‘Conquered’: Minnesota’s New Flag Bears a Strong Resemblance to THIS Flag

No one noticed until the world got woke, but it turned out that Minnesota’s state flag was racist and white supremacist. That would never do, and so the State Emblems Redesign Commission went to work to choose a new flag that would reflect the realities of today’s brave new diverse, multicultural Minnesota. On Friday, they picked a new flag, subject to a bit more tweaking before the end of the year, and the commission did a terrific job: their new banner does indeed reflect the new Minnesota. Not everyone, however, thinks that’s a good thing.

The bad old Minnesota flag reflected the realities of a vanished America: it depicted a farmer plowing in the foreground while a Native American is riding a horse in the opposite direction in the background. The two figures are not interacting, and there is no indication of any discord between them, but one could conceivably understand the image as the white man supplanting the Native American as the owner and developer of the land, while the land’s original owner rides off into history.

It’s easy to see how that would not be acceptable to today’s Minnesotans, and why the Minnesota of Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar would need, and indeed demand, a new flag that properly represents the fact that this is no longer the Minnesota of Hubert Humphrey, Harmon Killebrew and Mary Tyler Moore. And oh boy, did they get one.

The Minnesota media focused on the fact that the new flag features an abstract rendering of the shape of the state itself, plus a star, in keeping with its nickname, the North Star State. MPR News reported Friday: “What’s striped and shows a blocky figure of Minnesota and an eight-point North Star? Minnesota’s new state flag.” The Star Tribune said the same thing, albeit a trifle more sedately: “Minnesota’s next flag will feature an abstract shape of the state with an eight-pointed white North Star on its hoist.” No one who read these reports, however, would get any idea of what has raised eyebrows about the new flag.

The abstract Minnesota shape and the star are on the left side of the flag. Unmentioned is the fact that the design the commission chose, which could still be changed before year’s end, features three stripes on the right side. Are they red, white, and blue, to reflect Minnesota’s status as the thirty-second state to join the American Union? Come on, man! This is the new Minnesota we’re talking about, not the bad old systemically racist, white supremacist one. The new flag’s stripes are instead white, green, and blue.

  1. I grew up in Minnesota. I do not like this flag design or Ilhan Omar. The Somalis with their women in hijabs are not Americans or Minnesotans. They should deport Ilhan or at least vote her out of office along with all the Democrats. I hope Minnesota turns red and kicks the Dems out of our state government. I want the Minnesota I grew up in, not the one the far leftists are inventing. Where is Garrison Keillor and Lake Wobegone and Les Blacklock when we need them? Where are F. Scott Fitgerald and Charles Lindberg and Sinclair Lewis and Hubert Humphrey and Bud Grant and Bob Short? Women in hijabs, burkas and niqabs and broadcasts of the call to prayer five times a day and halal meat and meals and all the rest can stay in Africa along with the rest of the nice people of Somalia. And Ilhan is a crook and anti-semite. Why not make a flag for Minnesota with allusions to Israel instead of Africa and Islam? What state does the DFL think they have conquered?

  3. The old flag had its starry motto written in French? Why was that? Excuse my ignorance but the second half of the 19th Century seems a bit late for celebrating French America.

    • Though I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, I was born in Minnesota. Of the rapidly dwindly number of my father’s immediate relatives, many still live there.

      He had never spoken to his grandfather as the old guy was deaf, and only spoke French.

  4. Not a damn thing on the new abstract design says a thing about Minnesota, deviates from original design by 180 degrees, resembles Middle East more than Minnesota. I give it an F- ?

  5. Glad I don’t live there anymore. It’s hard to understand why people can’t figure out that we are heading toward Islamic law, especially with blatant things like that. At the time that people wanted to rename Lake Calhoun with some unpronounceable Indian name, I suggested they might just as well name it Lake Muhammad to avoid a second name change later on this century.

  6. The flag looks like it could be any mozlum-run nation’s flag. All it needs to be fully on islam, is a crescent moon.
    Is the shape of the blue area supposed to represent the state’s shape? Looks more like a big K…perhaps for the name of the book of filthy, demonic evil upon which mozlums place so much importance that they murder and rape according to its demands.

  7. What a bunch of cowards, neville chamberlain would be proud as would heydrich. They took a normal flag and made it into some hybrid flag or minnesota, somalia and ‘palestine.’ Sissies and appeasers.

  8. So the blue in the flag is Democrat, and Green is islamic. What does White signify – surrender?

  9. — Compare the proposed Minnesota flag to the flag of the province of Jubaland in Somalia. Both flags have three white, blue and green stripes on the right side. Both flags have a white star on a blue background on the left side.
    — The only difference is that the Somalian Jubaland flag has the white star placed on a blue triangle that intrudes onto the larger striped area. While the proposed Minnesota flag has the larger right-hand side striped area protruding into the white star/blue background area.
    — This abject surrender to Islam has GOT TO STOP. Why should the culture that freed the slaves surrender to the culture that enslaved them? Why should the culture that invented equal rights bow to the culture that promotes extreme male privilege and extreme Muslim privilege over others?
    — Ho, ho, Hey, hey. Western Civ had better stay. (Becuase rule by Islam will erase 200 years of moral progress.)

  11. Appalling and absurd, but not at all surprising. I find it interesting that the five-pointed star that appears on the Somali flags was replaced by an octogram, or eight-pointed star. The symbolism of which has a variety of meanings, but other than Ishtar, I don’t understand the change as it relates to the malignant ideology that is Islam.
