Canada continues to showcase its blind spot when it comes to the Palestinians. “Canada imposes sanctions on perpetrators of extremist settler violence against civilians in West Bank,” Global Affairs Canada, May 16, 2024:
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that Canada is imposing new sanctions under the Special Economic Measures Act.
These are the first sanctions measures listing extremist Israeli settlers. Canada remains concerned with extremist settler violence and will examine additional measures in response to the grave breach of international peace and security posed by their violent and destabilizing actions against Palestinian civilians and their property in the West Bank.
Attacks by extremist Israeli settlers—a long-standing source of tension and conflict in the region—have escalated alarmingly in recent months. This has undermined the human rights of Palestinians, prospects for a 2-state solution and posed significant risks to regional security.
The United Nations has reported that since October 7, 2023, there have been at least 800 settler attacks against Palestinians. Many Palestinian civilians have been verbally or physically assaulted or killed; private property has been damaged and farms destroyed. These attacks have resulted in the forced displacement of Palestinian communities and significantly contributed to growing regional insecurity…
Was any investigation conducted by Canada into the claim of “800 settler attacks”? Were any of those cases of self-defense? Who provided the numbers? And so on. A full investigation was necessary, particularly given the Palestinian history of attacking and killing Israeli citizens.
A picture does indeed speak a thousand words: two months ago, the “honourable Melanie Joly” posed in a photo holding hands with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Nothing the Palestinians have done or can do appears to shake the blatant bias of the Trudeau government in favor of the Palestinians, or even leads Trudeau officials to question them.
A Fatah TV anchor recently accused Hamas of killing aid workers, stealing food and water, and manufacturing the Gaza food crisis. The Jerusalem Post also reported the same. Yet Canada just announced a $65 million in international assistance funding “to support needs of Palestinians.” Canada also gave $25 million to UNRWA “as part of its previously announced existing multi-year commitment with the agency.” Not even news that UNRWA is stealing aid in Gaza, nor that UNRWA staff participated in October 7 and called captive women sex slaves, has budged the Canadian government. Also, Canada still hasn’t branded Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization.
Canada is unfairly scrutinizing and punishing the Jewish state without adequate investigation by imposing sanctions on alleged “perpetrators of extremist settler violence against civilians” in Judea and Samaria.
When has the Trudeau government ever sanctioned the Palestinian Authority for encouraging the murder of Israelis via its pay-for-slay program? In fact, in 2019, the Trudeau government broke with Canadian precedent to support an anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian UN resolution.
Canada’s actions against the Jewish state vis-a-vis the Palestinians, and in the face of Hamas atrocities, are highly questionable.

I am a Canadian citizen and I am embarassed of the Canadian government. Trudeau is the worst prime minister. Time for the Trudeau family to get out of politics and go back to peddling pots and pans,and potatoes (yes, there is a brand of Trudeau pots and pans. I saw them at walmarts)

Trudeau’s family (Justin’s grandfather) made its millions off a string of gas stations in Quebec. Now Justin is trying to strangle the gas and oil industry in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
I think it safe to say no proper investigation was conducted before sanctions were applied. It’s all about appeasing Muslim voters in Canada. The Trudeau Liberals losing to the Conservatives by over 20 points in the polls.
