In October, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and pledged his solidarity with Israel as Netanyahu discussed Hamas’ use of human shields. But Macron’s solidarity pledge fizzled.
Macron, has rejected Israeli plans to push civilians into safe zones in the south of Gaza and said the world must pursue a humanitarian ceasefire as the only way to save lives in the territory. He was opening a hastily assembled humanitarian conference in Paris attended by politicians, NGOs and leaders of the UN humanitarian movement.
It is good that Israel rejected Macron’s invitation to the Paris conference, particularly since Macron also invited Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, who did attend. Shtayyeh stated that “this war was not against Hamas, but against all Palestinian people.” It is a common practice to use deceit (taqiyya) in Islam. While Shtayyeh presents one face at the Paris conference, he also wrote on his Facebook page, after the ISIS-like Hamas attack on Israeli citizens:
‘Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs.’ So, the people who did these murders are heroic jihad fighters.
Israel is a sovereign nation and must pursue what is best for its own citizens. In response to Macron, Netanyahu issued a statement, which was released by the Israel Government Press Office:

The responsibility for any harm to civilians lies with Hamas – ISIS and not with Israel.
It must be remembered that Israel entered the war due to that terrorist organisation’s brutal murder of hundreds of Israelis and holding hostage more than 200 Israelis.
While Israel does everything in its power to avoid harming civilians and urges them to leave the battle areas, Hamas – ISIS is doing all it can to prevent them from moving to safe areas and uses them as human shields.
Hamas – ISIS is cruelly holding our people hostage – women, children, the elderly – and thus committing a crime against humanity.
Hamas – ISIS is using schools, mosques and hospitals as terrorist command centers.
The crimes being committed today by Hamas – ISIS in Gaza will be committed tomorrow in Paris, New York and all over the world.
The leaders of the world should be condemning Hamas – ISIS, not Israel.
The leaders of the Western world should also be pressuring and condemning Egypt, Jordan and Turkey for refusing to take in Palestinian refugees.

Macron described the proposal for safe zones in the south of Gaza as a very bad idea that would not guarantee safety because no political agreement existed for them.
The conference did, however, hear support for a maritime humanitarian corridor from Cyprus to Southern Gaza….
