An update on this story. “Islamic State claims responsibility for deadly shooting at Istanbul church,” by Robert Badendieck, Associated Press, January 29, 2024:
ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) — The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for an attack on a Roman Catholic church in Istanbul during a Sunday Mass that killed one person, in a statement issued late Sunday.
The extremist group said that it “attacked a gathering of Christian unbelievers during their polytheistic ceremony” inside the Santa Maria Church in the Buyukdere neighborhood in Istanbul on Sunday.
Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said shortly before midnight that two men he described as members of the Islamic State extremist movement had been arrested for the attack. One of the suspects is from Tajikistan, and the other from Russia.
The statement claiming responsibility was published on Aamaq, the media arm of the militant group, along with photos of two masked men holding guns whom it identified as the attackers.
It described the attack as killing one person and wounding another, while Turkish authorities said no one was injured besides the person killed.
Yerlikaya said police had raided 30 locations and detained a total of 47 people as part of the investigation into the attack….

Some years back (I cannot recall the specific year), there was an Islamist bombing of a synagogue in Turkey, which killed and injured a number of Turkish Jews. The terrorist group (I think it may have been Al-Qaeda) said that it had targeted a “Masonic Temple” or something along those lines.
Logic and intelligence has never been a strong point amongst Islamist, knuckle-dragging savages.

Mr Pope can you please remind your Muslim friends that their Allah’s messenger Mr Muhammad swore on the veracity of the Bible. Nothing has been changed since then and it does not promote polytheism at all as opposed to Islam, which has Allah, the best of creators (incl. Isa, who as a child made birds of clay and made them fly), some.ladies of Allah’s kind, the eternal Qur’an with abrogations and all, and the witnessing black stone in the Kaba in Mecca!
And Mr Pope please remind your Muslim friends that there is no compulsion in religion, because we like to hear that instead of other verses like 8:12 and 47:4.
