In addition to Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine and the extreme instability in the Middle East involving Israel’s war against Hamas (as well as the unpredictability of Hamas’ supporters), Iran has now bombed Pakistan, in an unprecedented attack involving both rockets and drones.
The bombing was aimed at a group of Sunni jihadists — Jaish al-Adl, known in Iran as Jaish al-Dhulm. Two children were killed and other children wounded. A diplomatic crises has now ensued, with Pakistan warning of “serious consequences.” The biggest question is how nuclear Pakistan may react in return. The Saudi rapprochement with Iran, brokered by China, may now also be affected. As stated by the Associated Press: “Iran has suspected that Sunni-majority Pakistan is hosting insurgents, possibly at the behest of its regional arch-rival Saudi Arabia.”
Just this week, the British Defense Secretary warned of the dawn of a “new era,” and stated that Britain needs to prepare for world war within five years. Grant Shapps pointed to today’s crises “across the world,” to conclude that a conflict “involving Russia, China, Iran and North Korea” is coming.
“Pakistan recalls ambassador to Iran over air strike that killed 2 people,” Associated Press, January 17, 2024:
ISLAMABAD (AP) – Pakistan recalled its ambassador to Tehran on Wednesday, a day after Iran conducted airstrikes inside Pakistan that it claimed targeted bases for a militant Sunni separatist group.
Islamabad denounced the attack as a “blatant violation” of its airspace and said it killed two children.
Tuesday’s airstrikes in Pakistan’s restive southwestern Baluchistan province imperiled diplomatic relations between the two neighbors, but both sides appeared wary of provoking the other. Iran and nuclear-armed Pakistan have long regarded each other with suspicion over militant attacks.
The attack raised the threat of violence spreading in a Middle East unsettled by Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Iran also staged airstrikes late Monday in Iraq and Syria over an Islamic State-claimed suicide bombing that killed over 90 people earlier this month. Iraq recalled its ambassador from Iran for consultations.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, announced that Islamabad was recalling its ambassador to Iran over the strikes.
“Last night’s unprovoked and blatant breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty by Iran is a violation of international law and the purposes….

Today’s news: In retaliation for Iran bombing Baluchi rebels in Pakistan, Pakistan has bombed Baluchi rebels in Iran. Bow Iran and Pakistan are even-Steven, and the Baluchis are down two.

On a side note, Max Brooks predicted this in his novel World War Z (a personal favorite).
While most readers (like me!) were expecting a nuclear kerfuffle between Pakistan and India, instead Brooks placed the kerfuffle between Pakistan and Iran.
The book is not so much about zombies, but about us and our socio-economic, political, cultural and psychological reactions to a global threat.
If you like zombies I highly recommend this book. If you like having a light shone on humanity I highly recommend this book.
P.s. The movie has little to do with the book, it is a wild romp worth watching for the thrill.

Irans mullahs have done little but to prove how stupid they really are.
Hmmm, what are we going to do today? Lets attack a nuke armed country that both hates us and has little to no self control because they are also peace loving mudslimes.
What could possibly go wrong?

Great news! Normally, I’d root against Iran, but this time, I’d just open a packet of popcorn ?

So let me understand these situations somewhat.
Since Old Joe has been sleeping in the Oval Office since 2016 the USA is now engaged in TWO Wars and getting close to being involved in others, whereas Donald J.Trump said loudly and clearly..
”We must get out of these endless Wars”..
And yet I see those of my generation, Baby Boomers, who all screamed Make Love Not War are now calling Trump THE most dangerous man in America and perhaps the whole World.
Neil Young, the Canadian prick, sings about Military Madness, and Peace and Rocking in the Free World, but thinks Trump is a danger to America and the World at large…
WTF am I missing here????
