US intelligence has now openly admitted that Iran was responsible for the hack of Donald Trump’s office presidential campaign.
They call it “part of a brazen and broader effort by Tehran to interfere in American politics and undermine faith in democratic institutions.” It also reflects a big breach in American security. Of course, at the forefront of Iranian officials’ minds is that Trump did all he could to minimize the influence and power of the Islamic Republic of Iran by means of sanctions. What has the Biden administration done? Pour billions into the regime’s coffers, which it’s putting to use in Gaza and southern Lebanon (and elsewhere). As Daniel Greenfield wrote on Jihad Watch:
The Iranians are getting a little more ambitious in 2024. Beyond trying to assassinate former President Trump, they’re trying to do the kind of thing Qatar has become infamous for, hacking Republicans and then ‘leaking’ the materials to the media. U.S. intelligence officials said Monday they were confident that Iran was responsible for the hack of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, casting the cyber intrusion as part of a brazen and broader effort by Tehran to interfere in American politics and undermine faith in democratic institutions.
Although the Trump campaign and private-sector cybersecurity investigators had previously said Iran was behind the hacking attempts, it was the first time the U.S. government had assigned blame for the attack.
The joint statement from the FBI and other federal agencies also indicated that Iran was responsible for attempts to hack Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, saying hackers had “sought access to individuals with direct access to the Presidential campaign of both political parties.”
The goal of the hacking and other activities, federal officials said, was not only to sow discord but also to shape the outcome of elections that Iran perceives to be “particularly consequential in terms of the impact they could have on its national security interests.”….

I just wonder whether these intel officials anticipate Trump’s returning to power, and trying to get into his good side. Particularly given that he’s likely to bring them to task on the way they weaponized the law against political opponents, including him, the last 4 years
