Human Rights Watch (HRW) says an ISIS-affiliated armed group in northern Mozambique is recruiting boys as young as 13 to participate in raids against Mozambican authorities and villagers in the region.
HRW’s senior Africa researcher Zenaida said in one of the incidents that occurred on May 10, the group – known locally as Al-Shabab – used child soldiers to raid and loot the town of Macomia in Cabo Delgado province.
“The armed group Al-Shabab’s use of children as soldiers is cruel, unlawful, and only adds to the horrors of Cabo Delgado’s conflict,” Machado said in a statement on Thursday.
He said the extent of the children’s involvement in direct combat remains uncertain, but noted that the use of children under 15 in armed conflict constitutes a war crime.
Witnesses, including family members, identified several boys among the insurgents who raided Macomia armed with AK-style rifles and ammunition belts. Notably, two relatives recognised a 13-year-old nephew among the fighters….

This seems to be a recurring problem in Africa. The use of child as “soldiers”. Apparently there is no lack of dangerous arms with which to arm 10 year olds. Too bad that is not the case with the real necessities of life like food, clean water, schools and hospitals. Those are always in short supply. Arming children is man’s inhumanity to man. I recall that arafat’s army after being kicked out of Jordan and going into Lebanon used teenagers to act as a de facto police force stopping Lebanese in their cars and demanding payments ….or else. What a frightening situation it is to be confronted by a kid with an army assault machine gun. All he has to do is pull back the trigger and you are dead. “Leaders” who use children with sophisticated weapons should be an automatic Death Sentence worldwide with no room for amnesty.

All you say is true, Rick. and little kids, trained to shoot, have no reasonable idea of when they shouldn’t do as they are commanded by ghouls who abuse and threaten them. Unlike an adult, forced into some awful situation who may be able to change things by certain words and actions, the children can’t reason things out, so they do as they are told, and shoot to kill.

She says the beatings and rapes drive her away, but she returns because she has no place in society without him. HP, it’s necessary to get this news out, but it is just about impossible to read it. The poor baby. she has my heartfelt sympathy, and I wish I could do something to help her.
I pray that soon the God of all Loving Kindness will bring an end to this evil and restore things to “earth as they are in heaven.”
