Recently, Jimmy Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, said this about his grandfather: “This is a good man who has done remarkable things with his life and has taken the opportunities that he was given and used them to do good.” Others beg to differ, particularly regarding Carter’s longstanding animus toward Israel.
Jimmy Carter, like so many others who have repeated the “two-state solution” mantra since Oct. 7, 2023, has for years been hellbent on arriving at a “solution” to the Arab-Israeli conflict. But what makes Jimmy Carter think there is a “solution” to the Arab and Muslim war against Israel? The evidence supports quite a different view. I don’t think there is a “two-state” or three-state or n-state “solution” to a conflict that will continue forever, because it is based on Muslim hostility to a Jewish state, whatever its dimensions, on land Muslims once possessed, and, still more infuriating, located in the midst of Muslim Arabdom.
That a conflict cannot be “solved” does not mean it is not manageable. Right now, possessing both the Golan and the entire West Bank, Israel can manage militarily. El-Sisi’s Egypt is clearly more worried about the Muslim Brotherhood and terrorists in the Sinai, and Hamas in Gaza. Egypt has been, like Israel, destroying the tunnels into Gaza and, like Israel, it has instituted a partial blockade on Gaza. El-Sisi has publicly admitted to cooperating with Israel in the Sinai, against both Hamas and the Islamic State. As for Syria, while Assad may have won his civil war, he still has to deal with nearly half the population that has either fled, or been displaced; his country lies mostly in ruins, and hundreds of billions of dollars will be required to rebuild. Assad and the Alawites are unlikely to risk everything they have managed to hold onto by taking on Israel. They have no resources – soldiers, war materiel, money – to spare. Saudi Arabia and the UAE both see Israel in a different light, no longer as an enemy but as an ally against the menace of an aggressive Shi’a Iran. And the Saudis, especially, are fed up with Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinians constantly whining for more suppor. The Crown Prince has told Abbas to accept whatever “deal” he is offered; it must have dawned on Abbas that the Palestinian cause is no longer at the center of Arab interests. They have too much else – Iran, the Islamic State, the Muslim Brotherhood — to worry about.
Right now the greatest threat to Israel comes from Iran, as it once came from Egypt and Syria. But despite the warming of relations with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, and Oman, Israel cannot count on those good relations becoming permanent. It has to always keep in mind the Arab and Muslim masses, for whom It remains a permanent affront. Muslims Israel does not become less of an affront if it is pushed back, as Jimmy Carter wants it to be, to the armistice lines of 1948-49. The two metaphors the Arabs routinely use for Israel are that it is a “knife” in the heart of Arabdom, or a “cancer” within the Arab body. You don’t pull a “knife” only part-way out, nor excise only part of a cancer. You have to remove the whole blade, cut out the whole tumor.
Carter’s obsession with pushing Israel back to the pre-1967 lines, his completely ignoring the Mandate for Palestine, his misreading of Resolution 242, his unshakeable belief that Israel should entrust its security to Hamas, or to the likes of Mahmoud Abbas, doing his no-one-here-but-us-accountants impersonation – all this suggests that behind the sweet habitat-for-humanity smile, and the treacly self-righteousness, and the Sunday School unctuousness, Jimmy Carter suffers from a well-known pathological condition. It’s called antisemitism. Meanwhile, if you want to really understand the legal, historic, and moral claims of Israel, begin by reading the Mandate for Palestine, especially the Preamble, and Articles 4 and 6. Look at the Mandate maps, to see what was to be included in the future Jewish National Home. And then, to understand what U.N. Resolution 242 actually means, you should turn not to Jimmy Carter, but to the man who was most responsible for drafting that resolution, that is, the commonsensical Lord Caradon.

Jimmy carter must take the blame for fumbling the ball with the Iranian revolution and not supporting the Shah. The Shah for all his faults was a bulwark against Islamism. Under the Shas Iran was westernising. Carter dropped the ball big time and we are still paying the price for his failure. At least Nixon did not sit idly by and allow Chile to go communist. Same as Ronald Reagan in central America. He did not allow the communists to take over,

The IDF recently found a tunnel into Egypt from Gaza which could (probably thousands did) permit vehicles to travel.
When it comes to the problems caused by mozlums, there is only one ‘solution.’ No more islam/no more mozlums

The only solution to this Gaza/Hamas problem is Israel taking over Gaza once again after they dismantle Hamas, and installing Martial Law for the foreseeable future. Ditto Lebanon/ Hizb’allah.

I thought Israel had Gaza at one point but pulled out after trying to deal with the people there

Yep–Israel pulled out in 2005–almost 20 years ago.

That Jimmy Carter likes .favors approves of and supports the idea of “two state solution” only further reveals what a wisdom-less fool with no common sense he actually is
The reason why this is so is because Hamas had proven not only the its words but ,more terrible murderous actions, starting on October 7th, that it wants to completely destroy the State of Israel and even commit genocide worldwide on the Jewish people. That Hamas jihad attack and continued further Islam terror/murder attacks reveals the terrible folly and total lack of wisdom in the every idea of a two-state solution.
Therefore, that so called “two state solution” is not really a valid idea and not a genuine solution. It will definitely not stop this awful Israeli –Muslim land conflict.
Thus, a “two state solution” is out of the question. .This is because a “two state solution” not really a “solution” but an Islamic ploy of deception , a smokescreen and hoax and a fraud.
To put all this in another way , October7th with those Hamas Islamic terror murderous jihadist attacks into Israel from Gaza exposes that even the idea of some people of dividing Jerusalem as well as other parts of the State of Israel between the Jewish people of the Muslim/ Arabs is nothing but folly. To engage the madness of such “talks” is a hoax and a farce .This is because in the so called “negotiations” between the heads of the Jewish nation of Israel and the leaders of the “Palestinians” the Muslim /Arabs the “Palestinian” leaders will speak the truth only when in happens to fit their agenda. The rest of the time the will be speaking half-truths and outright lies. For their goal is to obtain all of the land of the State of Israel. Even in it takes much time and it means getting the land piece by piece. Therefore, those “peace talks” are a hoax.
For the “Palestinian” leaders are employing what is the Islamic doctrine of Taqiyya . Which is the Islamic dogma that lying and deception are good things to do as long as it’s done for the cause of the advancement of Islam. This insidious scheme is part of the stealth jihad . Such sly and something subtle strategy of disingenuous speech, lying deception of achieving the goal of all the land of Israel a war ploy that will be a disaster if the heads of the State of Israel are foolish enough to agree to divide the land of Israel with Muslim /Arabs ,the “Palestinians.” For if such a “peace dialogue” results in a divided land, the outcome will literally be murder. For “Palestinian” leader will allow the jihadists use that land as a base to launch murderous rocket attacks in to Israel. As for example, Hamas of Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Such false hopes for peace which are based on the foundation of lies are nothing new when it comes to Israel. For example, the Bible in Psalm 55:20, 21. Reads “Such men do violence to those at peace with them and break their promised word; their speech is smoother the butter but their thoughts are of war.” [N.E.B.]

Jimmy Carter had said that he’s “a Christian” but he denies that Jews prayers at Judaism’s holiest site is appropriate, is Carter so very ignorant and outright stupid that he doesn’t know that Jesus would never approve of such a “two state solution”? Maybe Biden does know that but being a godless and wicked man doesn’t’ care.
Likewise, Carter keeps favoring for a for a division of the land State of Israel , which is so false solution “the two state solution. “
That fool idea contradicts the Wisdom of Jesus Who taught that “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.” Mark 3:24. [N.E.B.]
Ronald Nuxon says
Jimmy Carter is one of those Christians who believes that Judaism was superseded by Christianity and has no place in the modern world. Subsequently, Israel is a heretical abomination. Carter, while not despising Jews as individuals (he’s too Southern and genteel for that), advocates for any polity which undermines the Jewish state.

I think Carter’s view of Israel has more to do with his being a leftist than his being Christian.

Carter should have stuck to his charitable work and election monitoring. He should have cut off his Democratic colleagues when they drifted to the Left. It’s very sad that he left his Baptist roots for a leftist version of Christianity.
At least he didn’t enrich himself and still lives in the same family home.

Prior to October 7, 2023, there was actually, in effect a “two-state situation” as Hamas (supported by the so-called Palestinians) controlled Gaza – right next to Israel…
How did that work out?
gravenimage says
Good point, James. Gaza has just been a platform from which to attack Israel. Hamas has sneered at the idea that they should be governing Gaza for the benefit of Gazans.
