The Head of Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet), Ali Erbaş, on Aug. 2 delivered the sermon while holding a sword during a funeral prayer in absentia held at Hagia Sophia for Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniye, who was assassinated in Iran by Israel.
Erbaş had read a sermon with a sword in his hand several times before despite critiques.
Erbaş first read a sermon with a sword in his hand after Hagia Sophia was opened to worship as a mosque and said, “Reading a sermon with a sword is a common practice that exists in our history and tradition.”
In his recent sermon which also coincided with the Friday prayers, Erbaş stated, “Murderers and occupiers are committing brutal massacres in Islamic places, particularly in Gaza, without sparing children, women, the elderly, or the innocent. The ruthless criminals are committing a genocide unprecedented in history. Those who support them applaud oppression with their bloodstained hands and encourage the oppressors.”
In Turkish version of the sermon, Erbaş also talked about sultan of the Ottoman Empire Mehmed the Conqueror and his conquest of Istanbul….

Ali Erbaş disgraced the beautiful Hagia Sophia with his presence and his sword. Why does Islam always have a war like attitude to mix with their religion? Or is Islam inherently violent and warlike, which is probably the answer. No religion is due for a Reformation as is Islam. It is centuries behind and operates as if we are still in the 7th century. A sword at a funeral means only vengeance and retribution. In other words an eye for and eye and a blood lust. Islam has made the world a worse place to live in. It subjugates its the entire female population of every nation and land it controls. It preaches hate toward any “non-believers” or as they say “infidels”. Islam has not produced anything of value to humanity. The nations that operate under its tenets do not create anything for the good of humanity, especially the female half of it. It is a weight dragging down the entire world much as fascism or communism does. And the mullahs and imams that lead the religion have often picked up the Nazi torch of Anti-Semitism and carry it high but of course Christians, Hindus and Buddhists are not offered an extension of a hand either. Hate seems to be its strongest motivator.

Islam is a Manichean religion. You’re either Islamic or you’re the enemy, there’s no in-between. And any particular flavor of Islam is the enemy of another flavor of Islam. If you die in attacking a non-fellow Islamist, you go to Paradise, and maybe your family will go too, depending on the mood of the local imam. Rather random, IMO. Reading the Koran, hadiths, & suras will make you wonder about sanity, logic, & reason.

Sanity, logic and reason come from the ‘ten commandments’. That applies to all regardless of religion. But for Islam there is a duality of ethics. There is one system for muslims and another for non believers. And the one for muslms supercedes the ten commanments which had become something of a universal system of right and wrong.
