California imam: ‘Every ounce of fear that you put in their hearts by your lawful protests is rewarded by Allah’

I’ve often noted that not just jihadis and jihad sympathizers, but also “moderate” Muslims, tenured university Islamic scholars and the like love to engage in intimidation. It’s a constant and favored tactic. And this is why.

Tarik Ata quotes this verse from the Qur’an: “It is not for the townspeople of Medina and for those around them of the nomadic Arabs to stay behind the messenger of Allah and prefer their lives to his life. That is because neither thirst nor toil nor hunger afflicts them in the way of Allah, nor do they take any step that angers the unbelievers, nor do they gain anything from the enemy, except that a good deed is recorded for them for it. Indeed, Allah does not lose the wages of the good.” (9:120)

Angering the unbelievers, or infuriating the infidels, is presented as a positive good, which brings reward from Allah to the believers.

Tarik Ata, the imam of the Orange County Islamic Foundation in California addressed Muslim students in college campus pro-Gaza encampments in two videos uploaded in late April 2024. He said that Allah will reward the students for fighting for His cause and the anger and fear they are inflicting on “these cruel people, the enemies of humanity,” Netanyahu and his “thugs,” as well as the supporters of the war in Gaza. Ata likened Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Hitler, and he added that Zionism is like Nazism. He said that American imams and Muslim organizations are inspired by the bravery and courage of these students. Ata added: “What better deed can American Muslims access right now?” The videos were posted on the Instagram account of the Muslim Student Association on the West Cost MSA West on Instagram on April 30, 2024 and on the YouTube channel of the Orange County Islamic Foundation on April 26, 2024.

Tarik Ata: “This is a message, once again, to my dear brothers and sisters, protesting on campuses, camping out.

“Allah says: ‘Indeed Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in battel array, as though they were a solid structure.’ Allah loves those who fight for a cause side by side, in order to please Allah.

“So this is a moment that you will be infinitely proud of for the remainder of your life and especially and more importantly in the Afterlife. I am thinking what better good deed can American Muslims access right now than what you all are doing? The earth under you is so happy that you are standing on it, because you are doing something that is tremendously pleasing to Allah.

“We say [to Netanyahu] that the only comparison today between Nazi Germany and that whole fiasco – that terrible situation – and what is going on today is that you, Netanyahu, are similar to Hitler and Zionism is similar to Nazism.

“My final message to the college students: We are watching these events – because a lot of these college students think that the mosques, the imams, the Muslim organizations really don’t know what is going on, and we are not there to support them. No, no. We see exactly what is going on and we are inspired by your bravery. We are impressed by your courage, and we love you and what you are doing.

“I remind you that every step you take for the sake of Allah in this cause will get you rewards, that every ounce of fear and anger that you out in the heart of Netanyahu and his thugs, and all those who support, collaborate, and finance this violent and inhumane war against a primarily civilian population – every ounce of fear that you put in their hearts by your lawful protests is rewarded by Allah, as the Quran says: ‘Whenever they step into a place which infuriates the infidels, and whenever they make a gain form [sic] an enemy, a good deed is recorded for them. Allah never wastes a reward for those who do a good deed.’ Allah says in this verse that whatever step you take that brings you pain – emotional pain, I mean – that brings fear into the hearts of these cruel people, these enemies of humanity, that you will be rewarded for it.”

        • As the teacher in Germany in the article here yesterday pointed out, any and every thing that challenges muslim students they declare haram and refuse to proceed. So, even in western countries muslims are unlikely to learn sufficient analysis skills to read their teachings with a clear mind. Good post, but they’re handed quite the shield to guard against any real comprehension.

  9. Big Talker, Tarik Ata, when faced with angry Americans would run for his life. When Americans are fed up, things happen, though we aren’t there yet as a society about Islam. We are always slow yet super-aggressive in response to threat as the Japanese and German nations discovered.

    Be assured, that if we were attacked, as was Israel, that the response would be worse than what Israel is delivering in Rafah. That was amply demonstrated in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. What we learned was it’s impossible to occupy a militant Islamic nation without experiencing constant insurgency. The lesson is: Destroy its infrastructure and leave – which is the likely result if the US is ever forced into war with Iran.

    Russia suffered in Aghanistan, with arms assistance from the US, but learned that lesson of, destroy-and-leave, before their internal clash with Islam. Now Islamists volunteer to fight FOR Russia in Ukraine. Islam respects no whimp.

    Our leadership should realize that Russia would apply the same lesson to NATO nations if it is sufficiently pressed. Macron is playing an inch-at-a-time Jenga-like game with his Foreign Legion to entice other NATO countries to send troops, while Russia views it as an existential threat.

    Tarik Ata is flapping his gums in CA about Israel while his fate is being determined in Ukraine. I believe Russia, if pushed too far, will bomb the most militant nations of NATO, simultaneously, perhaps starting with EMP weapons. Crazy? It would require a madman? Unthinkable? That is why it’s possible.

    Allah cannot reward anyone because the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is going to reward him and his followers with an eternity in hell – no houris, no eternal virgins, no eternal sex, no beds with green cushions and beautiful carpets, only darkness, eternal gnashing of teeth, eternal separation from the true God of the Bible, and eternal fire and brimstone.

    The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peters 3:9).

    By “lawful”, he means lawful in Islam to terrorize Jews and other Infidels–not lawful under our civilized laws.

    That is the main point of Islam–to cause Infidels such fear that they convert to the vicious creed of Islam–and make it clear that those who don’t give in to this fear will be brutalized or murdered outright. How dare the despised Jews defend themselves against this?
