There shouldn’t be a US outpost in Jordan.
Iran and its proxies are stepping up attacks, knowing that the Biden regime is weak, America-last, and appeasement-minded.
“First on CNN: Three US troops killed in drone attack in Jordan, more than 30 injured,” by Haley Britzky, Natasha Bertrand and Oren Liebermann, CNN, January 28, 2024:
Three US Army soldiers were killed and more than 30 service members were injured in a drone attack overnight on a small US outpost in Jordan, US officials told CNN, marking the first time US troops have been killed by enemy fire in the Middle East since the beginning of the Gaza war.
The killing of three Americans at Tower 22 in Jordan near the border with Syria is a significant escalation of an already-precarious situation in the Middle East. Officials said the drone was fired by Iran-backed militants and appeared to come from Syria. It is still being determined which militia group specifically is responsible.
US Central Command confirmed in a statement on Sunday that three service members were killed and 25 injured in a one-way drone attack that “impacted at a base in northeast Jordan.” Two US officials told CNN the drone hit in the vicinity of living quarters on base, and that three the injured service members were medically evacuated from the area.
The number of wounded is expected to rise.
President Joe Biden vowed on Sunday to hold those responsible for the attack “to account,” saying that while facts are still being gathered, “We know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”
“These service members embodied the very best of our nation: Unwavering in their bravery. Unflinching in their duty. Unbending in their commitment to our country — risking their own safety for the safety of their fellow Americans, and our allies and partners with whom we stand in the fight against terrorism. … [H]ave no doubt – we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”
As of Friday, there had been more than 158 attacks on US and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria, though officials have described the constant volley of drones, rockets, and missiles as unsuccessful as they have frequently not caused serious injury or damage to infrastructure….

I disagree with you Robert. There should be a US outpost in Jordan, but with means to protect themselves and with the might of the whole US military ready to annihilate anyone who would dare attack them. WhenQaddafi started acting up and bombing Pan Am flights, Regan put a missile through his bedroom window. Unfortunately he was not there and only his son was killed, but Qaddafi got the message. The same thing could be said about Operation Praying Mantis in the late 1980’s where Regan ordered a “proportional response” to the Iranians mining the shipping lanes in the Straight of Hormuz, and taking out a US frigate (with no loss of life). The Iranians lost two oil platforms many planes and half of their navy in the proportional response to this skirmish. We lost a helicoptr and the two on board, but it was due to stupidity, rather than enemy action.

Taffey,
Regarding the Marine Corps AH-1T Sea Cobra helicopter, inclusive, but there was some evidence the helicopter may have crashed while evading hostile fire.

No! We need to stop having military or diplomatic posts in countries that are increasingly hostile to us. Otherwise, we’re forced to overlook their misdeeds: two major examples being Turkey & Qatar. Thanks to Incirlik, we can’t do a thing to Turkey about it’s bullying Armenia or Greece, and thanks to al Udeid, we can’t do a thing about Qatar’s support to the muslim Brotherhood!
We should fix our relations w/ Russia, and plant our military bases in places like Israel, Cyprus, Armenia, Greece and Bulgaria. Stop pretending that countries like Jordan, which has become increasingly hostile to Israel, are our allies

The iranians should be taught a lesson by the rest of the world that it should know it’s place as a backward, moslem shithole in the desert. Get rid of the the old geezer mullahs running iran and all it’s terrorist proxies. Then the iranians can cry “I ran away “

Was there anyone who didn’t see this coming? More weakness. More appeasement. More complicity. Now comes the bloodshed in earnest.
It should be of no surprise, considering that many figures in the US political establisment are known to hold & enjoy documented murky conflicting relationships with the main sponsor of islamic jihadist terror today.
Who can forget the truck loads of cash Hussain Obama sent to Iran; or the enormous piles of money Biden recently released to Iran?
It is a disgrace. On one hand grandiloquently declaring a tough guy stance towards the islamic regine, yet on the other hand, all the while in actuality supporting Iran, as it marches ever closer to having that much desired nuclear weapon; which of course will be unleashed on Israel & the US aswell.
It is a devilish duplicity for which there can be no reasonable justification.
Before the 2020 election result, Trump had the Iranian leaders held firmly by their beards, having wiped ghastly General Solemeni off the face of the planet & restricted their nefarious behaviours. No sooner had Biden come to the Whitehouse, he freed Iran from all those restrictions & the justifiable fear Trump had placed them under! Again devilish duplicity for which there can be no justification.
These are clear acts of treason that continue to resonate horror, harm & danger to the US & the wider world.
Responsibilty for the recent deaths & injuries of the brave soldiers at Tower 22 lies firmly at the feet of Biden & his criminally incompetent administration. For that they can never be forgiven.

If you are going to send American troops into places like Jordan you should be prepared to protect them and take severe action against anyone who attacks them. Jordon is allowing this outpost or at least they are getting paid American dollars to allow it to be in their country.
