Last week we had the big loud debate over what race Kamala Harris is. As I’ve said before, I don’t think she’s anything. Her identity is as negotiable as anything else. And like Obama, it doesn’t fit the American identity politics calculus anyway. Like a lot of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, she’s a member of a high-achieving minority group (who is admittedly a lot dumber than the average Indian and Jamaican immigrant) with some family ties, but little sense of belonging to anything beyond a social class.
Kamala’s cooking session with Mindy Kaling gets at how Indian she is which is as much as your average liberal Jew is Jewish. They picked up some things growing up, mostly foods, a few words, and fond memories, but no real sense of identity, belief or commitment.
Over in Bangladesh, a color revolution by Marxists and Islamists, cheered on by the media, has set out to demolish the country as an independent secular state. Call it a smaller Arab Spring with no Arabs (except the ones remotely funding all this) and it has more than slight echoes of the massacres by Islamists (including some who fled to America and became political players) during the battle over Bangladeshi independence.
Like all Islamic movements, a primary goal is to massacre non-Muslims, in this case Hindus.
The media has mostly ignored or downplayed the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, much as it previously did the Muslim massacres of Chinese in Indonesia or of Christians in Nigeria. The New York Times even justified them as “revenge” because the Muslim majority attacking a non-Muslim minority are still oppressed.
Kamala constantly comments on how awful Israel’s defense against Islamic terrorists is, but has nothing to say about the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, who is Indian, offered a belated statement urging an end to the violence.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries claimed that, “I am deeply concerned and saddened by the violence, casualties and human rights abuses in Bangladesh over the past weeks and offer my condolences to the families of the victims, including within the Bangladeshi-American community that calls Brooklyn home. Recent developments and new leadership must bring with them respect for democratic principles and the rule of law and a commitment to investigating the attacks, calling for accountability for those responsible and demanding justice for the victims. Under the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration, the United States will continue to closely monitor the situation unfolding and we encourage all parties to refrain from further violence.”
And yet there’s been nothing from the ‘Harris’ part of the Biden-Harris administration.
Kamala, when it was convenient, pretended to be the “first Indian-American senator”. Now when Hindus are facing violence, she couldn’t even be bothered to make a statement.

She’s not a Hindu. I have seen her faith listed as Baptist after her dad, although I’m sure most Baptists would deny it. Nominally, whatever she is, I suspect that she’s an Atheist, or someone who treats every religious place as a hip-hop venue. I expect her to be on the same page as Pramila Jayapal & other leftist Hindus, although I am impressed that Krishnamurthy had something to say about it
Also, the overwhelming majority of Bangladeshi-Americans are muslims, which is another thing: given that that country had been a jihadist hub even under the previous regime, Bangladesh & Pakistan should be added to the list of countries in President Trump’s Travel Ban. Hakeem Jeffries associating their suffering w/ that of the Bangladeshi-American community makes no sense. Anybody who wants to associate their suffering w/ anyone in the US should just do it w/ Hindus, since this genocide is front page not just in Bangladesh, but India as well

I agree, if she is willing to speak to groups who believe the Israelis are committing genocide in Gaza should also speak of real genocides occurring by Moslems against Christians in Africa and Afghanistan and Moslems against Hindus in Bangladesh and India.
But why isn’t Nikki Hailey, who was born Hindu, or Vivek Ramaswamy, who is still a practicing Hindu speak up and force Kamala to speak of these real genocides? But we know why Kamala does not speak up, once again politics triumphs over integrity.

If either Nikki Hailey or Vivek Ramaswamy were the Republican candidates for President they would wipe the floor with Kamala Harris. Not sure if Trump could or will do the same when his turn comes up on whatever channel a debate happens.
What is amazing about Muslim outrages against Hindus in majority Hindu India, the outcome of that is Hindu outrages against Muslims who are the minority. Hindus are the only people on this planet who give back to Muslims the same hateful violence that Muslims do to non Muslims from Nigeria to Sudan to any other nation. It seems to quiet the Muslims for a decade or so but hatred is so basic to the Muslim mindset that they cannot help themselves and if an opportunity comes around to kill and maim Hindus, they will do it even knowing what they will get in return.

Actually, no. You’re talking about how Hindus used to react in the last century, when the BJP used to pose as a Hindu party (even though it wasn’t even then!) This century, the BJP governments everywhere have dismantled all Hindu organizations that used to protest. Many Hindus now brand BJP/RSS a jihadist organization
There has been no rioting against muslims by Hindus in India in response to this carnage in Bangladesh. Forget that: nobody is even doing anything against Bangladeshi muslims in India. If anything, for 2 days, the Indian government censored Bangladeshi X accounts that were showing photos & videos of the pogroms against Hindus
Speaking of which, it would be nice to hear either Vivek Ramaswamy or Tulsi Gabbard talk about it

Nikki Haley was born Sikh. Sikhs these days are pretty hostile to Hindus – check Harmeet Dillon, so I don’t expect any support from them. But I do wish Vivek Ramaswamy would speak out about this, instead of yakking away w/ Mark Cuban about DEI, when there is nothing much to yak about. Or Tulsi Gabbard, who’s pretty outspoken when it comes to talking about Ukraine or Saudi Arabia

It is always the safest choice to protest the predicament of women from within the boundaries of a fairly safe Western country. Countries where the men are not likely to engage in mob lynchings, acid attacks, beheadings, etc. Secondly, they always confine their protesting to Western people and countries where they live. Finally, never call out the real life inhumanity suffered by women outside of the much safer West. The West used to be that way so I wonder what happened? /s

Best example to date: Kuwait! We liberated them in 1990, or else, they’d have today been Iraq’s 19th province. However, today Kuwait straddles somewhere b/w the Saudis & Qataris, and has good relations w/ Iran. The only time I’ve heard about a Kuwaiti in the US has been at Chattanooga, where in 2015, a Kuwaiti shot up some barracks before getting killed
