One might almost get the impression that authorities were on the side of the jihadis. One would be right.
“Catholic Priest in Nigeria Speaks of ‘an atmosphere of hopelessness’ as Attacks against Christians Continue,” ACI Africa, July 17, 2024:
Attacks against Christians in Nigeria’s Plateau State where nearly 200 Christians were massacred on Christmas Eve 2023 have continued unabated, a Catholic priest serving the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Nigerian State has said.
According to Fr. Andrew Dewan, the Director of communications in Nigeria’s Catholic Diocese of Pankshin, which serves parts of Plateau State, Christians in the region are increasingly becoming hopeless as the government remains indifferent to the plight of the victims of the attacks.
And now, even the survivors of massacres by extremists eight months ago “have no trust” in their leaders as they face continued attacks on their farms and an increasing food shortage, Fr. Dewan tells the Catholic pontifical and charity foundation, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) International, in a Tuesday, July 16 report.
In the report, Fr. Dewan says Christians “feel helpless”, and adds, “We keep encouraging them as priests, as pastors of souls to be hopeful, to be resilient. But things don’t seem to get better… So, there is an atmosphere of hopelessness.”
He goes on to lament that “elected officials are just not interested in the welfare of the people,” and are offering no protection or other practical support to Christian communities whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed.
Instead, Fr. Dewan says, the Church and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have been providing shelter, food, clothing and other basic necessities to IDPs and others struggling to survive.
The Nigerian Catholic Priest, who has been helping to look after IDPs at St Thomas’s Catholic Church in Bokkos, Plateau State, adds that he regularly receives reports of fresh killings and other atrocities….

Jesus said it would be this way. He warned His followers time and again saying, “You will be objects of hatred on account of my Name.” He said His disciple would be “persecuted, haled before kings and governors, murdered by people believing they were performing a service for God,” and said, “When they persecute you in the city, flee to the next.”
But, Jesus also promised that “the days will be cut short or no flesh will be saved; so the days will be cut short on account of the chosen ones.”
The worse things get for Christians, the closer is the relief He promised, “When you see all of these things, lift up your heads and stand erect as your deliverance is near.”
Christians should not depend on human governments to save them, but put their trust in God and Jesus, realizing that They are the only real hope.
All Christians who are murdered, have a resurrection awaiting them.

Back in the flesh and blood real world, standing erect, head lifted while being murdered is not typically what happens.
It’s mostly screaming, wailing, attempting to run, to hide and, ultimately—-to be slaughtered.

Personally I see that “God” helps those who help themselves and the sooner Islam is closed down in this, and every country the better and safer we shall all be. That would please any “God” surely.

People who are not Christians, do not understand the faith Jesus spoke of, and His promises are not given the trust and value which they deserve.
In the ancient nation of Israel, there were times when God….the same God Christians worship…told the Israelites that He would do the fighting for them. an example: “Stand still and see the salvation of Jehovah.”
At times, the people did go out and fight in physical wars.
However:
Christians understand that the fight we have is a *spiritual* battle, and our armor is not physical.
The saying, “God helps those who help themselves” is not from the Bible.
Jesus told us to pray for Him and His Father to help us.
Non Christians may have other ways of dealing with things, and coping with problems, but Christians follow what Jesus said to do.
As it happens, the world leaders are more inclined to allow mozlums to have their way and are not fighting islam. islam is gaining ground, mozlums are increasing, and the territory inhabited by them is growing larger by the day.

“The phrase “God helps those who help themselves” is a motto that emphasizes the importance of self-initiative and agency. The phrase originated in ancient Greece as “the gods help those who help themselves” and may originally have been proverbial.

Those Nigerians died, praying to a god who has still done nothing to prevent this ongoing slaughter.

Which would save more lives here on terra firma: conducting a “spiritual battle” or physical weaponry?

Nigeria: ‘Atmosphere of hopelessness’ as Muslim attacks on Christians continue, ‘officials are just not interested’
…………………………………….
It is even worse than this–many officials in Nigeria are Muslim, and are actually cheering on this genocide of Christians.
MD Anthony says
Yup….those Muslim Officials are just not interested in stopping murderous Muslim attacks on Christians

Bought and paid for has no religion. Nigeria has always been money first.

The problem is that the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria is not the “right narrative” for the Red – Green alliance.

When the wee Popey fella woke up in Vatican City behind the massive Wall around his Temple, built to keep islamic warriors out centuries ago, heard about his flock being slaughtered in Nigeria and he immediately asked for his morning coffee and said these are not real muslims beheading real Christians and so we must bring some of those lovely peaceful muslims fellows into Italy for the sake of diversity because that’s the sort of people we are and we dont need to bother bringing Christians in as we have plenty of them already..
