Biden regime names Mohamed Elsanousi of Hamas-linked ISNA to US Commission on International Religious Freedom

In its latest filing before the federal district court in Dallas on behalf of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and its affiliate organization, the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) in the Hamas-terrorism financing case, the ACLU has made a noteworthy admission.

Rather than deny that there is copious evidence tying ISNA and NAIT to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, the brief argues that such evidence is merely dated. In a curious footnote on page 7, the reply states:

Assuming the authenticity of documents’ dates, the most recent documents to mention either ISNA or NAIT are dated 1991, Gov. Exhs. 3-3 and 3-85, but the majority of the documents are older. Almost all of the numerous exhibits that purport to show financial transactions and that contain any mention of ISNA or NAIT are dated 1988 and 1989 (there are two dated 1990), almost a decade before the majority of the overt acts the government alleges in support of its conspiracy charges against the HLF defendants.

So ISNA and NAIT are not saying that the documents tying their organizations to Hamas are “inauthentic,” but that the problem with the evidence is just that it is old. Then, even more curiously, the reply goes on to argue something that the government has not even alleged:

Even if the “evidence” provided some basis for alleging criminality against petitioners, the government’s discussion of it shows the government utterly fails to grasp the singular weight and consequence that an official accusation of criminal conduct carries in our criminal justice system and in our society.

But, of course, the government has not charged ISNA or NAIT with criminal conduct, or the two groups would be indicted in their own right, rather than un-indicted co-conspirators who worked with the Holy Land for Relief and Development (HLF), the defendant and alleged Hamas-front. The reply brief then, as Shakespeare might write, “doth protest too much.”

The Biden administration recently announced its appointment of Mohamed Elsanousi, director of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers, to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

The White House may not know that judging by his actions instead of his words, Elsanousi is an advocate for neither peacemaking nor religious freedom.

The Sudanese-born Elsanousi spent 12 years as director of community outreach and interfaith relations for the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a long-standing Muslim Brotherhood front group. He has hardly repudiated this connection, displaying it as a credential on his official Peacemakers network bio. His bio also boasts of a bachelor’s degree in “Sharia and Law” from the International Islamic University in Pakistan.

ISNA is not a minor Brotherhood operation. It is cited as the very first on a list of 29 organizations named in the Brotherhood’s “Explanatory Memorandum” outlining its plans for the future.

The 1991 manifesto, discovered by an FBI search warrant in 2004, describes such organizations as part of “a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

Founded in 1981, ISNA was directly connected to the infamous Holy Land Foundation, shut down in 2007 and deemed at trial to be the Brotherhood’s foremost American-based funder of Hamas—an outgrowth of the Brotherhood itself.

A close ally of ISNA is the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), exposed in the same trial as another prominent Hamas money-laundering enterprise. CAIR’s leader, Nihad Awad, has openly said: “I am in support of the Hamas movement.”

Not surprisingly, despite its use of humane buzzwords and avoidance of hateful language, Islamic institutions tied to ISNA have nurtured jihad against Americans.

One example is the Islamic Society of Boston, founded the same year as ISNA by convicted terrorist conspirator Abdurahman Alamoudi with the late Muslim Brotherhood “spiritual leader” Yusuf al-Qaradhawi as a board member. When the ISB began construction on its “sister” mega-mosque, the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, its 2003 tax exemption filing named ISNA as its parent organization.

Since then, both the ISB and ISBCC have produced 14 (known) associates, former members and students who are at large, dead, in prison or have been deported for involvement in terrorism….

    Until Turkey as a Muslim country and member in the Nato, had to reject the Muslims Brotherhood as migrants and asked them to leave the country.

    Hamas the Islamic terrorist’s organization is considering the military wing of the Muslims Brotherhood.

    From where President Biden has the information that Islam believe in democracy, human rights and freedom of religion and speech?

    All the Muslims in the Middle East who are speaking, reading, writing Arabic and study the Koran and the sharia law by Arabic language. Believe that Islam do not believe in democracy, human rights and freedom.

  5. Yes, Hamas and its parent company, the Muslim Brotherhood is so unbiased and open to other religions and faiths. Especially in Egypt where they have not killed all the Coptic Christians just as many as they could get away with. And make sure that the Egyptian law which holds that any destroyed Christian Church cannot be replaced with a new one ensuring that in time there will be no Christian Churches in Egypt is never changed.
    Hamas members in Gaza in the days before Oct. 7 only desired the “best” for Christians, especially Christian females who they felt should have the happy event of having a Muslim husband – whether they want one or not. That was always a great incentive for a Christian family to flee Gaza and leave behind everything they owned rather than have a daughter forced into marriage with a Muslim. Show me a ecumenical Muslim and I’ll show you a 2% minority of those in the Islamic faith.

  8. If President Trump is elected and looks for a group of agencies to shut down, this particular one – the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) should be high on that list. It was invented in the 90s by Bill Clinton to lecture other countries on religious freedom, even while his party mocked – and continues to mock to this day – not just Christians, but any group of believers opposed to their favorite lobby groups. Except, of course muslims

    Here is how this agency is bad for America:

    ➤ It publishes annual reports on each country’s religious tolerance, similar to Freedom House’s rankings of democracies. Which is a laugh, since I doubt that Freedom House has downgraded the US due to all the attempts to throw President Trump in jail, or remove him even if he does get re-elected, as planned by Jamie Raskin
    ➤ It puts the US diplomatically at a disadvantage via a vis our rivals – China & even Russia. Those 2 don’t publish reports or berate other countries for their lack of freedom, diversity or religious tolerance. The US does, so when those countries’ regimes have to decide who to ally w/, they pick the likes of Russia
    ➤ In order to show that they’re not solely islamophobic, they balance their criticism of religious freedom in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, et al by throwing similar charges at non-muslim countries in the region, such as India, Burma, Sri Lanka, et al. For instance, they criticized India’s CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) for not including muslims in the list of people who can seek refuge in India, even though Pakistan & Bangladesh were carved out for those very reasons. End result has been many Indians thinking that we are out to get them, even though they are in our alliance against China. Similarly, US criticism of Burma for driving out the Rohingyas has driven that country into Beijing’s orbit, which is diplomatically so brilliant in a region where we have few allies, but could have so many more, thanks to Beijing’s hegemony
    ➤ Similarly, the USCIRF is pretty critical of countries in the -stans for their crackdowns on jihadists. But the Romanov & Soviet era crackdowns, followed by these successor regimes after 1991 is precisely why the -stans are not ruled by Taliban-like parties. If these clowns had their way, countries like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan would all resemble Pakistan and Afghanistan

    Which is why it’s a good idea for the US to wind up this agency & stop prodding other countries about their religious freedom, or lack of it. Let those countries discover on their own what works for them and what doesn’t in terms of religious freedom

    • That is the big flaw in the Leftard’s calculus. They assume they will be allowed to flourish under Sharia.

      Instead they will do to them what they they did to their counterparts in Iran. They were rounded up and liquidated once the Islamists were in control.

  14. Appointing Abdallahs to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom is like appointing the fox to guard the chicken coop. LOL What a joke! They’re laughing at people in a brazen and cynical way.

    Either the Biden administrator is the most naive and disingenuous one in a very long time if not ever, or something more sinister is afloat.
