“It says reports of antisemitic and anti-Muslim acts have increased by 284% and 29% respectively.”
Yet OSCE is not voicing concern about antisemitism, but about “Islamophobia.”
Note also that “Islamophobia” is used interchangeably in the article below with “anti-Muslim hatred.” OSCE claims that “there has been an upsurge in hatred against Muslims.” They don’t say that there has been an upsurge in attacks of innocent Muslims. They don’t say that there has been an upsurge of violence against Muslims. They say that there has been an upsurge in hatred of Muslims. How do they know? Do they monitor people’s thoughts? Or does their rise in “anti-Muslim acts” include acts on the order of dirty looks and rude remarks, and acts that are taken as such?
And why, even as antisemitism has risen much more sharply, is OSCE concerned only about “Islamophobia”?
Note also that OSCE claims a rise in “disinformation” Muslims, while giving no examples. Given the way the left has used the word “disinformation” in the past (remember Hunter Biden’s laptop, which 51 top U.S. intelligence officials falsely claimed was “Russian disinformation”), it is likely that they’re including under the rubric of “disinformation” accurate news about Islamic jihad activity that the political elites find inconvenient. That news will accordingly be silenced.
“Concern voiced over rise in Islamophobia,” by Martin Banks, Modern Diplomacy, August 31, 2024:
A leading international security organisation has added its voice to growing concern about a surge in Islamophobia in wake of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
A rising tide of Islamophobia across Europe is, says the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), compounded by an intensified wave of Islamophobic disinformation – or the deliberate spread of false information.
The OSCE says it is concerned, stating that, “amidst an increase in prejudice and violence against Muslims in a growing number of countries, greater efforts are needed to build dialogue and counter anti-Muslim hatred.”
The Vienna-based organisation said, “There has been an upsurge in hatred against Muslims especially since the renewed outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East in October last year, with online and offline hate speech, threats and violence having a negative impact on Muslim communities, particularly women and girls.”
Official data show that Islamophobic crimes in Germany more than doubled in 2023, with nearly one in 10 incidents involving violence, according to the German Alliance against Islamophobia and discrimination against Muslims (CLAIM).
Austria and other EU countries have also reported similar trends while racism and intolerance are rising in France, fuelled by the war in Gaza and far-right ideas in public debate, according to France’s human rights commission, the CNCDH.
It says reports of antisemitic and anti-Muslim acts have increased by 284% and 29% respectively, while other types of racist acts increased by 21%.
Anti-Muslim hate in the UK has more than tripled in the four months since Hamas’s attacks, says the charity Tell Mama which documented 2,010 Islamophobic incidents between 7 October and 7 February – a steep rise from the 600 it recorded for the same period the year previously….

The OSCE obviously suffers from “Eye Speck Log Disease” in other words remove the log from your ass before trying to remove the speck from another’s eye.
