French Jews have long been wary of the parties of the right, parties that historically have welcomed antisemites and even some collaborators as members. Jean-Marie Le Pen, the father of Marine Le Pen and the founder of the far-right National Front, will always be remembered by French Jews for repeatedly describing the Nazi gas chambers as a mere “detail” of World War II. His daughter broke with him over this remark, denouncing him and expelling him from the party. Since then, she has had nothing to do with him personally or politically. Still, French Jews have been wary of supporting Marine Le Pen — until now. They have finally come to their senses. They have seen during the last eight months how Marine Le Pen and another rightist political figure, Eric Zemmour of the Conquête Party, have attacked Hamas and supported Israel. They now understand that the greatest threat to their wellbeing in France comes from both the burgeoning Muslim population, and from the hard-left Jean-Luc Mélenchon, head of the political party La France Insoumise, who attacks Israel, defends Hamas, and opposes any limits on Muslim immigration. More on French Jews and their political turn to the right can be found here: “French Jews turn to far-right National Rally: ‘We’re voting for the nicest enemy,'” by Michael Starr, Jerusalem Post, June 30, 2024:
Many French Jews are turning away from their prior political mainstays and are voting for the right-wing National Rally in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, Jewish Paris resident David told The Jerusalem Post, as problems arising from immigration and cultural change have risen to the forefront of political discussion.
“Cultural change” is a veiled reference to the effect on French society and culture of millions of Muslims now living in the Hexagon and receiving a cornucopia of benefits from the French state. Many, perhaps most, of them do not wish to integrate into the larger society,, nor to obey French laws or accept French mores, convinced as they are that the French, as Infidels, are the “most vile of created beings.”
David said that everyone in his synagogue was voting for National Rally, as were many other religious Jew he knew. Many of his leftist Jewish friends were either voting for right parties of not voting at all.
“We’re voting for the nicest enemy,” said David, referring to National Rally’s founder’s controversies with Holocaust denial and antisemitism. “It is very hard to vote for them [National Rally], who wants to vote for those who have a history with Nazis.”…
David is confused. Jean-Marie Le Pen founded the National Front, not the National Rally (Rassemblement National). The National Rally’s head, Marine Le Pen, has no “history with Nazis.” It is her father who made an intolerable remark about the Nazi gas chambers being a mere “detail” of World War II, and for that she expelled him from the party, and has had nothing to do with him ever since.
“France has changed so much in the last 10 years,” said David. “The French are not having children.”…
The fertility rate of French women is now 1.8, well below the replacement level of 2.1. The fertility rate for Muslim women in France is 2.9.
“The French don’t deserve a man like Zemmour,” said David, describing the leader of Algerian Jewish extraction as an intelligent man who had a passionate love for French culture and society. Zemmour had long warned about how increasing immigration could change the character of the republic’s culture.
Moving from the Left to the right is a dramatic change for some French Jews, who David said had been left with a difficult choice — But difficult or not, based on what David said, his friends have made the choice all the same.
I disagree with David. French Jews do not have a difficult choice. If they wish to have a future in France, there is only one party that is both willing, and able, to call a halt to mass Muslim immigration. That is the National Rally.

If the Muslims cannot accept the French way of life they need to return to the hell hole from whence they came.
Good for the Jews who voted for Marine Le Pen.
Wellington says
I agree with you on both counts but it is imperative, I think, to realize that Muslims are taught that the entire world is theirs eventually and that they must make every effort to ensure this—and why their going back to their Muslim hell holes is most definitely not how they see things.
Yes, Muslims are entitled to finally rule France, Germany, the UK, Canada, the USA—everywhere. After all, per Muslimthink, they are adherents of the master faith just as many Germans in the early 20th century looked upon themselves as the master race. This kind of pernicious nonsense is what can be expected from any totalitarian ideology.
OLD GU says
True.
PRCS says
RJK,
Important to note, per Wellington’s Jul 1, 2024 at 2:51 pm post: they belief the entire world belongs to Allah, and thus, them.
Note, too: given that French and U.S. immigration laws are likely similar, citizenship being awarded automatically to any and all born in France would prevent the deportation you suggest.
Do you have a gameplan B?
RJ Katz says
Good question. I suppose one could charterize them as quiselings and threaten them with jail time making them so uncomfortable that they might emmigrate.
I realize this is a thorny issue but inevitably the Muslim presence in France may result in a civil war. As it is Muslims have carved out their own enclaves where an infidel may not tread without being injured or killed.
You may have noted that the Muslims and their leftist toadies are rioting now. If they want a civil war the French government should provide it.
I wouldn’t lose any sleep over the loss of a commie or a Muslim as horrible as that might read.
PRCS says
“may result in a civil war”
Though horrible to contemplate, the likely game plan B.

Jews in any Western nation, not just France, should realize that their best interests lie with conservatives and not liberals. I would expand here to the extent that conservatives in one Western nation after another have not made the mistake of going Far Right (though they are falsely accused of doing so by liberals) into reactionary land but liberals aplenty in one Western nation after another, including my own nation, America, have definitely made the mistake of aligning with Far Left elements. Indeed, just about the most significant geopolitical development in the West in the last twenty years or so is that conservatives have remained true to their values but liberals have made a pact with the Far Left devil. Just look at the Democratic Party of the USA as an example of this ominous development.

“ Jews in any Western nation, not just France, should realize that their best interests lie with conservatives and not liberals. ”
Good luck trying to persuade American Jews of that.
As a politically conservative Jew, I find it insanely exasperating to try to budge Jews from their entrenched liberalism/leftism. There is some idée fixe lodged in their brains, like a piece of shrapnel from some long-ago battle. It can’t be removed; else their entire identity would seem to disappear.
Wellington says
Crown: Thank you for your on point comment.
I sympathize with the frustration you must so often feel though not Jewish myself. Dennis Prager, as you probably know an Orthodox Jew himself, has expressed many times his chagrin that so many Jewish-Americans still continue to side with the Left when it’s in their best interests not to do so. Ditto for many others, for instance black Americans (I ain’t black either but just an ancient ex-Roman Catholic of German and Polish descent—but I digress).
All of which tends to prove that old habits combined with ideological convictions even in spite of facts are often both highly resilient to where truth and one’s best interests finally reside. Thus is the way of things. Has always been this way and will always be this way, demonstrating just how difficult often times coming to the right convictions really is.
But, good news here, truth, while elusive so many times, is also resilient and a very dependable ally. Hope springs eternal.

The human condition of not wanting to admit to having been wrong.
To make a change such as that is to admit to an error in judgment.
Wellington says
Agreed, somehistory. But admitting error, all other matters being equal, is far more likely to come from the Christian or the Jew than the Muslim because the first two adhere to a religion which is not an enemy of truth and freedom while the third one is steeped in adhering to a religious belief system which is replete with falsehood as well as being to its very core inimical to freedom.
There is also the component that both Judaism and Christianity allow, indeed welcome and sometimes even demand, humility but Islam with all its “the best of all peoples” rot (Sura 3:110) and “the vilest of creatures” rot (Sura 98:6), while allowing for humility before Allah (a perversion of the Judeo-Christian deity I would contend but this is for another day), does not allow for humility before one’s fellow man. This is one of many huge differences between the Judeo-Christian assessment of existence here on Earth v. the Islamic “take.”
Just my two cents here, somehistory, for what it is worth. Hope you and family are well and may you have a memorable 4th of July which celebrates the birth of a great nation and which both Islam and the Left intensely desire to destroy.
somehistory says
I always enjoy reading your comments, Wellington. Thank you.
And thank you for the well-wishes. I hope the same for you and your family.
My family and I lived once very near a body of water which served as a place for the July fireworks. It was a two-story house with balconies as in older times. We would go out and listen and watch.
The sounds were very much like war and it made me imagine how it was back when brave and honest men were fighting for freedom and then later when Francis Scott Key wrote of it.
Now it seems that people use fireworks just for the noise they can make…many days when they might better be reflecting on the whys and why nots.
Again, thank you for your reply.

I think Donald Trump, during his presidency, made a mistake in suggesting that liberal U.S. Jews were somehow “not real Jews” for not voting for him.
Of course, most U.S. Jews are socially liberal, and generally support policies which favour pro-choice (on abortion), affirmative action, pro-LGBT, anti-death penalty (though not always), pro-euthanasia, pro-environment, and so on.
I’m generalising of course, but people don’t like being told that they cannot be both Jewish and liberal at thevsame time. I believe that is what caused the alienation of many U.S. Jews from the Republican Party and conservatives.

Islam is a religion as well as a subversive totalitarian political ideology supported by the whole Muslim world. Muslims living in non Muslim lands are in a form of exile from Islamic rule as such they are foreign state actors working either directly or indirectly to bring about totalitarian Islamic rule. The sooner free Democratic nations states come to this conclusion the better. Totalitarian governments can arise suddenly or slowly over time. In either case the end result is the same. Islam has a successful playbook using the slow as you go strategy. Quite literally France and England are dealing with an alien ‘life’ form of the sort from the movie of that name. As I have suggested before there has to be a way to make the Ummah financially responsible for the negative consequences and actions of their ‘citizens in exile’.

Great news about the French election. I hope National Rally wins a complete majority next Sunday.
Eric Zemmour’s policy has everything right, and I hope to see him in Le Pen’s government.
The most encouraging news in a long time.

I do hope that Jews worldwide follow their example and start voting Right. Be it French Jews for National Rally, British Jews for Britain First, German Jews for AfD, Dutch Jews for PVV (if they haven’t already), Italian Jews for Lega Nord, and so on. Oh, and here in the US, US Jews for the GOP
Time to stop voting stupid
John Pepple says
It’s very difficult to make a political change. I turned to the left my senior year in high school, 1968, and mostly stuck with them till the day after the election in 1994. But even though I had turned toward the right, four years later in 1998 I could still only manage to vote for just one Republican. It wasn’t until 2000 that I refused to vote for any Democrats.
After all, all of one’s friends are likely to share one’s political beliefs, so one has to reach out to new friends and abandon the old, or else hide one’s new political identity. Possibly, even one’s job was chosen due to one’s political beliefs. And one’s news sources are all based on one’s political beliefs. So, all of this has to change.
Most important, one has been told not merely that the other side has different values, but that they are EVIL. I know a liberal woman who is ready to turn to the Republicans, except that she hates Trump. I hated Reagan while he was in office, but now like him.
It just takes a long time to change one’s whole life.
James Lincoln says
Excellent post, John.

As soon as the ‘far right’ gets in charge they MUST ban all refugee and family reunion migration. Need to get out of the UN Refugee Convention. Need to stop all welfare to undocumented (illegal?) migrants. Give all the welfare money saved to the poor and to disadvantaged French farmers. This will mean rioting on the streets of all French cities by Muslims but for the future of France it must be done.
