Heroism and Barbarism At Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha

Palestinian Islamic Jihad has just let loose a barrage of rockets at a target in Israel. The attack received no mention in the world media, not even in the Hebrew-language media. But it deserves notice. More about the attack and its target, a kibbutz named Ein Hashlosha, can be found here: “The unreported, everyday barbarism of Gaza terrorists, and the everyday heroism of the Israelis who live nearby,” Elder of Ziyon, June 21, 2024:

On Thursday, Islamic Jihad proudly published a video of them shooting rockets at a civilian Jewish community near Gaza.

They are very proud of their accomplishment of being able to still fire rockets from Gaza. 

The story was not covered in the media, evern Hebrew-language media, except for the red alert. No one was hurt from the rockets. There are a lot of more important stories out there.

But this is a story must be told. 

Islamic Jihad didn’t pretend to be shooting rockets at a military base, which used to be the lie that Gaza terror groups would claim in years past. They said they aimed at a “settlement.” They are directly and deliberately targeting civilians. It is a war crime….

PIJ might have said nothing about its target. But it wanted to make sure those it had been aiming at were aware that they were in its gunsights; it wanted them to know that they were, and will remain, a target. For the “settlement” in question was one of the kibbutzim where Israelis were murdered on October 7, a “settlement” to which those who had left after October 7 returned only in March, after spending five months in Eilat, as internally displaced citizens of Israel. The PIJ wanted to target and terrify them yet again.

Islamic Jihad is not targeting an empty community. They chose to target a place where the residents – all civilians, including 92 children – have returned….

Islamic Jihad wants to fill with dread the Israelis who, after five months of living in Eilat, managed to return home. Again, the PIJ rockets appear to be announcing that “we will hit you again and again.” And “even when you Zionists summon up the courage to return, we will hit you, and harm you, in your homes, until your lives become unbearable.”

Think of the courage it takes to return to the place where terrorists once raped, tortured, murdered, and kidnapped your relatives, friends, and neighbors. Think of the courage it takes to live in a place where at any minute, when the red alert sounds, you have only five seconds to run to a shelter. If you nonetheless choose to live again in your homes at the kibbutz, you are making a statement: we will not be made afraid. To live in Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha is an act of individual and collective heroism.

And that is why the IDF must be supported, not hindered, as the Bidenites have been attempting, in its campaign to dismantle the barbarians of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, so that never again will they be able to threaten those Israelis who choose to return, in an act of heroism and hope, like those who went back to their homes in Ein Hashlosha.
