Protesting against Israel in Turkey is a peculiar example of bringing coals to Newcastle. Erdogan has made it abundantly clear that he hates Israel. Apparently Procter & Gamble was chosen because it’s an American corporation. In any case, it’s unusual, and unusually decent, for CBS News to note that the number of people killed in Gaza comes from Hamas. Most media outlets repeat it without question as if it were established fact recognized by all.

A hostage situation at an American factory in northwest Turkey has been resolved, and all personnel are safe, officials said late Thursday.Two gunmen took seven hostages at a factory owned by Procter & Gamble in Gebze, according to media reports, apparently in protest of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
“The assailant was apprehended by law enforcement authorities and personnel who were being held were safely evacuated,” a P&G spokesperson said to CBS News. “The fact that no one was harmed is our greatest relief. We are grateful to the authorities and first responders who managed the situation with courage and professionalism.”
Turkish media published an image of one of the purported suspects inside the factory, a man wearing what appeared to be a rudimentary explosives belt and holding a handgun.
The photograph of the suspect carried in the Turkish media shows him with a black-and-white Arabic headscarf covering his face. He is standing next to a graffitied wall showing the Turkish and Palestinian flags with the slogan “The gates will open. Either musalla or death for Gaza.” A musalla is an open prayer area for Muslims, usually used for funeral rites.
Local officials said police staged a raid nearly nine hours into the standoff when a gunman took a bathroom break, AFP reported.
The man was detained unharmed, local governor Seddar Yavuz told reporters, according to AFP.
Private news agency DHA said the suspects entered the main building of the facility in Gebze in the province of Kocaeli, at around 3 p.m. local time and took seven members of the staff hostage.
It claimed the suspects’ actions were to highlight the loss of life in the Palestinian enclave. Some 27,000 have been killed in Israel’s military operation since Oct. 7, according to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry….
Public feeling against Israel and its main ally the U.S. has risen in Turkey since the conflict began, with regular protests in support of the Palestinian people in major cities and calls for an immediate cease-fire.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been particularly outspoken, referring to Israeli “war crimes” and comparing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler….

Why didn’t p&g stay in the States?
At least, the report didn’t seem to take the side of the terrorists…including the thug of turkiye (or whatever)…when they/he spoke of war crimes and hitler.

I’ve been boycotting P&G ever since they invested a ton of $ and built that big plant in Turkey.
No more Dawn, Crest, Tide,etc.
I’m sure it doesn’t affect their bottom line,
but at least it makes me feel better.

As a Costco member, there are Kirkland alternatives to all of these, which I use (Okay, I use Sensodyne instead of Crest). I checked the Costco Connection magazine of 2023, which wrote about their global presence, & no, Turkey wasn’t in it
I’m like you: I check the “Made in” label for most things that I buy, and avoid the muslim countries. Occasionally, Indonesian ones make it thru. I do wish I could boycott China just as easily

Hint: it’s usually the name-brand on the shelf next to it.
P&G sells worldwide, and it’s not practical to ship product entirely from the U.S. However, I agree that it’s best to avoid Muslim-made anything, and to strive to keep our companies in the U.S.

If enough people avoided products made in mozlum nations, it might wake a few ceo’s up to the reality. Not sure how many people it would take to make p&g come home.

These corporations care only about profit. If you want to sell your products as American made in America you should produce them in America not all over the world, hire and invest in America.
