Tucker Carlson highlights alleged mistreatment of Christians in Israel, ignores rising Christian population

In many Muslim countries of the Middle East, the Christian population has been decimated. In Israel, it is rising. Yet Tucker Carlson decides to hit Israel, not any of the Muslim lands where Christians are being persecuted. He is reflecting the noxious spirit of the age.

“Israel’s Christian population is growing, says Central Bureau of Statistics,” by Maayan Jaffe-Hoffman, Jerusalem Post, December 23, 2023:

As Israeli Christians belonging to Western church denominations prepare to celebrate Christmas on Sunday night and Monday, the Central Bureau of Statistics has released data on the country’s Christian community.

According to the CBS, around 187,900 Christians live in Israel, composing 1.9% of the population. This represents 1.3% growth from the year before.

The Christian population has been on the rise for at least the last two years. In 2021, the population grew by 1.4% to 182,000, and in 2022, there was about 2% growth to 185,000, according to the CBS.

Three-quarters (75.3%) are Arab Christians who make up 6.9% of the total Arab population.

This contrasts with most countries in the Middle East, where Christian populations are declining, and there is “horrifying growth” of Christian persecution. This is according to the organization Open Doors, which puts out an annual “World Watch List” of where Christians suffer very high or extreme levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith….

  1. Thank you for putting out reality on this issue Mr Spencer. I follow Carlson and agree with him in most discussions but I was shocked at how one-sided and propaganda-like this “interview” with the church pastor was.

    • Yeah, he’s normally good on so many topics – Russia/Ukraine, China, Covid-19, decay of American cities, the gender chaos, White-genocide in South Africa,….. It’s shocking to see him give voice to anti-Semites on the Right

    Friend said this morning of him reference the Putin interview
    – There was a moment where I could see a word balloon over his head at the start of the interview saying: “I am in way over my head”

  4. If Carlson really has any moral courage, he would interview Raymond Ibrahim next. And he should ask him about how Christians are treated in Islamic countries.

    He won’t do that though.

    The question is: Why not?

    • Has anyone suggested that to him? Has he even heard of Raymond Ibrahim? (or even our esteemed host, who is much more visible?)

      I suspect Tucker’s guests don’t always get a thorough vetting, and I wonder if he got blindsided.

  6. In Tucker’s defense, being a Christian in Israel isn’t the easiest place to be. True, Muslim countries treat Christians horribly, and Tucker knows this. Christians in Israel are ostracized though tolerated . This is my take and experience and some will disagree.

    • Biggest complaints I’ve heard while living there is bringing family over from neighbouring countries, as they don’t benefit from right of return as us red sea pedestrians do.
      There are some issues over not being allowed civil marriage, but generally they have equal rights and protections as any other citizen, ironically this comes now, as they have been showing a lot more patriotism since oct7 and the young ones signing up for the IDF which they can opt out of.

      • Yes–and that this is being done *now*, when Israel is under attack from Hamas, Hizb’allah, and likely Iran as well is deeply disturbing.

    • Yes, I listened to the halfway point and wanted to hear a discussion about the horrors of being a Christian in certain areas of Africa and was disappointed.

    • True–in fact, Christians are in peril in every Muslim country, and are facing out and out genocide in much of Africa like Nigeria.

    He’s no journalist…just a big mouth.

    • No, except this issue of Israel, he’s largely been on target on most topics: Russia/Ukraine, China, Covid-19, decay of American cities, the gender chaos, White-genocide in South Africa,….. Which is what makes his observations on Israel so infuriating

      • Might as well get your news from some big mouth know-it-all at the nearest coffee shop or bar. Sometimes they’re spot on but they lie enough for one to doubt everything they say.
        TC has no, zero, zilch credibility — just a big mouth.

        • We already get that from the lamestream news media. Dunno about the CBC, but in the states, we get it from MSNBC/NBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, et al. The likes of Joe Scarborough, Sunny Hostin, Whoopi Goldberg & so on. Tucker Carlson is nowhere near any of them

      • Infidel–with respect–I don’t think that watching Carlson suck up to Putin brutally invading unthreatening neighbor Ukraine was anything but appalling, either.

  9. Yeah, I’m totally split on him. On Russia, he happens to be absolutely on target, visits the country & shows what life is like there. Somehow, he doesn’t want to do the same for Israel. In another interview w/ MTG, he raised the issue of Israelis targeting churches in Gaza, forgetting the fact that Gaza is a Muslim Brotherhood a.k.a. Hamas theocracy

    I agree w/ some who’ve observed that he seems to be cut out of the same cloth as CNN’s former Right-wing panelists – Bob Novak, John Sununu and Pat Buchanan. I have stopped following him, since what he believes about Israel is pure propaganda

  10. Tucker Carlson interviewed Andrew Tate who was accused of raping and human trafficking. I do not watch the interview, because I think I will be disgusted with what Andrew Tate says. But I begin to lose trust to Carlson. I watch some of his videos, seems like he has lost the focus and will say anything for making the videos.

    • Yeah, that was the first warning sign that not everything he says should be taken w/o a pinch of salt

    • Tucker is wrong and that’s ok, no one is correct 100# of the time but the pastor deserves to be heard..

      • The pastor in question also celebrated the October 7 massacre, saying: “the strength of the Palestinian man defied his siege”, as 1,200 Israeli civilians were massacred and hundreds kidnapped: see the above tweet from Dr Eli David. It’s one thing to claim that Jews are not on their best behavior while dealing w/ Christians, but another thing to ding Jews for the treatment of Christians, while saying nothing about the persecution of Christians in “Palestine”, Egypt & other Arab countries

        I think he went to the Emirates, saw how tolerant they are of Christians, Jews & Hindus, & concluded that it’s true about all Arab countries. Nothing else would explain his seeming assumption that Christians have it a lot better in Arab countries than in Israel. Had that really been the case, Christians would have made a beeline out of Israel to all these countries – Egypt, Jordan, Emirates, Iraq, Syria, et al: there’s much more real estate there than in Israel

  12. I didn’t listen to the interview. The last one I heard from Carlson was with the government guy from Hungary. and that was a good one.

    Anyone can be wrong, and every person is sometimes.

    “Do not put your trust in nobles or the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.”

    Christians are the most persecuted of any group on earth. Some places are safer for Christians than others. Any nation ruined over by mozlums, is going to be worse than a Christian may experience in Israel.
    Jews may not like Christians, any more than **some** Christians like the Jews; but Jews are not slaughtering Christians as mozlums are doing.

    Honesty, coupled with knowledge, served up without ‘fear of man, which lays a trap,” is the best way to go. Perhaps Carlson lacks knowledge, or perhaps he has a “fear of what man may do” to him.

    You are very intelligent, and very well read.

    But you have a knowledge gap in regards to islam.

    Recommendations – for starters:

    1. Read “Islam 101” on this website.

    2. Read all the feature articles / comments on this website going back at least 12 months.

    Then, you will at least start to understand islam.

      Interestingly, the most captive Tucker segments on Fox that I used to watch was when he was w/ Mark Steyn. He shares Mark Steyn’s alarm at the immigration waves in Europe and used to be critical of that while on Fox, so it’s not like he’s clueless about muslims at least

      I think the problem w/ him now started ever since he started engaging w/ Andrew Tate. There has been a strong anti-Feminist backlash, and some of the leaders in this movement have embraced wholesale misogyny. Like Tucker, Tommy Robinson too was/is a supporter of Tate, although the latter certainly stopped at islam. But my read on Tucker (and Candace Owens) is that in the process of embracing Tate, they’ve also ended up endorsing his anti-Semitism. Which is a shame, b’cos one can condemn Leftist Jews – of which there are countless – w/o endorsing an opposition to Israel, which does not influence foreign Jews to be either Left or Right

    Just grotesque. In fact, Israel is the *only* nation in the Middle East that *doesn’t* discriminate against Chrstians and other religious minorities.

    There are a few Israeli Jews who disapprove of Christianity, and this is unfortunate–but there is no violence against Christians, and no state oppression in Israel.

    It is the “Palestinian territories” and surrounding Muslim countries where Christians are persecuted, often violently. Christian population in the “West Bank” has nosedived–this, in a region that was majority-Christian for milennia. And there are only about 1,000 Christians surviving in Gaza–just .05% of the population. And we have seen genocide of Christians in surrounding Muslim nations, as well–including Lebanon and Iraq.

    To single out Israel in this sea of genocide against Christians is grotesque–and to do so while Israel is under genocidal attack from the same Muslims who are eradicating Christians is perverse in the extreme.
