China is virtually encouraging Iran to attack Israel: “China condemns killing of Hamas leader, supports Iran in defending security,” by Darryl Coote, United Press International, August 12, 2024:
China on Sunday told Iran it condemns the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and supports Tehran’s defense of its “sovereignty, security and national dignity,” according to Beijing’s foreign ministry.
Beijing’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, spoke over the phone Sunday with his Iranian counterpart, acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri. According to a statement from the ministry, the two exchanged views on the situation unfolding in the Middle East, and Wang said China condemns last month’s assassination of Haniyeh.
“China firmly opposes and strongly condemns the assassination, viewing it as a severe violation of the basic principles of international relations, a serious infringement on Iran’s sovereignty, security and dignity and a direct disruption of the Gaza cease-fire negotiations, impacting regional peace and stability,” he said..
Any attack on Israel by Iran obviously has nothing to do with self-defense. It was Iran-backed Hamas that savaged Israel in the first place. It is Israel that is in a war of its own self-defense. Iran and its proxies have been brazen about their goal of annihilating the Jewish State.
Communist China is politically anti-Israel, as it is anti-American and anti-Western, despite its complex economic ties and cooperation with the West. China is loyal only to its self-interests and goal of global dominance.
An incoherent statement came from Beijing’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, who told his Iranian counterpart, acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri:
China supports Iran in legally defending its sovereignty, security and national dignity and is willing to maintain close communication with Iran to support its efforts to maintain regional peace and stability,”
Iran is hardly a representative of peace in the region. It can better be characterized as the head of the snake that destabilizes the region. Nor does it operate from a place of “dignity.” Savagery and deceit better characterize it.
Pure self-interest characterizes the China-Iran relationship. In 2021, China and Iran signed a $400 billion accord, creating a power shift that Forbes described as threatening Western interests. The deal incorporated China’s ongoing Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), “spending billions in infrastructure investment with an eye on long term influence and economic and security hegemony.”
Iran holds the world’s second largest gas reserves behind Russia, and China is Iran’s largest trade partner. China has also provided the Islamic Republic full membership in the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). In turn, China sees an opportunity for greater Middle East influence. On the Iran side, the Iranian elites view China as “a rising power, while they think Russia and Europe are declining powers.”
The two countries each hold the foundational goal for global dominance, and both will remain friends of mutual convenience in pursuit of that aim.

Israel has not taken credit. Unless they do, I will not believe it. Maybe I am completely wrong but the way Iran is, I feel Haniyeh may be hiding out in Turkey and the house was blown up just to give the EXCUSE for all out war to destroy Israel completely. Maybe they will wait till US forces who showed up go home. Did you see Haniyeh’s sons showing up with Erdogan with huge smiles happy as can be for the ‘funeral’. Yes, I might be wrong……..but I might be right.
