There has been a sudden increase – since mid-October – in antisemitic harassment in the Netherlands: “‘We Have Had Enough’: Dutch Jews Demand Action Against Rising Antisemitic Harassment,” by Ben Cohen, Algemeiner, March 28, 2024:
Hertzberger’s comments coincided with widespread coverage in the Dutch press of a Jewish woman in the Amsterdam suburb of Amstelveen who was intimidated and threatened outside her own home on Wednesday by Hamas supporters. She has also been targeted with a series of obscenely-worded leaflets in her neighborhood highlighting the fact that her daughter is a soldier in the IDF.
“Neighborhood residents pay attention! A child murderer lives nearby! This genocidal maniac has recently returned from her murderous activities and will be tried soon. As local residents, you have the right to know that such an individual can get close to your children,” one leaflet declared. It also specified the names of both the woman and her daughter, her address, and her place of work, claiming: “She sent her pussy daughter to Israel to kill babies. She is also an accomplice!”
What is this harassment, what are these threats, what are these leaflets denouncing a woman because her daughter serves in the IDF, if not the purest form of antisemitism? All that is lacking is the scrawling of swastikas on the woman’s home, and the word “Jude” painted on her front door, to take us back to Kristallnacht. And let’s not forget that the daughter is being called a “baby-killer” — reminding us of the accusation flung at Jews in the Middle Ages, that they killed Christian children — little St. William of Norwich, little St. Hugh of Lincoln — and used their blood to make matzos.
However, Dutch police remain unwilling to classify the woman’s ordeal as an antisemitic incident. “Only when we know the whole story will we see what exactly we are dealing with,” a spokesperson for the Amsterdam police told the broadcaster RTL on Thursday.
Really? What more of that story do you need to know? A Jewish woman who has done nothing wrong is being unbearably harassed, afraid to step outside her home where demonstrators are chanting against her. She is denounced on leaflets spread around her neighborhood as a “child-killer” and a “genocidal maniac” and her neighbors advised to keep their children away from her. And her daughter, now in the IDF, is an “accomplice” to these crimes and will be given her due once she returns to her mother’s house in Amsterdam. With a potentially violent mob just outside, the mother, and then her daughter too upon her return from Israel, will be condemned to stay inside.
Meanwhile, last weekend, Hamas supporters wrecked a concert in the city of Waalwijk by a popular Dutch singer, Lenny Kuhr. Now aged 74, Kuhr converted to Judaism in the 1970s when she married an Israeli man, and has children and grandchildren living in Israel, one of whom reportedly serves in the IDF. As Kuhr was performing last Saturday, a group of pro-Hamas thugs stormed the stage, screaming epithets including “terrorist” and “murderer” at the veteran singer.
And the screaming pro-Hamas crowd that got up on the stage calling Lenny Kuhr a “terrorist” and “murderer” stopped the concert in midstream. Was anyone arrested for this successful attempt at shutting down a Jewish singer? No, not a one.
Subsequently, Palestine Action NL — an antisemitic, pro-Hamas campaign group — threatened to carry out similar actions at other concerts given by Kuhr during her current concert tour. In response, Dutch Justice Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz condemned the attack on Kuhr as antisemitic. “This has nothing to do with being pro-Palestine,” she said. “It is anti-Jew. Let us name and treat this for what it is.”…
The Dutch Justice Minister, Dilan Yeşilgöz, who is Turkish by origin, sounds as if she is fully secularized, a “Muslim-for-identification-purposes-only” Muslim,” and correctly described the attempt to shut down Kuhr’s concerts as “antisemitic.” She may possibly decide to provide a a large police presence at Kuhr’s future concerts, to make sure anyone trying to disrupt them will. be immediately carted away, perhaps to prison, where he — or she — can yell those antisemitic protests to the four walls of their cell.
There are a few things the Dutch state can do. First, it can pass legislation that will allow the government to round up all non-citizens taking part in antisemitic demonstrations and to quickly deport them. That should dampen enthusiasm for these screamfests. Second, it should be prepared to assign larger security details both to individual Jews, and to Jewish institutions such as temples and schools that have been threatened, like that Jewish lady in Amsterdam who is being harassed and physically threatened because her daughter is now serving in the IDF. Again, any antisemitic demonstrators should be rounded up, charged with the “crime of threatening with antisemitic intent,” and if found guilty, should be given both prison sentences — at least a year or two of incarceration — and heavy fines. Again, those non-citizens who are convicted should, after their release, be deported back to their countries of origin.
That should cut down on the threats made to individual Jews and the calls for destruction of the Jewish state. And if those laws do not have the desired effect? Then the government must increase the security details assigned to protect Jews, and also should double the dose of fines and prison time. And then, if necessary, again. There will come a time when the increased punishment proves to be a sufficient deterrent, and antisemites in the Netherlands will finally be silenced. The non-citizens among them, overwhelmingly Muslim, will not just be silenced; they will have been deported. Such a result is not too much for Dutch Jews to ask.

There are two ways to address an immediate need when you have an overflowing sink.
One is the get out a bunch of rags and sponges and begin mopping up the floor. Not ideal as the water continues to spill onto the floor and you have the further problem of getting rid of the mopped-up dirty water.
The other is to turn off the spigot, either there at the sink or at the main shut-ff valve.

I object to hate crime legislation or making heinous attacks on specified classes of people special types of crimes. There are plenty of provisions in the English Common Law tradition to come down hard on the assailants and harrassers of this Jewish woman in Amsterdam; and I am sure that Roman-Dutch law has similar provisions.
Arrest the thugs for vandalism, assault, possibly attempted murder, and other usual crimes. These are hateful enough. As for “hate crime” canons, Uncle Kepha does not know, to save his soul, what a “love crime” or “simple respect crime” looks like.
Or, on second thought, start using “hate crime” charges on clients of the Left who threaten traditional people as “fascist insects” or suchlike. Then we’ll see the media-legal-academic complex start squawking like frightened chickens, and accept that traditional provisions of law can be used effectively enough against the assailants in the case mentioned in the OP.

I think we agree that “hate crime” legislation violates the requirements of Equal Protection in the US Constitution, which applies sometimes in the US. I have never seen or heard of a “LOVE” crime. All crimes involve some measure of hate. I look forward to defendants appealing hate crime enhancements upon their conviction.

We need to be as intolerant towards Islam as they are of the Jews and Israel, because like you said, we’re next in line once they’ve taken their land (not that it’ll happen).
We’re dealing with barbarians…there is a false assumption we make and it happens on the world stage too, that the Muslims just want concessions…some land, or money to mollify their grievances (and then they’ll shut up).
But if you already know what your enemy’s real goals are, then you won’t fall for this shoddy ploy. Their goal is nothing short of the elimination of the Jews (or their dhimmification) and the theft of their terroritory.
I’ve seen so many debates now on shows like Piers Morgan and others, the pattern is always the same. The pro-Palis always whine about ‘open-air prison’, ‘occupation’, concentration camps…ofc every single word is a g-damn lie, but they say it with conviction and anger. Meanwhile all they’re really doing is following their religion’s dictates to fight/kill the Jews and then eventually they’ll do the same to us.
We need strong leaders like Geert Wilders (in every free nation) that will tell Muslims to STFU, pack your bags and get out of our countries.

We, along with the other wide awake people here at Jihad Watch, are not fooled by the Muslim enemy, but there are still far too many braindead idiots who still don’t get it about islam and its goals. It is either that too many non-Muslims don’t get it or they are already too scared of the thuggish Muslims. In Australia, it almost seems that the authoriities and many people are just too afraid to take on the Muslims, with these demos over gaza, etc, because they are scared of the thuggish Muslims. As I said, in my opinion, letting Muslims into our countries is, without a doubt, the dumbest move ever. The Muslims, as called for in the Koran, hate, with a murderous hate, all non-Muslims, so it is insane to let them into our countries and to pretend that it is all going to be just fine. There is nothing difficult about it. Here’s what to do: close the f*****g borders and kick out all the f*****g scum.
And for the judiciary: there is a legal way out of all those treaties and conventions. It’s called the ‘rebus sic stantibus’ argument, meaning: ‘the way things are right now, we can not be held to our obligations under this, or that treaty/convention’, for example to our obligation to honour the right to family life, which is based on article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
I do not understand why the State’s attorneys do not use that argument. It’s perfectly legit to do so, both from a legal / theoretical point of view and from a circumstantial point of view, now all of the West is being overrun by masses of people.
This is because, by honouring the human rights of this massive amount of people, the authorities are trampling on the human rights of the indigenous people. How can it be, for example, that some antisemite from a mohamedan country immediately is awarded a home, while young native people have to wait for longer than 10 years to get one? This is absolutely scandalous, not to mention the Miele laundry machine the antisemites get to boot. ‘Follow the money’ should look into how much the hotels, Miele, the bussing companies and all the others make on this. But of course they will not, because they are too communist to do so.
And another matter altogether: why is it that constantly the idea crops up that – hey, are these people on the take? Why do they start by saying something is impossible? Nothing is impossible. Everything that has been made can be unmade. Are these people getting paid? By mohamedans, for instance? Just like the American universities? At first the thought strikes one as odd, but hey, the arabs bought the US academe, so why not others? Look at the bribery that has been discovered in Brussels? If these people can be bought, then what about the others?

We won’t understand this without acknowledging why these protesters (or whatever is the least provoking term for them) feel so justified in their hate-mongering.
They are convinced that Israel is nothing but a white, Western, colonizing, land stealing, criminal entity, which was built on the denial of the inherent right of the people native to Palestine to become a nation in their own region, thieved their land from them, and uses violence against them whenever they attempt to recover those rights.
That is potent stuff in young minds. Backed up by a lethal dose of ignorance about how Israel really came to exist, it leads straight to absolute, unexcepted, hard bitten conviction that everything Israel does is a crime, and everything Palestinians do is justified. I am Canadian and I have heard defence of the vicious massacre on October 7th as a “military operation” from young people of university age that was enough to make a responsible person despair that our future is in the worst imaginable hands.
We can make the attempt to show that our societies in the developed world require observance of the standards of decency and justice that recognize the Jewish state as a member of the world community, or we can fail at that. I fear that if we fail now we fail forever. Every news story about our failure is another invitation to a funeral.
