Hizballah may well act separately from Iran, but in quiet cahoots with it) in order to shield the Islamic Republic from the consequences of a direct war with Israel. Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah has been insisting on “revenge,” making an October 7th-like attack a real possibility.
Two of Iran’s Arab neighbors, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have warned the Islamic Republic not to use their airspace in any planned attack on Israel, while Jordan has given permission for Israel to use its airspace in such a war. This is disempowering to Iran, which also faces the likelihood of a crushing military and economic blow if it engages directly with Israel. US Central Command is already coordinating with Israel in the region.
Given these facts, it would behoove Iran to be careful about plans to attack Israel directly. It may opt instead to enable Hizballah to do it. In the meantime, Israel, according to the unnamed IDF officers, is not ready for a northern border ground invasion from Hizballah.

Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force could carry out a cross-border onslaught similar to the October 7th massacre, which would see hundreds or thousands of terrorists infiltrate Israeli communities from Lebanon, warned senior Israeli army officers.
The officers, who spoke anonymously to Hebrew-language outlet Walla, are concerned that the military’s top brass has not effectively dealt with the threat of a ground invasion of northern Israel by Hezbollah.
“Why hasn’t Hezbollah done this yet? Because they have chosen not to. But anyone who thinks that Hezbollah isn’t training to infiltrate Israeli territory with squadrons of terrorists is mistaken,” one officer, from the IDF’s Northern Command, told Walla.
“The working assumption for everyone should be that Hezbollah is capable of infiltrating, planting a flag in a community or an IDF post on the border, and burning several buildings,” another commander told the outlet.
“For them, this could be seen as a victory. We must not forget that this is a terrorist organization. Such an action could impact the entire area and terrorize the residents of the [northern] region.”….

While Hizbullah may tactically distance itself from Teheran to shield the latter from any consequences of an attack, Israel should do no such thing. It should make it clear to Teheran that if it gets attacked by Hizbullah, that the military repercussions would fall on Iran, & this time be deadly. Like totally disabling Kharg island and disrupting world oil supply (since Iran’s oil is no longer off the market)
In fact, that should put Kamala’s staff on notice (since she’s too dumb to comprehend): if Israel disables Kharg island, that will skyrocket the prices of oil, and even the USSPR will not be able to salvage things for long. That should convince the US administration to at least seize Kharg island and start controlling that traffic, if they can do nothing to convince Iran to force Hizbullah to step back north of the Litany river
