Mere days after the UK’s “Tory catastrophe,” Britain’s new Prime Minister Keir Starmer is claiming that there is an “urgent” need for a ceasefire in the Gaza war. Starmer is willfully blind or indifferent regarding the threat that Iran and its proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, pose to Israeli citizens and to Israel’s very existence.
Leftists have been even more sympathetic than they previously were to the Palestinian cause since the October 7 attack on Israel. That’s because they are pressured to do so by their colleagues and constituents, or because they believe the big lie that Israel is responsible for alleged oppression of the Palestinians; the oppressor/oppressed model fits the woke leftist ideological template.

The United Kingdom’s new prime minister has emphasised the need for a ceasefire and a two-state solution in calls with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as Israel has shown no inclination to stop its devastating war that has killed more than 38,000 people.
Keir Starmer told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of a “clear and urgent need for a ceasefire, the return of hostages and an immediate increase in the volume of humanitarian aid reaching civilians”.
As the opposition leader, Starmer had been accused of not calling for a ceasefire, taking the same line as Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. He called for a ceasefire in February after intense public pressure months after opposing a ceasefire resolution in the UK Parliament. He was also accused of denying tickets to some pro-Palestinian members of the Labour Party, including former party chief Jeremy Corbyn.
At least five pro-Palestinian candidates, including Corbyn, won the elections as independents.
Starmer was widely criticised for saying Israel “has the right” to cut water and electricity supplies to Gaza on an LBC podcast last October. A Labour Party spokesperson denied Starmer justified water and power blockade, saying his comment was in response to a question on Israel’s right to defend itself.…

Sir Keir, it doesn’t matter what you tell Prime Minister Netanyahu. The muslims who helped defeat 4 of your candidates are not going to switch to your side. They’ll probably latch on to the “Workers’ Party” or if they can create a new islamic party, to that. Once a fullblown islamic party exists and there are enough muslims in most constituencies to get just a plurality of the vote, their use for your party will be over
Regardless of that, you’re asking Israel to do things that no responsible British government (not counting the last 24 years) had ever done. When Hamas agrees to free all the hostages at once, a deal may be able to be arranged. But their cheap piecemeal 10 hostages at a time deals are sickening. Every Palestinian prisoner Israel has was caught and tried for a crime and found guilty. None of the Israeli hostages are guilty of anything except being Jews. And I hope it is explained to Hamas that the Knesset declared war on Hamas and that means until they are defeated and surrender unconditionally. Just like the Japanese and the Nazis which Hamas has a lot in common with. But one thing has to be emphasized to them. Sinwar and a few others are destined to be arrested or killed by Israel no matter what is decided. And he will be tried as a combination Eichmann and Charles Manson.
