Irish Lunatic Clare Daly Loses Her MEP Race

It’s a good gig, being a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). The salary and benefits are handsome, far more than most of its members could earn as minor politicians at home. It’s been just the ticket for far-left Clare Daly, the Irishwoman MEP who, while she defends Communist China and Putin, and attacks capitalism, likes living high on the hog herself. What she doesn’t like, not one bit, is that little Jewish state, Israel, that so annoyingly refuses to disappear. Now Clare Daly has lost her European Parliament seat, her base salary of $150,000, her other allowances and perks, and her megaphone in Brussels. Irish left wing pro-Palestinian activist Clare Daly lost her seat in the European Parliament after falling behind her rivals in Dublin’s constituency, The Guardian reported on Tuesday [June 11]….

Furthermore, The Guardian noted that Daly lost her seat despite endorsements from celebrities such as Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox and actress Susan Sarandon.

Sarandon herself is a prominent anti-Israel activist who has been embroiled in several controversies in which the Rocky Horror Picture Show actress has been accused of antisemitism….

Both Annie Lennox and Susan Sarandon have long been obsessive critics of Israel. At this year’s Grammys, Lennox called for — only four months into the war — an immediate “ceasefire” that would have been a life-saving gift to Hamas. Both Lennox and Sarandon — and Clare Daly too — have accused the IDF of committing “genocide” in Gaza.

The former MEP posted on X, formerly Twitter, on April 29 that “The entire world knows it is Israel destabilizing the region, committing genocide and lawless acts of aggression against its neighbors.”

In addition to accusing Israel of committing genocide, Daly accused the European Parliament of attempting to “tell a fairytale in which Iran’s the aggressor.”

So Iran’s attack on Israel on April 13, when it launched 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles toward Israel, was not an aggression? Iran’s supplying 150,000 rockets and missiles to Hezbollah, to be used against Israel, is not an aggression? Iran’s giving both money and weapons to the Houthis in Yemen, to be used by them not just in the Yemeni civil war, but also against shipping in the Red Sea, in order to shut down Israel’s shortest maritime route to Asia, is not aggression? Iran’s money and weapons sent to Hamas in Gaza, smuggled in through tunnels connecting Egypt’s Sinai to the Strip, does not constitute aggression? But the IDF fighting to dismantle the terror group Hamas, after the rapes, tortures, and murders its operatives carried out on October 7? That, for Clare Daly, is aggression.

Following the announcement of her loss at the elections, the former MEP posted on X, thanking those who voted for her and stating that she had “been honoured … to use this platform as a powerful voice for peace, antimilitarism, and neutrality.”

Daly added that the vote was not “a rejection of those ideas.”

No, the vote against her was indeed a rejection of Daly’s most peculiar ideas as to what constitutes a “voice for peace” and “antimilitarism.” After all, her favorite political leader is Vladimir Putin. She is also a great supporter of Communist China, and a defender of Iran.

Daly has long supported Putin. Before the outbreak of the Ukraine war Daly said the Russian troop build-up on Ukraine’s border was “clearly defensive” and predicted that Putin would not invade. Following the invasion she came out against Russian sanctions and in March 2022 voted against a European Parliament resolution condemning the invasion, positions which have earned her praise on Russian media. In 2022, Ukraine’s security agency put Daly on a list of public figures who promote Russian propaganda.

She was also one of only a handful of members of the European Parliament to vote against a resolution calling for the establishment of a special international tribunal to prosecute Russia’s leadership for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. That resolution was passed with 472 votes in favor 33 abstentions, and 19 against in a European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg.

She is known as one of Communist China’s staunchest supporters in the European Parliament, quoted favorably in the Chinese media. The Chinese were especially pleased when Daly told China’s official state news agency that accusations of a genocide against the Uighurs and other Muslim minorities in Xinjiang are “complete and utter nonsense.” Her comments were featured in a state TV report.

If you can stand it, you can see Clare Daly nattering on here about how terrible it was for European leaders to express support for Israel in the weeks following the October 7 attack by Hamas and again after the Iranian attack on April 13. She doesn’t hold back about the “genocidal” Israelis, and lashes out at those Europeans who “are complicit in Israel’s unprecedented crimes.” She is especially incensed at the President of the European Commission, Ursula van der Leyen, for expressing her solidarity with Israel. Daly calls her a “genocidal psychopath.”

Opponents of Putin and Xi Jinping and Ayatollah Khamenei will be glad to see Daly pack up and leave Brussels. Annie Lennox and Susan Sarandon are, of course, disconsolate at their soul sister and fellow traveler Clare Daly’s loss. So are Roger Waters and Eric Clapton, or would be if they heard about it, and I suspect they have. But those who detest Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping and the Ayatollah Khamenei will be glad to see Daly pack up her bags and leave Brussels. The Israelis are delighted. And so am I, and so, I suspect, are you.

Don’t worry about Clare Daly. People like that always manage. She’ll no doubt find a spot writing opinion columns for the English-language Moscow Times. Or perhaps even more fitting, she’ll be snapped up by Al Jazeera.

  6. Yes, I am pleased. This whole story was news to me. I had never heard of Clare Daly before. She sounds like a psychopath.

    Always a little something to rejoice at when the democratic process does right and rids us of these maniacs.

      • How do such people ever get in? Her election slogan couldn’t have been “vote for me, I’ll turn Ireland into a diversity wastel… err… paradise”.

        Maybe there’ll be a bit of welcome change now with fewer lunatics in the EU calling for ever more immigration as a solution to all the problems immirgration bestowed on us. I’m not betting an aluminium groat on the Germans’ chances. Their whole approach is extremely schizophrenic. Even after everything else and now that several Afghans stabbed people in Germany and Austria, what do the German ruling elite think is the solution? More immigration from Afghanistan and surrounding high centres of social, industrial and academic excellence. And whilst one bit of the German government is calling for more cultural enrichment, another bit is disposing of it in a despicable manner:

    Glad to hear this. Clare Daly is a nasty piece of work–she supports dictators, including in Iran. She is a member of the far left Irish party “Independents 4 Change”. Fellow member Mick Wallace has also lost his MEP seat. A bit of sanity.

        A couple of years ago, I saw Mark Steyn on his GBNews gig pose the question to one of his guests on how the likes of Michael Collins or Eamon d’Valera would have reacted to Ireland getting infiltrated not by Protestants, but rather by muslims. His guest – probably not a fan of the Irish – joked that they would have mistaken the hijab-clad beings as nuns ?

  11. As an Irish person, I personally couldn’t be happier to know that this extremist leftard, terrorist loving fascist piece of garbage has lost her seat in Europe. People like this woman (if you could even call her that), make me ashamed to be Irish. She also, for those who don’t know it, was done several years ago for DUI. Specimens like her are a stain on humanity. Clare Daly, you, and your like minded specimens are the lowest of the lowest.

  14. She was right on many subjects and was often a lone voice in that corrupt Parliament. She did not support the EU backing for the Ukraine meat grinder . Her anti Israel stance is most likely out of ignorance of all the history involved in that uncomfortable region.
