➤ His claim that in Morocco, “islamism” (as he calls it: see my next bullet) has been kept in check is ridiculous. Recall the world cup soccer last year, when not only did Morocco become the team that muslims worldwide rallied behind (which is their right), but that members of the Moroccan team themselves were swearing fealty to islam, like the Egyptian team in Russia 4 years ago and the Pakistani cricket team pretty much all the time
➤ His usage of the term “islamism”, as opposed to “islam”. I know that Robert was being polite, but one question Ayoub needs to be asked, since he is Moroccan, is “What is the Arabic word for this “islamism” that he talks about, which is distinct from the Arabic word for “islam”
➤ His harping on Saudi Arabia, while good for history in terms of how the Saudis trounced “secular” pan Arab nationalism, misses some key facts. For starters, even this “secular” pan-Arab nationalism was pretty anti-Semitic, and Israel’s biggest enemies in the 60s and 70s were countries like Nasser’s (& Sadat’s) Egypt, Assad’s Syria, Saddam’s Iraq and somewhat more distant, Gadaffi’s Libya. Even under the previous Wahabi regime in Riyadh, it was much less those GCC sheikhdoms like Emirates, Qatar, Bahrein or Saudi Arabia
➤ Moreover, he also ignores that there have been 2 Saudi Arabias – the one that was pre MbS, and the current regime. For the first bullet, I forgot to add: a lot of the muslim migrants in Europe who have been terrorizing the local population there are not just people from places like Pakistan, Bangladdesh, Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan & so on: they even come from these supposed “secular” muslim countries like Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco

These ‘modern’ words of Islam and Islamism are nonsense. There is one Islam, whose core teachings state that the infidel, especially a Jew is ‘beneath’ a Muslim. Muslims are ‘the best of peoples’. The aim of Islam has always been to take over the planet. Those who follow the teachings to the ‘Letter’ cannot fit in to a civil society. Fortunately many do not ‘take on’ the teachings and are ‘normal’. So there will always be jihadi ‘terrorists’ – once there is Islam.
