Alongside the global LGBTQIA+ communities, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has written an open letter to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joining the call for an immediate and enduring ceasefire in Gaza.
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras’ established Ethical Charter process means Sydney Mardi Gras will never knowingly accept funding or donations from organisations connected to war, genocide and violence. We are committed to not accepting any funding from organisations which are complicit in the ongoing violence in Palestine.

Dear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese,
I am writing as the CEO of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in support of the global calls for an immediate and enduring ceasefire in Gaza.
Sydney Mardi Gras was born in 1978 by a brave group of activists that, at their core, were driven by the mission that every person should be treated equally and that we all have the right to live freely and safely. These same convictions still drive Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras today. We believe that all life is precious, and every person has the right to live without fear – regardless of sexuality, nationality, gender, belief or location.
Our Festival each year is not simply a moment of celebration, it’s a call for greater love and understanding and is designed to create safe space for everyone.
In this belief we join, alongside global LGBTQIA+ communities, in supporting the international call for an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian assistance and the immediate release of all hostages in the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. We urge that the Australian government intervene and call for the Israeli forces to make every effort to protect the lives of civilians….

In all fairness, there are Christian Churches, such as Baptist that are very much against homosexuality but in a different way.

No, the Christian (of many denominations) will tell the homosexual that he is sinfully abusing his sexuality, and will pray for his repentance and regeneration. The Muslims will stone the catamite while letting the sodomite off if he is wealthy and powerful enough.

Their letter is a meaningless motherhood statement, a wish list of wondrous things that would be great to see, but it is also naive and idiotic. They join the big list of people calling for a ceasefire. But Israel surely knows that a ceasefire would give the scum of the earth from hamas to chance to regroup and try to murder more israelis. A ceasefire would merely help a bunch of savages from hamas, evil scum who definitely do not believe that all people deserve to live peaceful lives but want to kill all Israelis. The letter is brainless, naive, idiotic garbage written by a bunch of fools who refuse to face reality. And islam would have them all killed for being gay. Thanks, James. Yes, some people truly do live on another planet, probably should be called planet woke, and harsh reality just never ever seems to get through to them. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I’ll spend Christmas at one of my sister’s house which is in a very nice area near Sydney Harbour. It is nice to visit parts of Sydney like that from time to time though I don’t mind pottering around in the area where I live which is quite a long way from those areas. I prefer the warm summer months which is what we get for Christmas down here.

What amuses me is all these persons or groups demanding a ceasefire overlook the fact Hamas has and still continue to fire rockets into Israel with the purpose of killing or injuring Israeli citizens and expect Israel alone to top. Israel is THE VICTIM. What did the persons now clamoring for a ceasefire say when the jihadists swarmed into Israel murdering men women AND CHILDREN. Babies were burnt alive , had their heads chopped off in front of the mothers, , one of whom was pregnant, was cut open, the baby taken out, beheaded with the mother watching, then she was killed. Men and women raped, so violently their bones were broken. Even one part of which would in my opinion warrant death and destruction of the evil persons and those who support them.

All true; besides the fact that the gazans have been warned to avoid some places and to leave others before attacks by Israel. On top of that, hezbollah, terrorists in iraq and the houthis are all fighting Israel. And iran is attempting to stop all traffic into Israel with needed supplies.
If Israel stops…ceases….then the terrorists will just have fewer obstacles to their complete destruction of the Jews.

How about we move next year’s festival from Sydney to somewhere like Tehran Iran, or Afghanistan, or Saudi Arabia. That would make some interesting tv viewing.
The main festival would come under attack from pious Muslims, & you would see the woke gay people getting dragged away by an angry mob, never to be seen alive again.

Good point. Wouldn’t it be a scandal, David M, if the scantily clad people from the Mardi Gras parade in Sydney were ever shown in a Muslim country?. Actually, it could do a lot of good. I can see Muslim heads exploding everywhere, like those Martians in the movie “Mars attacks”, (I think that was the title of the movie) if they were confronted by the people in the parade along Oxford Street. But, of course, the Muslims would murder all the gays if they could get their murderous hands on them.
