The Left Hates J.D. Vance

And that’s the best argument in his favor.

Donald Trump’s choice for vice president, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), is, according to the Washington Post, “a rising star in the Republican Party and previously outspoken Trump critic who in recent years has closely aligned himself with the former president.” The leftist establishment media will in the next few weeks make a great deal out of his having been a Trump critic, leading some patriots to wonder if this was yet another of Trump’s personnel decisions that ended up backfiring on him (think Pence, Tillerson, McMaster, Bolton, et al). The strongest point in Vance’s favor, however, is that the left burns with a loathing for Vance that is almost as intense as its hatred for the man at the top of the ticket.

Zack Beauchamp, a “senior correspondent” at the far-left propaganda organ Vox, wrote Monday that Vance is “friendly, thoughtful, and smart — much smarter than the average politician I’ve interviewed.” Praise from a “journalist” of the caliber of Zack Beauchamp is a red flag. Zack Beauchamp thinks J.D. Vance is smart; Zack Beauchamp also thought that there was a massive bridge connecting Gaza and the West Bank, forcing Vox to issue a Babylon Bee-level correction: “An earlier version of this post suggested there was a bridge connecting Gaza and the West Bank. Various plans to do this have been floated, but the bridge was never actually built.”

Beauchamp also noted in 2021 that a surge in antisemitism in the U.S. coincided with a “recent flare-up in fighting between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas,” which actually made sense, since in some cases, the perpetrators “waved Palestinian flags or shouted pro-Palestinian slogans.” Instead of actually coming to a realization, however, Beauchamp then retreated into his familiar leftist cocoon, improbably blaming Bad Orange Man: “the anti-Semitic attacks are part of the generalized surge in American anti-Semitism since 2016, which most experts link to the rise of Donald Trump and the alt-right movement.” Sure, Zack: supporters of the most pro-Israel president in history have always “waved Palestinian flags or shouted pro-Palestinian slogans.”

Zack Beauchamp is thus not just a doctrinaire leftist; he’s an exceptionally dim bulb. If he thinks you’re smart, you can probably beat the average second grader in a tough game of tic-tac–toe, or parrot the leftist dogmas Beauchamp loves so deeply, albeit ineptly. So Trump’s pick looks disquieting, except that Beauchamp goes on to say that Vance’s “worldview is fundamentally incompatible with the basic principles of American democracy.” When leftists start prattling on about “democracy,” or more commonly, “our democracy,” they mean their own hegemony and dominance of the American public square. If Vance threatens that, Trump has made a good choice after all.

Beauchamp then treats us to a scare paragraph about just what a black-hearted villain Vance really is:

Vance has said that, had he been vice president in 2020, he would have carried out Trump’s scheme for the vice president to overturn the election results. He has fundraised for January 6 rioters. He once called on the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into a Washington Post columnist who penned a critical piece about Trump. After last week’s assassination attempt on Trump, he attempted to whitewash his radicalism by blaming the shooting on Democrats’ rhetoric about democracy without an iota of evidence.

This business about Trump trying to “overturn the election results” is common media spin for efforts to get a genuine investigation of the abundant evidence that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Trump didn’t want Mike Pence to “overturn” the election results, but to withhold certification of the results until the fraud claims were fully investigated (which most never were; most of them that went to court were dismissed on other grounds). Pence clearly could have done this, as the Democrats in Congress later passed a law limiting the vice president’s power in order to ensure that it could not be done in the future.

Numerous Jan. 6 defendants, meanwhile, have languished in prison, in inhuman conditions, for years now without trial. Do they not deserve justice? Or at very least, fair treatment? J.D. Vance thinks so. Zack Beauchamp doesn’t. And as for the request for the criminal investigation of the columnist, it’s no surprise that Vance’s argument went way over Beauchamp’s soy-nourished head; it was an exercise in using the left’s “insurrection” hysteria against the left.

Beauchamp also hates Vance for blaming a leftist’s attempt to murder Trump on the left’s overheated and hysterical rhetoric about the Republican candidate. Vance, you see, is just trying to “whitewash his radicalism.” Never mind all the leftists who have for years now been calling openly for Trump to be killed. In Zack Beauchamp’s tiny Marxist world, they don’t exist.

And so Zack Beauchamp has, in sum, penned a long-form campaign ad for J.D. Vance, and Vox is happily featuring it atop all of its hard-left agitprop. It’s the best testimonial the vice presidential candidate could have wished for.

  2. Wow, a bridge connecting Gaza with the West Bank? Is Zach one of Dr. Seuss’ grandsons?

    There are plenty of examples of celebrities and media either asking for Trump to be taken out, terminated, be on the end of a shooting. You can find montages on YouTube in a 5 minute search.

    Vance is an apparent attempt to double-down on the Trump proposal to begin with. If the Left perceives this as an escalation, so be it. It’s not like there’s any choice that would make them happy. Nothing makes them happy.

    • If there were such a bridge (assuming this made any sense) it would mostly be used to launch Jihad terror attacks on Israel.

  3. The left hate blue collar white Americans ,people who grew up in rural or semi- rural areas, American whites of the south , Vets especial white vets who grew up in small towns. J.D. Vance even though he has a law degree from Yale his roots check all the boxes that the left hate.

      • And that does not factor in also JD Vance converted to Roman Catholic as his religion of choice they hate that religion also

      • Like Vivek, she’s born in this country, although her parents were immigrants. Anyway, she’s not likely to have even a minor role. What do you recall Karen Pence doing when she was Second Lady?

    • @Infidel.. Most Roman Catholics do not align with his views. The doctrine of Catholicism stands on its own. Just as the Pope’s political views stands apart from the Church.

      • That may be, and I can understand Catholics who remain Catholics using that argument. However, what’s more unusual is a non-Catholic converting to Catholicism when he might have differences w/ the head of that sect

        • So if the reason JD Vance converted to being a Roman Catholic is because he sides with the views of the current Pope never mind over 2000 years of traditions and many serving Popes in that time good ,bad and some down rate awful.. Got it so if I am a register Democrat I have to vote for Joe Biden ,and if I am a register Republican I have to vote for Trump is that the thinking here ?By the way many Catholic strongly do not like the current Pope’s communist leaning ideas .Maybe someone could ask the man himself(JD Vance ) if he wants to say why or he will keep his reasons to himself ?The point is the .current progressives hate the Catholic Church and many other Christian sects as well ,and with the abortion issue, the gay marriage issue , it will always be a hot button issue in an election. Converting to Roman Catholic religion for any reason does not endear you to progressives ,Moslems ,environmental nut cases , and the progressive wing of the current left of the democratic party. The progressives have one more reason to hate JD Vance.

        • I think there would be more of a difference b/w someone supporting a political party, regardless of how they were registered, vs someone following a certain religion, which would be locked in their beliefs. Like I have evolved politically on some issues – moved Right, but as far as faith goes, that hasn’t really changed

          Had he been born a Catholic, it would have been one thing. Since he converted to the faith, one would wonder whether the stances of the current pope weren’t considered while he was picking his denomination?

        • JD Vance has written at length about his reasons for converting to Catholicism. He has never once cited the current pontiff as a consideration.

  4. I agree, WPM. He’s a legitimate up from poverty success from a particularly maligned region, a soldier, author, and a Yale law grad. I think that’s why they hate this pick; his success in education, the book world, and politics reminds leftists that their backgrounds of privilege took them a shorter distance than he’s traveled without his bowing down as they have. He supports J6ers’ right to lawful treatment. He’s direct. Like Carlson, he came around on Trump, which is the opposite of what they thought they were selling their souls to achieve.

    Mr. Spencer, as to Zack, whom I’ve never read, anyone who could work with Matt Yglesias has a peabrain. Yglesias is a Harvard grad who can’t manage simple graphs or concepts, let alone basic homophones. VOX must be a cesspool because I only ever used to read Yglesias to see how ridiculously wrong he would be, yet again.

    • I’ve read his book “Hillbilly Elegy”. It touched me–a lot of similrities with mhy own upbringing and committment to make something of myself.

  5. Of the finalists that Trump ended up w/, JD Vance was my first choice. Originally, it was MTG, given how she was one of the few Congresspeople who stood up for Trump 4 years ago in the dark days after the election, even when everyone else was throwing him under the bus

    However, my one concern about this appointment is how it strengthens the legacy faction in the Senate. JD was one of the lone voices against the globalist agenda, the others being Senators Josh Hawley & Rand Paul. Also, if one supports the US pulling out of NATO & getting a freer hand in determining its foreign priorities, one won’t get that from much of the Senate GOP, except those 3. W/ President Trump picking Vance, that only leaves 2 such people in the Senate. Ohio’s governor Mike DeWine has the reputation of being an establishment champion, so he’s unlikely to appoint someone anywhere near as good for that seat once Vance vacates it

    The House GOP is by & large America First, although the thin GOP majority this time & the retirements (& expulsion of George Santos) has given the RINOS in the party the upper hand, particularly when sinking guys like Jordan & Scalise as Speaker. But the Senate is nothing like that. It is still overwhelmingly the Bush party, rather than a Trump party. Although JD, as Senate President, will still have a tiebreaking vote & major influence, I just don’t see a replacement for him that’s as good

    Today the BBC, which specializes in attaching pejorative adjectives to anyone of the Right, described his memoir “Hillbilly Elegy”, as “infamous”.

  8. We shouldn’t trust anybody until we really get to know them. But J.D. Vance use to be a Marine. In most cases, that’s good enough to trust him.

    • Once a Marine always a Marine ,he credits many of his accomplishments with his joining the Marines in his book. .He had some negative things to say about Trump in 2016 ,he said and admitted he was wrong after seeing how Trump,s performance between 2016-2020. He is well read, very good speaker ,and admits he can be wrong or learn from mistakes and grow .Trump is like a street fighter politically ,Vance is polished ,strongly intelligent ,and I think he will be very loyal to Trump ,and I think he loves this country and wants what is best for America. The Vice President once elected cannot be removed by the President Trump will have to stick with him for 4 years if they are elected together. Vance being only 39 years old in good health ,while Trump a very healthy what 79 could face a health crisis ,I want someone smart to step up to the plate not a DEI pick , a laughing idiot , an former mistress to San Francisco mayor who sleep her way up to the top. Harris being president is a very scary idea if Biden is elected or selected again in 2024 that is what you will get .

      • I think that’s another reason they hate this pick; at 39 he’ll be in great form for years yet to come.

        • He could 48-49 or he could be on the supreme court ,the only person who was both a President and supreme court judge was Taft ..

        • I think his wife, who once clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts, might be a more appropriate choice for SCOTUS. Maybe if and when his second term ends in 2036, she might be a good appointment there, assuming that there aren’t better younger constructionist judges available

  9. They hate him, but they would hate anyone they didn’t pick. And in the months before November, every ad will twist the Truth or outright lie, in order to make him look worse than harris…an impossible task. they’ll give it their ugliest, most deceitful efforts.
