“Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Attack Catholic School in Nigeria,” Morning Star News, May 10, 2024:
ABUJA, Nigeria (Christian Daily International–Morning Star News) – Gunmen in an area of Nigeria where Fulani herdsmen are active attacked a Catholic school on Tuesday night (May 7), wounding a security guard in an apparent kidnapping attempt.
In Adeke, a suburb of Makurdi, capital of Benue state, the assailants fired shots at the Father Angus Frazer Memorial High School, wounding the security guard. Civil Defense personnel rushed to the school and foiled the attempt to kidnap students residing at the institution, officials said.
The Rev. Moses Iorapuu, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, said in a press statement that officials closed the school on Wednesday (May 8) as a precaution.
“The principal, Fr. Emmanuel Ogwuche, and the students are all safe, except for a security officer who was badly injured in the attack and is receiving attention at the hospital,” Iorapuu said. “We also appreciate the professionalism of the Civil Defense officers who provide security at the school.”
Iorapuu said the assailants shot indiscriminately at both students and staff members asleep at the school, which is managed by the Via Christi Society. Actions by the principal and a team of Civil Defense officers repelled the attack and averted catastrophe, he said.
Fulanis “have attacked churchgoers, farmers and villagers before, but now they have upped their game, attacking a school,” Iorapuu told Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), according to the Catholic Herald. “We are not sure what is going to happen next.”
He said police did not arrive until after the assailants had left.
The school is reportedly located in a district notorious for killings and kidnappings by suspected Fulani militants….

Yes. The same principle of possibly withholding foreign aid money and resources should also be applied to other countries such as Pakistsn, where there is widespread descrimination and oppression towards religious minorities.

Why call Fulani hersmen, they should be called Fulani terrorists or jihadists, or better, devoted and pious muslims. The only reason they attack Christians is because they are following Islamic teaching, so they are entitled to be called pious and devoted muslims.

It sounds that we want Christianity with all the comforts and rewards with no persecution. We need to see ourselves in the light of what He said, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
it seems to me, our need and want is to promoter the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ driving our expensive cars, residing in our comfortable mansions, and dining the best restaurant. Prosperity with no causality. Good luck hypocrisy!

Are you saying if a Christian has a nice car, he is a hypocrite?
Our homes in the U.S. and elsewhere may be considered “mansions” compared to what some may call home in such places as Africa, but does that mean we should live in a shack without power in order not to be hypocrites?
Many, if not most, Christians may not dine in the “best restaurants”, but for the ones who can afford to eat out, how does that make them hypocrites?
The definition of hypocrite, which some have no clue about, is to do something and tell others not to do it.
As Paul said, ”Do you, the one telling others not to steal, do you steal”?
Jesus gave the example of the Pharisees who knew the Law and demanded that the rest of the Jews do as they say, while they did what they knew was wrong. The Pharisees ‘gagged at the gnat, and swallowed the camel.’
Christians don’t have to go and live in Africa as native Africans do in order to be True Christians.
