Mehdi Hasan is a cocky, unpleasant, shallow man, a Muslim import from the UK whose resistible rise in journalism will put many in mind of a Muslim Sammy Glick. In the UK, he first came to the attention of the public for taking part in a debate held the Oxford Union in 2009, where he argued for the proposition that “Islam is a religion of peace.” A majority voted for the resolution, agreeing that yes, indeed, “Islam is a religion of peace.” Curiously, no one on the other side of the debate bothered to quote the dozens of Qur’anic verses calling for violence against Infidels, instructing Muslims to “smite at their necks,” and so on and so bloody forth. Nor was there mention of the thousands of ahadith containing stories about Mohammed’s military campaigns – he took part in eighty, of them, with twenty of them involving his participation in battles. Mehdi Hasan knows all about those Qur’anic verses, and the stories about Muhammad in the authoritative collections of ahadith of Bukhari and Muslim. But Mehdi Hasan still wanted us to believe that Islam is a “religion of peace.”
Why Mehdi Hasan’s departure from MSNBC is a good thing is clear from what is reported here: “‘New year, new plans,’ says Mehdi Hasan, announcing ‘MSNBC’ departure,” JNS, January 8, 2024. Hasan has said:
“Ever since 9/11, we have just taken it for granted that certain countries can send drones or bombs into foreign sovereign countries, across national borders, to kill people they’ve decided, without an arrest or trial, are guilty of crimes,” Hasan wrote on Jan. 2. “But most other countries can’t do this.”
So Israel, according to Mehdi Hasan, is especially favored: it can send drones, it can bomb, unlike other countries, with no consequences. Also sprach Mehdi Hasan. It’s nonsense. The Houthis, backed by Iran, have been sending drones “across national borders” into Saudi Arabia for years, and are now sending them to attack ships in international waters. Hezbollah has been sending drones into northern Israel from Lebanon. The Russians have been sending drones and missiles into Ukraine, which responds in kind. Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq has used drones to attack American bases in Syria and Iraq. And Turkey uses drones in its intermittent attacks on Kurdish areas of Syria. And of course there have been “consequences” for Israel in its wars of self-defense: endless condemnations at the UN. In 2022 the General Assembly passed 15 resolutions condemning Israel, while a total of 13 were passed that condemned the other192 states combined.
Hasan describes Israel has being allowed to “kill people they’ve decided, without an arrest or trial, are guilty of crimes.” What is he talking about? Is there any war anywhere that began first with “an arrest and a trial”? Is that what we did after Pearl Harbor — hold a “trial” with Imperial Japan in the dock? No, we declared war the next day. Did we put Hitler on trial before attacking Nazi Germany? Countries are not individuals. They go to war for any number of reasons. Hamas goes to war because it wants to destroy Israel and annihilate the Jews, not only in Israel but everywhere. On October 7 unbelievable atrocities — beheading of babies, children burned alive, the gang-rapes and tortures and murders of Israeli girls, the slicing off of breasts of women, the gouging out of eyes and cutting off genitalia of men, children murdered in front of their parents, and parents in front of their children – were committed. Many of these atrocities were videotaped by the terrorists themselves, proud of their deeds; one of them phoned home to announce “Mom, I killed ten Jews with my own hands.” And so the IDF went to war, every bit as justified as was the United States on December 8, 1941. It’s not a war Israel wanted; it’s a war Hamas wanted, though it assumed, wrongly, that this campaign would be fought the way Israel had fought previous wars with it in the past. This time, the gloves were off, and an enraged and traumatized Israel called up 360,000 reservists, entered Gaza in massive numbers, and is now determined to fight as long as It takes to destroy Hamas as a military power, even – the Israeli generals keep saying — “for the rest of the year” if necessary. Mehdi Hasan thinks Israel should be stopped right now, with a permanent ceasefire. He claims that the war is illegitimate; Hamas is conducting a justified “resistance” against Israel for “occupying” Gaza, even though Israel left the Strip in 2005.
Now Hasan has lost his bully pulpit and main source of income. And how many Western stations would now be willing to employ him, the man who describes non-Muslims as “animals” and defends Hamas from those who criticize it for the October 7 massacres? Other than Al Jazeera, what organization would now hire him? And if he goes back to work for Al Jazeera, where he used to work and where he will fit right it, he’ll no longer be able to pretend to be an objective Western journalist, but will be seen more clearly for what he always was: a shill for Qatar, for Islam, and for Hamas terrorists.

Son of a Hyderabadi butcher, endeavouring to live up to his ancestral occupational antecedents. A thoroughly nasty piece of work lionised by the moronic student cohort of Oxford, taught by an infamous serial rapist still languishing in French judicial custody. The university was reluctant to dismiss him initially and has likely continued to pay his salary. The sum total if contemporary Western academia, without moral compass or intellectual nous!

The succinct term for this university intellectual lassitude is “midwifery” I learned.

Never heard of this bloke! Anybody that believes a Muslim has rocks in his head. There is something about Islam that makes the Muslims compulsive liars. They lie when there is no need to lie, and often their lies are so bizarre that they are false on their faces. Just look at the falsehoods coming out of Hamas or Hizb’allah or Iran.

Since he’s a shi’a, aside from al Jazeera, he should also be perfectly at home on Iranian or Hizbullah TV stations

Islamic Republic News Agency has an English language section.

So, Mehdi, what crimes were those gang-raped women found to be guilty of, and in what trials? The infants in ovens were proved to be guilty of what? When and where was that trial? Do tell. And shame on you, Oxford. You launched this porker.

This ghoul sees things only from the wickedly evil, demonic way of islam. In his brain, as in the brains of hamas, iran, hezbollah, houthis, etc….it is acceptable to do those things because he is devoted to satan and satan would do those things if allowed.
Hoi Polloi says
Well said.

Let us always remember and remind people everywhere that it was MSNBC who promoted this wretched monster.
