“The Washington Post continues to repeat Hamas propaganda,” by Michael Berenhaus, JNS, January 4, 2024:
In a Dec. 29, 2023 article titled “Two investigations put renewed scrutiny on Israel’s Gaza offensive,” The Washington Post yet again quoted the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry as if its statements were fact, not even noting that it is controlled by a terrorist organization with a vested interested in promoting incendiary propaganda. Instead, the Post simply states, “Israel’s aggressive response to the attacks—a mission to eradicate Hamas—has killed 21,507 and injured 55,915 people in the enclave, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.”
What does the failure to acknowledge that the Gaza Health Ministry is essentially a weapon in Hamas’s media war say about the Post’s credibility?
Israel is claiming that about half of those deaths were combatants, which would mean the ratio of civilians to combatants killed is 1:1. If true, this would make the IDF’s operations in Gaza the most humane in the history of urban warfare. Of course, all civilian deaths are horrific, but every one of them is Hamas’s responsibility.
As far as the Post’s charge that Israel’s response to the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre is “aggressive,” it should be noted that Hamas is still firing rockets at Israeli civilians. This indicates that Israel isn’t being aggressive enough. Instead, Israel is holding back to assuage its allies, which only prolongs the war.
Enemies of Israel shriek that Hamas needs an Iron Dome to protect its people. But Hamas already has an “Iron Dome”: The civilians it cynically uses as human shields. Israel has called off numerous attacks to avoid harming these civilians. Israel has also created civilian corridors for those leaving the combat zone, while knowing full well that Hamas terrorists will exploit them in order to escape Israel’s military operations. Israel gets no credit from the Post for this or anything else, while the Post continues to aid and abet Hamas in its campaign to garner international sympathy. The Post does not even bother to ask why Hamas has refused to allow civilians to use its tunnel system to protect themselves.
Nor does the Post ask why Egypt won’t take in Gazan civilians, even temporarily. The Sinai has plenty of room for them. The Post fails to note that Egypt could have saved countless lives but chose not to. Nor does the Post note that removing Hamas’s human shields from harm’s way would help Israel reduce civilian casualties by winning the war more quickly.
Most importantly, the Post makes no mention of the fact that Hamas’s tunnel system is ruinously expensive and has been financed by stolen aid funds. Imagine if Hamas had used those funds to build a beautiful seaside enclave akin to Singapore instead.

If the population of Gaza were against Hamas, it would be easier for Israel to destroy the Hamas occupation. The civilians would provide intelligence to the IDF. YOu never hear of them doing that, not even a little collaboration with the Israelis would help end the war. Why the MSM is so on the side of totalitarian barbarians, as though they were the only hope for mankind, instead of a threat.

Yes, Mr Spencer has stated the facts time and time again – the situation could not be clearer. I’m sure Washington Post is aware of the real situation – hence their thinly disguised support for the ‘Pro- Pal’ ‘movement’ suggests there is a hidden agenda at play – and they’ll stick to their obscure intent even though it defies reason. Do they themselves somehow hold some unjustified enmity towards the Jewish, I wonder – disturbing and quite eerie.
In any case, as has been cited many times, Hamas attacked Israel fully knowing Israeli’ retaliation would most likely kill thousands of Palestinians. As such they are not a part of the ‘Palestinian Cause’. They simply used the deaths to sway worldly condemnation against Israel, in the grip of a completely irrational hate- based ideology and vow to annihilate Jewish people. How can ‘Pro-Pal’ indoctrinates support Hamas when Hamas in effect kill Palestinians? Have people forgotten this prime point, which is complete and final, beyond dispute? This is the irony of the ‘Hamas Paradox’ – Hamas is seen as saving Palestinians, when actually they wipe them out. It is disturbing that though some may see some truth in this, they will continue on their plight, for as has been alluded to earlier, ‘self-instilled beliefs and emotions are generally greater determiners of behaviour than reason’. It is admirable how Mr Spencer maintains his composure when addressing the individuals behind the ‘Pro-Pal’ push.
It does seem that our minds at times accord with reason yet at other times are seemingly irrational, ‘going down their own path stubbornly bent on ill-intent.’ And it seems the more the real situation is spelled out, the more aggressive ‘Pro-Pal’ indoctrinates become -and then those seeking self-aggrandisement / righteousness and indulgence come out to join up with this sickening grand parade of swayers that will only end in suffering. And of course, the other issue is that, rather frightening, Palestinian welfare may not even be the concern in their lives that motivates them in the first place.
This is all rather insidious and frightening – the emergence of this mass phenomena / curse thing against a group of people (Jewish) just humbly, harmlessly standing on the sidelines minding their own business.
Why was not all this happening a few years ago, I wonder, if it is such a do or die issue, I wonder. Where were all the voices then. Just passive armchair protestors, I guess. It seems Hamas were not happy about Palestinian reasonable contentment. It just didn’t fit well with their death vows. So they triggered things.
It seems that, ordinarily, usually sane people are generating hate to achieve a goal (‘Free Palestine’) that is just a myth, a fantasy – and this fantasy I guess can only be abated irrationally when Israelis are killed.
Sorry for deviating but, to state the obvious, I would like to say Jewish people are part and parcel of life – they can’t be cut out from the rest of us like slicing up a piece of cake – they are not independent devious entities in and of themselves, running around outside of life’s reach. Moreover, it is indeed conceivable that Muhammad himself ultimately had some Jewish ancestry – Hamas’ worst nightmare!
