In the left’s mythology, there are white people and “people of color.” White people are bad; “people of color” are good. Racism is bad unless you’re mocking, stereotyping, and discriminating against white people, which is simply redress for centuries of white supremacy. White people are always oppressors in every case, and “people of color” are always noble victims. One of the hosts of the cringefest known as “The View,” however, got a rude awakening Tuesday, in the form of a reminder that reality is not really that simple.
Fox News reported Thursday that Sunny Hostin, one of the far-left harridans who host “The View,” was “shocked to discover her family’s hidden history in a new episode of the PBS documentary show ‘Finding Your Roots.’” The bleached white skeleton in her familial closet is the apparent fact that “one of Hostin’s ancestors on her maternal side was likely involved in the slave trade in colonial Spain.”
Historian and Obama pal Henry Louis Gates noted gravely that Hostin’s “third great-grandfather also ‘owned at least one human being.’” All this time Hostin, whose mother is Puerto Rican and father is black, thought she was on the right side of the great divide between the righteous and the unrighteous, that is, the divide between whites and “people of color,” and so she admitted that discovering this was a massive jolt.
“Wow, I’m a little bit in shock,” Hostin said. “I just always thought of myself as half Puerto Rican. I didn’t think my family was originally from Spain and slaveholders.” It was a comfort to Hostin, amid the crisis that ensued after she discovered that there was sin in her familial line, that her husband Manny also has familial roots in Spain.
Hostin, trying gamely to adjust to her new status as a white oppressor, made the best of an impossible situation by focusing on her nuclear family: “I think it’s actually pretty interesting that my husband and I have shared roots, so I do appreciate that, and I think it’s great for our children to know this information. I guess it’s a fact of life that this is how some people made their living, on the backs of others.”
Yeah. It is. Gates, trying to help Hostin adjust, observed wryly that her white ancestry had to have “come from somewhere,” and then asked her light-heartedly “what she had against Spain.” Hostin responded with all the jocularity of someone who had just discovered she had leprosy: “Just the colonization of other people. I’m surprised that they were enslavers, actually. That’s disappointing.” She assured the world that her mother “certainly identifies as Puerto Rican and non-white, actually,” but then added with a hollow laugh: “So I hate this for her.”

I don’t know where he is to ask him about it, but his daughter Kamala is residing at the Naval Observatory in DC. Maybe she has his contact information so we can ask about his ponying up some reparations.

There was a hilarious anecdote amongst the comments on a You Tube channel about DNA testing:
The commenter had met a Brazilian who declared that he “would never visit Portugal because they’re a bunch of colonisers!”.
It was pointed out to him that (A) the people now living in Portugal had obviously NOT emigrated to Brazil and therefore hadn’t colonised anybody, and (B) since the aggrieved Brazilian had both a white appearance plus a Portuguese surname – it was obviously HE who was the coloniser…

She is several shades of brown. She does have white teeth, I will give her that. The real people of color are white people. Blond hair, brown hair, black hair, red hair, a combination of two or more. Blue eyes, green eyes, brown eyes, hazel eyes, amber eyes, gray eyes. I wont get in to the skin color range of whites, it is too complicated.

I have often seen Black women trying to use chemicals in order to have blond or red hair…which is just not natural.
And at the same time, racists hate us for what we have….blond, red (red is the rarest color) hair, and not because we all had some part in slavery….which most of us never had.
Hatred comes from a misunderstanding or jealousy. It is my belief that it is most often jealousy.

I dont need chemicals in a bottle to appropriate white peoples hair colors and you probably dont either. My mom had brown hair brown eyes. My dad had blond hair blue eyes. I got blond/brown hair with hazel eyes as a result. And the sun will alter my hair color while people have told me my eyes change color depending on my mood. When I am happy they are lighter, when I am mad they go darker.

My hair began as very blond and then changed to copper with a few blond strands scattered about. it’s the Scot-Irish color. Blue/green eyes and pale skin. No freckles.
Both of my parents had dark brown, nearly black hair; father brown eyes, mom blue. Both had more of an olive skin.
But I have other physical traits that were like theirs.
I believe each person should just recognize that however they are, is how they are. People should learn to be happy in their own skin; if their parents didn’t teach them that, they can learn later in life.
Guess you never needed one of those *mood rings* which were popular at one time.

No, never needed a mood ring and never went in for a pet rock either, thankfully. My younger brothers were different than me. One blue eyed brown hair the other green eyed blond hair. They both had lighter skin than me. I got my moms olive skin they got my dads lighter skin. The three of them always sun burned easily while I and my mom dont.

The current population of this country is not responsible for any former population’s actions. But those who talk “white privilege,” want the current population to pony-up in the form of “reparations” to all of the poc who claim they deserve it for their skin color.

If you have a DNA test and it shows you have South African in your DNA are you eligible for reparation payments, just asking. I think slavery started way before America became a country, so shouldn’t the rest of the world pay us for the continued harm their actions have caused and continue’s to cause today.
