There are plenty of languages that aren’t Indo-European. Why did they choose Arabic above all the others? Could it have to do with what they have done to Belgium, and what is coming for that country? Why, certainly.

The Holy Trinity College Preparatory School, located in Leuven in the Flemish Region, has included learning the Arabic language in its school curriculum this year, several Mediahuis media outlets report.
This language will be compulsory for sixth-year secondary students in modern languages; Arabic therefore joins the compulsory learning of Dutch, French, English, Spanish and German. This decision is largely linked to the modernisation of secondary education, which allows schools to offer modern language teaching with a limited number of hours of Latin, economics, science or mathematics. A certain number of hours can be filled by courses chosen by the schools themselves.
“We did not want to pamper our students, but to challenge them intellectually with a language that does not belong to the Indo-European group,” explains the school’s principal Frank Baeyens. “We want to show them that a language can be structured in a completely different way, with different writing and signs. The aim is also not for them to learn to speak Arabic fluently. It is rather a philosophical and cultural language. An opening of their horizons.”
Mr Baeyens also emphasises the social importance of the project. “A group of students has Arabic as their mother tongue. The presence of a teacher with Arab roots, who could serve as a role model for these students, would be a huge added value. Students can thus draw inspiration from a person with a certain social position, who has continued their studies and is satisfied with them. Today, there are too few teachers with an immigrant background.

It’s sad that this is happening….esp to ones so young. However, if they can understand it, they can know when some arab is threatening them.
I was once outside a store, waiting on a relative to complete some shopping. Near me was a tough-looking male speaking arabic into his phone. He had a very angry look on his face. I could not understand any of it except for the name they call their satanic ‘god.’.
Another day, I was riding a public transportation bus and some male university students were jabbering in arabic, laughing and pointing, gesturing. They also said something re their false ‘god.’
In both cases, it would have been helpful to me to know what was being said.
If the kids are being threatened, or if they learn of threats to others, they can speak up to someone they trust. Learning the language doesn’t mean they have to become mozlum.

The rest is not directed at you, I’m simply angered by the increasing amount of distraction in the daily school schedule, and particularly so when islam is asserting its power and was already typing this out:

the kids are in real danger, for sure. People who have faith in Christ and His Father, must work to stay faithful, have hope and as much as possible, help others who wish to be helped. (there are many who don’t wish).
I’m glad my kids are through with school and the little grandkids are schooled at home. Now is no time to trust people of the world.

Yes, it would have been helpful. On the other hand, Arabic differs substantially from region to region. Some Palestinians told me once that they could not understand Arabic as it was spoken in Sudan. This is what’s called diglossia. And the Arabic that is taught in school is a formal language that is not used on the street and is not often used by native speakers, even when speaking with Arabic speakers from other regions. In that case, they use English!

In Science, Arts & Medicine, Latin and Greek are the key languages for learning thousands of years! You may need a Greek-English dictionary to decipher the hieroglyphics of your medical tests or results but Arabic will be of no use to a North American, South American or European readers. Why cater to Middle Eastern bazaars that provided nothing to the Enlightenment in European history. A course in Judeo-Christian evolution would be more useful for young Belgians! Or Western Philosophy courses when they are sorely needed by the new anhistoric amnesiac “woke” young students..

Once upon a time we studied a foreign language because of the possibility of going to that country in the future to go on vacation. French, Spanish, German were taught when I was at school because most people went to Europe on holiday. The only reason people learn a second language is normally for a positive reason. This arabic studying is not positive! They should learn the language of the countries they are emigrtating to and not vice versa! We all have smart phones now, don’t we??
