Ever since October 7, Hezbollah has been helping Hamas in its war with Israel by opening a second front in Israel’s north. The group has been firing near-daily barrages of rockets into Israel that have forced 80,000 Israelis to leave their homes in northern Israel; they are internally displaced citizens of Israel who cannot return until Hezbollah stops its firing. So far, the IDF’s response of airstrikes on Hezbollah’s weapons depots and on key members of its military, especially those involved in weapons development, have not proved sufficient to dissuade Hezbollah from its attacks. Hezbollah has clearly been the aggressor; Israel has responded with tit-for-tat attacks. But according to the EU’s foreign policy head, Josep Borrell, it is Israel that has been the aggressor. More on Borrell’s skewed view can be found here: “Hezbollah threatens Israel, Cyprus and the Mediterranean. EU’s Borrell says Israel is the aggressor.” Elder of Ziyon, June 25, 2024:
Last Wednesday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah threatened to invade northern Israel.
He threatened to shoot rockets at every part of Israel.
He threatened to attack any Israeli shipping in the Mediterranean.
He threatened to attack the entire country of Cyprus.
How did EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell respond to explicit threats to expand the current fighting to become a region-wide conflict?
By warning that Israel is the aggressor.
European foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Monday that the Middle East was close to seeing the conflict expanding into Lebanon just days after Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah threatened EU member Cyprus.
Josep Borrell has said nothing about Hezbollah’s rocket barrages in the north. He said nothing about the 80,000 Israelis who, as a consequence of those rockets, have had to leave the north and become internally displaced, and will remain in that condition until Hezbollah can be persuaded, through diplomacy or military means, to halt those attacks. Borrell said nothing, either about Nasrallah’s threat to attack Cyrus, a member of the very EU that employs Borrell.
“The risk of this war affecting the south of Lebanon and spilling over is every day bigger,” Borrell told reporters ahead of a foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg….
Why did Borrell mention only the risk to “the south of Lebanon” when warning of a possible war between Israel and Hezbollah? Does he think that in such a conflict Israel would not suffer terribly? Why did he not say that “Hezbollah’s continued attacks on northern Israel have led to an untenable situation for 80,000 displaced Israelis, and could lead to an all-out war between the Lebanese Shi’a group, which is deeply popular in Lebanon, and the state of Israel”? Is it because, given his deep animus to the Jewish state, he feels compelled to blame tiny Israel, and not the true aggressor Hezbollah, for the fraught situation on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon?
And why did Borrell not mention Hezbollah’s refusal to honor its commitment, under UNSC Resolution 1701, to pull back its operatives from the border area, and to keep them north of the Litani River?
Let’s remind Borrell of who started the latest conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. It was a decision by Hezbollah, likely prompted by Iran, to open up a second front while Israel was preoccupied with fighting Hamas in Gaza. Hezbollah started its rocket attacks on October 8 and has not let up since. Israel does not want a war with Hezbollah. But such a war may be unavoidable if Hezbollah’s rocket barrages make it impossible for 80,000 Israelis to return to their home in the north.
Josep Borrell finds it impossible to blame Hezbollah for this state of affairs. According to him, “the fight against Hezbollah can bring the whole region into a serious crisis.” That’s right: not Hezbollah’s rocket attacks, but the IDF’s determination to stop those attacks, is what “can bring the whole region into a serious crisis.” He has everything backwards. But in his worldview, the Jewish state is always in the wrong, and those who hope to make it disappear, to be replaced by a 23rd Arab state, are always in the right. Josep Borrell has been in office since 2019. He’s now completing his disastrous quinquennium, during which he provided moral and diplomatic support, first for Hamas, and latterly, for Hezbollah. It’s long past time for him to go.

The media/left hardly mentions the daily rocket attacks on Israel by Hezbollah/Iran.
That any nation should put up with these attacks and restrain itself from protecting its territory is preposterous. Only Israel is asked for this restraint. Sick world

Dummy Josep Borrell must be a real idiot. Likewise, he may be that he understands nothing.
For it’s the aggression of Hezbollah that threatens peace in the Northern Front in its aggression by launching deadly missile attacks into North Israel with the vicious and malice-filled intention of murdering the Jewish people who are the citizens of the State of Israel.
Furthermore, Borrelll in addition to being an idiot ,must also be a godless man who is an abomination , who is an in the sight of God . The reason why this is so is because the Bible informs its reader “Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent – the Lord detests them both.” Proverbs 17:15. [N.I.V.]

I never thought I’d see the day when Hezbollah firing thousands of rockets at Israel is characterized as Israel expanding the war against Hamas to gain territory in Lebanon.

I’m addressing this to Hugh Fitzgerald.
I and others who read this site and your articles wish to ask you this : What can we do? Is there a way for you to print an email address to protest these people (at the EU) as well as other ACTIONABLE things? Since the U.S. has poor Jewish groups that should have been defending and organizing on behalf of us, almost none exist and I should know because last summer I had a bit of a disagreement with the editor and it was JNS. How can the Jewish community fight this and after all it isn’t just the Jews that are threatened by Islam – it is Christianity and the whole U.S. nation.
So, please tell us if you can, what way can we help by DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THESE THINGS as well as other things done by Islamists that are harming the US?
I will await your answer.

Josep Borrell is a member of the Socialists Workers Party in Spain. SWP is a marxists/trotskyite group that promoted the Third International which stood for the obliteration of private property and the dissolution of the (bourgeois) family. These two political aims are now goals of the elitists Globalism movement which also wants to erase national borders. How this man remains in the EU is a testament to the decline and ultimate decay of the EU.
