Many people have behaved in surprising ways since the October 7 murders by Hamas of 1400 Israelis, most of them civilians. Grief and rage have not been the only responses to the stories — and videos — of babies beheaded or burned alive in ovens, of children stabbed or shot dead, of girls tortured and raped literally to death, of parents killed in front of their children, and parents killed in front of their children, by gleeful Hamas killers, some of whom phoned home to announce to their parents what they had done, including one who proudly told his mother “Mom, I just killed ten Jews. I’m a hero.” And she responded: “I wish I could be there with you.”
One of those creatures whose nauseating response has just passed within my ken is a standup “comedian,” one Hans Kim, who was very proud of his being “out there” as he joked about Jews, Hamas, and October 7. You can see a bit of his unfunny routine here.
And comment on his performance in Austin, Texas can be found here: “Asian-American comic Hans Kim mocks Oct. 7 massacre,” Jerusalem Post, November 10, 2023:
Comic Hans Kim used stage time to joke about the October 7th massacre, quickly posting the act on the social media platform Instagram on Thursday, as per his account @djhanskim.
He was proud of his performance, and made sure to post it ASAP on Instagram.
In his act, he talked about how he was not leaving a tip for service workers at restaurants “in support of Israel” from his recent show at Austin-based podcast, Kill Tony.
Get it? Jews are cheap, so out of solidarity with them, I didn’t leave a tip, either.
He continued to talk about the density [sic] of the situation on the ground in Israel and the rising Palestinian death toll in Gaza as a result of Israel’s defensive airstrikes.
“It’s a real halal-ocaust over there,” he exclaimed.
What could be funnier than a joke about the Holocaust? Can’t we all just chillax and have a little laugh? And besides, it’s the Muslims who are the “halal-ocaust” victims today, right? And guess who’s committing it?
After, he talked about the NOVA music festival massacre, before proceeding to blame the victims for the location which hosted the music festival – “Why are you having a music festival next to Gaza?”
‘I wouldn’t want to be that close to a bunch of hungry, thirsty Arabs’
His jokes also contained rhetoric toward the Arab community, and suggested that terrorists paragliding from the Gaza Strip into Israel was a frequent occurrence.
His act was reposted by social media account @antisemitismtoday and influencer Melissa Chapman, which both frequently highlight antisemitic rhetoric and posts found across the web.
Here’s how to answer the deplorable Hans Kim: Boycott his performances, and on social media urge others to do the same. Re-post this segment of his act to which I have given a link above, that puts on display his coarseness, his cruelty, his stupidity, and his unfunniness.
Hit him in the only part of his being that he truly cares about: his wallet. A few months of playing to half-empty houses will make him reconsider his sense of humor. But by then it will be too late.

Once Karen Johnson, a.k.a. Whoopi Goldberg (she said Goldberg was funnier that Whoopi Cushion – her original choice), once said that (paraphrasing) as “entertainers” they are exempt from being faulted for making tasteless remarks.”

The truly great comedians of the past, Jewish ones in particular, made fun of their situations and themselves. Comedians such as Eddie Cantor, Milton Berle and other Jewish funny men would make fun of the Jewish stereotypes as well as themselves. They would never have made fun of people being slaughtered or tortured; not even war criminals such as Hamas.
