Tithy Sarkar had little chance of getting a fair trial in Islamic Bangladesh. The accusation of blasphemy is widely taken as proof of guilt, as it is in Pakistan.
“Is Bangladesh becoming new Pakistan? Hindu girl sentenced to 5 years in jail over accusation of ‘blasphemy,’” OpIndia, May 14, 2024:
Four years after a Bangladeshi Hindu girl named Tithy Sarkar was accused of insulting Prophet Muhammad and committing ‘blasphemy’ on social media, a court in Dhaka sentenced her to 5 years in prison.
The disturbing verdict was announced on Monday (13th May) by Justice AM Zulfikar Hayat of the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal under the Digital Security Act (DSA). He also sentenced Tithy Sarkar to 1 year of probation on eight conditions.
Tithy Sarkar was directed to appear before law enforcement authorities when summoned by them during her probation period.
According to Bench Assistant Jewel Miha, a probation officer would monitor the activities of the Hindu woman. The verdict against her may be re-considered if the said probation officer gave a satisfactory report.
The victim had been languishing in jail for the past 21 months. A total of 6 witnesses testified against her in court.
A former student of Jagannath University, Tithy Sarkar was booked by the police on 2nd November 2020. She was also the convenor of World Hindu Struggle Council and office secretary of the Students Protection Council of Jagannath University.
Tithy Sarkar filed police complaint, told police that her Facebook account was hacked
OpIndia reported in 2020 that the Hindu woman had gone missing after being accused of ‘hurting religious sentiments.’ Islamists had alleged that Sarkar made derogatory remarks against Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.
Tithy Sarkar met the officials at the Pallabi police station and filed a complaint about her Facebook account being hacked. She had made it clear to the police that the alleged ‘blasphemous comments were’ made by an unidentified hacker using her Facebook handle.
The development was confirmed by Kazi Wazed Ali, the station-in-charge of the Pallabi police station. After filing the police complaint, the Hindu woman went missing and her phone remained untraceable.
“We do not blame anyone behind my sister’s missing. We are requesting the government and the authorities concerned for my sister’s safe return,” her sister Smriti had stated at that time….

Just wondering what she has that the mozlum ghouls want. Did she turn down one of the lusting males, upset one of the jealous females or has she something else they want?
And in another place, not yet totally islamically ruined,
“Blasphemy protections after RE teacher in hiding over Muhammad cartoon”
“This comes after a series of mishandled blasphemy incidents in British schools, including an RE teacher who was forced into hiding and faced death threats after showing pupils a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed.
The unnamed teacher was ‘let down’ by Batley Grammar School in West Yorkshire and police after being suspended as head of religious studies at in March, a review found in March this year.
But the new guidance would say schools should not automatically suspend teachers over blasphemy claims and would prevent schools from publicly identifying teachers involved.”

Good questions, Somehistory. I’m sure this is “retaliation” for turning down a Muslim.

Blimey,FIVE years in prison form criticising Islam and insulting Muhammad, I wonder what she said , note , we ARE NOT TOLD. Poor woman already been n prison for almost 2 years. Six people testified in court against her, what a sick society.

An evil society where people enjoy seeing others suffer.
She’s a pretty young woman. My guess is, she turned down the lusty advances of a slug or two, so they and their jealous female friends decided to get even.

She was lucky that she had a Hindu boyfriend, who protected her when she was initially being hunted by the police, & who eloped w/ her during that time. However, it was since then that her life became hell
One more ?? country that we probably have diversity visas for

I, too, was jailed for 3 years for “insulting ☪️ Islam and Muslims ☪️” in Egyptstan as was hundreds of thousands of Egyptian non-Koranimals under El-Sissy’s misrule of Egyptstan.
Please, write to your Congress representatives imploring them to pressure El-Sissy to step down and hold democratic elections under international supervision for Egyptians’ right to self-determination!

I’m sorry you were imprisoned for what you had to say about islam. I don’t think it’s actually possible to insult it, as it is pure demon evil.
However, right now the government of the U.S. is not going to do anything worthwhile regarding such things as misrule by mozlum tyrants.

Ramez Fekry, so sorry this happened to you. The problem in Egypt is that the Msulism Brotherhood is even worse than is Al Sisi.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Mr Fekry, like the others above, I sympathize w/ you. However, problem w/ democracy in any muslim country – as both Afghanistan and Iraq showed – is that you’ll replace a bad regime w/ something worse – like the Taiban v2 or in Iraq, a shi’a quasi-theocracy. A majority of Egyptian muslims are not for a secular establishment, where Copts have equal rights under the law
Best thing you can do, if you haven’t already, is leave Egypt for some Western country. Unfortunately, as the Salwan Momika incident showed, there are few western countries willing to uphold a genuine freedom of expression, so you’re better off not saying anything about either Muhammad nor islam, at least not under your real identity

The US should remove all recognition of any Muslim nation that has these so called blasphemy laws. They are the essence of anti-free speech and are used to jail and suppress all non-Muslim people in Muslim countries. End all economic and financial support to any such nation which has these laws. Sending aid is saying the US is in favor of these so called blasphemy laws. We need to take sides. If the US believes that our Constitution is the best and that all people should live under rules such as our Bill of Rights then we cannot support regimes or even what appear to be democracies that suppress ethnic or racial groups that do not reflect the religious ideas of the majority. If Freedom of Speech is such a basic idea of Americans then we should not support totalitarian regimes that stomp on the idea of Freedom of Speech. Let’s see Bangladesh get alone without us.

I would feel insulted if someone made offensive remarks about (say) Jesus.
HOWEVER
I believe God is omnipotent. It is for Him to judge, prosecute and punish such transgressors.
Clearly, the Islamic deity can not judge, prosecute and punish (so called) blasphemers; therefore he/she/it must be helpless, weak and powerless.
somehistory says
The God of the Bible, the Father of Jesus says, ‘Vengeance is mine. I will repay.” and that includes what He wants done regarding insults to Him or His Son.
Since the ‘god’ of islam is a false god and is prevented from doing everything he would want to do, he inspires those who worship him to do the killing for supposedly ‘blaspheming’ him;; which isn’t possible as he is undeserving of any respect or worship.

This story was actually reported on JihadWatch 4 years ago when it happened, and Tithi/Tithy Sarkar had disappeared, w/ some fearing that she had been abducted & converted to islam. However, what happened was that her boyfriend helped her abscond, and then they eloped, and later she was arrested
By now it’s already been 4 years. Does her 5 year sentence include time already served, which she’s never gonna get back? Or does it start from now?
