Yet another convert to Islam somehow gets the crazy idea that his new, peaceful religion requires him to do violence to non-Muslims. Authorities remain resolutely incurious about this recurring phenomenon.

An 18-year-old man who converted to Islam and was fascinated by the so-called Islamic State, planned a suicide attack on policemen from the District Police Headquarters in Ząbkowice Śląskie. The indictment in this case was brought to court. The man faces 10 years in prison.
“The Prosecutor of the Lower Silesian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław accused the accused of participating in an organized criminal group aimed at committing a terrorist crime,” said Prosecutor Karol Borchólski, from the press team of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
“Further charges concern planning to use explosives to carry out an event that would threaten the life or health of many people or large-scale property,” added the prosecutor.
The man faces up to 10 years in prison. He is still in custody.
The inspiration came from outside
A man from a small town near Ząbkowice Śląskie was detained by officers of the Internal Security Agency in June. During the search of his house, evidence was found that he was preparing a terrorist attack, the target of which was police officers from the District Police Headquarters in Ząbkowice Śląskie.
“At the end of 2022, the accused changed his religion to Islam. He was modeled, among others, on people such as Osama Bin Laden,” added prosecutor Borchólski.
“He was inspired by the activities of the so-called Islamic State and ISIS; entered into an agreement with members of these organizations. He collected information and semi-finished products to make a shahid belt, with which he planned to carry out a bomb attack on a government office building in Poland,” explained the prosecutor.
After the would-be attacker was arrested, Stanisław Żaryn, then deputy minister coordinator of secret services, revealed more details about the man’s contacts.
“People from outside the borders of the Republic of Poland instructed him and created conditions for his self-radicalization; there is talk of preparing a terrorist attack in cooperation with other people, but it is not the case that there is a criminal group operating in Poland that was supposed to be behind this attack,” Żaryn said on Polskie Radio 24.
“The evidence in this case shows that we are dealing with one person who planned the attack, who was in contact with people from outside the borders who indoctrinated and instructed him,” he explained.

The single-engine plane crashed into power lines in the city of Independence, OR shortly before 5 p.m. local time, knocking out power and sparking a brush fire. Killed in the crash were the plane’s pilot, 35-year-old Mohammad Hussain Musawi of Independence, and passengers Mohammad Bashir Safdari, 35, of Independence and Ali Jan Ferdawsi, 29, of Salem, Oregon.
