Bangladesh: After attack on Hindu boy, Muslim posted photo of blood-smeared cloth, ‘I feed proud, Alhamdulillah’

Buzzing with jihad-inclined Muslims, Bangladesh as a nation, with all its institutions, has unleashed unprecedented violence on its minorities. They have decided that they will not let a single Hindu exist on their soil, and the latest victim of their communal extremism is a minor Hindu boy lynched by a thousand-strong bloodthirsty mob, as Jihad Watch reported earlier today. After that report was published, new reports asserted that he did not die in the attack, and is fighting for his life.

Some reports say he is 15, but a few agencies state he is 17. Nevertheless, the victim, Utsav Mondol, from the Sonadanga area of the Khulna district, is a minor Hindu boy who is fighting for survival. On the night of Wednesday, August 4, a huge mob of Muslim students in Khulna dragged him into the office of Khulna Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner. They accused Utsav of ” insulting Prophet Mohammad” on social media.

It only takes seconds for accusations of someone insulting the prophet of Islam to spread like wildfire, while no one ever looks into the veracity of such rumors. Things progressed as per the familiar template, and a swarm of 5,000 Muslims quickly surrounded the Deputy Commissioner’s office.  The situation spiraled out of control, with more students joining the mob and members of the Imam Association gathering outside the police station. The frenzied mob was now swollen to uncountable numbers; while they were initially demanding immediate and severe punishment for the minor boy, they quickly changed their stance and decided that Utsav should be judged according to their Islamic laws, which translated to execution for an alleged post on Facebook.

Though the Deputy Commissioner assured them that authorities would lodge a case against Utsav and the procedure would follow its course, the mob didn’t budge. As the tension escalated, military forces were called in, but the additional security forces only served as a new audience for the attempted public execution. Eventually, a nearby mosque announced that Utsav was done to death, and the crowd started to disperse. But they soon learned that the announcement was false and that Utsav was still alive and in police custody.

The aggravated protestors returned to the police station, demanding that Ustav be handed over to them. Members of the mob pounced on him and started beating him brutally. Video of the incident show the police and military personnel standing as spectators to the lynching; their lack of interest in saving the minor was apparent in their making not the slightest attempt to rescue the Hindu boy. The beating continued until the boy’s body became still and lay lifeless on the ground. Several newspapers, including Bangladesh’s local media, reported that the boy was dead.

However, Bangladesh police refuted the news of the boy’s death and claimed that the boy had been critically injured, but was alive and was receiving treatment in the Army Hospital. But things don’t look any better for this minor victim of Islamic wrath. The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate of Bangladesh has assured the ferocious Islamic protestors that a legal procedure was initiated against Utsav and he would be tried as per law once he gets better.

Let’s summarize the entire incident.

A minor Hindu boy is accused of alleged blasphemy by Muslim rumormongers, beaten to a pulp by a mob, now recuperating from the injuries, only to face legal charges upon his discharge from hospital. He will likely face the danger of another fatal attack throughout his entire life. On the other hand, no reports suggest that authorities are lodging a case against the mob that attacked him in the presence of government officials. It is not entirely impossible to identify them, as there are photos and videos from the attack; detecting the key members who mobilize such violent gatherings is not challenging, either. The only thing lacking is an honest intent from the Bangladeshi officials.

We must highlight the vicious role of the social media platform Facebook in fanning Islamic violence. This social media platform is notorious for being pro-Islam to dangerous extents. Muslims have used it to gather mobs and execute various communal attacks on non-Muslims in Bangladesh and India for years. Hundreds of Bangladeshi Islamic pages on this platform broadcast communal hate towards Hindus and Jews around the clock. Profiles with Muslim names randomly disseminate threats of killing and raping Hindu women using this platform. When such threats are reported, their back-office team gets back to confirm that the death or rape threat by the Muslim doesn’t go against their “community standards.” The community standards of such platforms are shamelessly biased towards Muslims and have allowed many Muslims to spread hate towards non-Muslims repeatedly.

Soon after Utsav’s lynching, one Ashanul Haque Osama took to his account on this social media platform and posted the picture of a blood-smeared cloth with the caption, “Halal blood of the Shaitan of Khulna, I feed proud Alhamdulillah,” in Bengali. It is implied that he was one of those who participated in the lynching of Utsav. Thousands of profiles with Islamic names responded with a celebratory “Alhamdulillah” to this post.
