Azerbaijan is systematically erasing the Armenian Christian heritage in Artsakh

This kind of thing has happened all over what is known as the Islamic world. Indeed, this was how the Islamic world was created.

“USCIRF Report Underlines Azerbaijani Destruction of Armenian Heritage in Artsakh,” International Christian Concern, June 6, 2024:

6/6/2024 Armenia/Azerbaijan (International Christian Concern) — The 2024 annual report of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) underlined the ongoing Azerbaijani destruction of Armenian Christian heritage in Artsakh. This comes as USCIRF recommended that the State Department name Azerbaijan as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC), a designation under the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA), which applies to “countries that commit systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.”

The USCIRF report cited three historic sites of Armenian heritage in the Shushi province of Artsakh, which has now been reintegrated into Azerbaijan. In October and November 2023, Azerbaijan damaged the archeological remains of the 1838 Meghretsots Holy Mother of God Church, the Yerevan Gate Cemetery, and the Ghazanchetsots cemetery, according to satellite imagery published by Caucasus Heritage Watch, an investigative institution supported by Cornell University. Likewise, International Christian Concern (ICC) recently reported on the Azerbaijani destruction of a church and an entire village also in the Shushi province of Artsakh.

This shows that Azerbaijan has continued its push to erase the presence of Armenian cultural and historical monuments. After the fall of Artsakh in September 2023, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention — a U.S.-based non-governmental organization (NGO) — denounced that Azerbaijan indicated it had “genocidal intent against Armenians and particularly against Armenians in Artsakh” and called the continuing destruction of Armenian churches and other historical monuments in Artsakh a “cultural genocide” intending “to erase the historical presence” of Armenian heritage in the region….

    mozlums and others are fulfilling the words of His prophecy all over the earth. And the persecution, the ‘stealing, killing and destroying’ by the “The thief” will continue until Jesus returns and brings an end to it.

  2. Not only do they wish to eradicate any trace of Armenian culture and Christianity, they want to cleanse Armenians period.

      • Hi Infidel,
        Russia took a lot of Armenians in during the genocide, and Armenia has always had warm relations with Moscow. Until now. This article explains the souring and animosity towards Russia better than I could.

        Between the government protests and now the ill will with Russia, I think Armenia could be the next world hot spot.

  4. I am impressed that the USCIRF of this administration spoke out against muslims destroying Christian heritage sites. Rashad Hussein, the State Department’s ambassador in charge of international religious freedom, must have been asleep at the wheel

    So will any sanctions follow against Azerbaijan?

    • I’m not holding my breath. Rashad Hussein isn’t the only one in this administration asleep at the wheel.

  8. This is what muslims do……everywhere they go. They either destroy churches, temples and synagogues and put their mosques on top, or tear off all religious symbols and make these places of worship into mosques .
    This is happening in our countries right now. In the UK churches are sold to moslems to be made into mosques. And Christian graves are desecrated , gravestones , even historical ones, are removes and either repurposed into the mosque or trashed, and destroyed. There are many church that have no one attending, and there has been the falling away from Christianity.

    And they scour the countryside destroying the evidence any other people lived there. ( They are currently doing this in the Middle East, wheeeever they can, particular on the Temple Mount, they are trying to destroy all evidence that Jews lived in the land of Israel . They claim Israel deliberately buries artifacts so the Jews can then dig them up and falsely claim that Jews lived in particular areas for thousands of years.
    Muslims claim Allah gave Muslims the entire earth for their use, so eveyone else is an occupier of Islamic land. Especially is Muslims have once lived there and been chased lout like in Spain. The Muslim re taking of Spain will be brutal in the extreme.
    ISIS did this , destroying and looting the artifacts in the museum in areas they conquered, and to the ancient Buddha statues.
    You can see this behavior in the way Muslims have tried to destroy evidence of Arab life before Islam, and they way they claim it was a horrible, violent time to live.
