The Egyptian Umm Kulthum (1898-1975) was, and long after her death remains, the most famous singer in the Arab world. Indeed, she is regarded as the greatest female Arabic singer in history. She has always had a large and loyal following in Israel, especially among Mizrahi Jews; they are quite capable of separating her political views from her musical gifts.
Now her music has been played, touchingly, by an Israeli Arab doctor on a keyboard and his Jewish patient on a violin at the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. An IDF soldier who was seriously wounded while fighting in Gaza is filmed playing a rendition of Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum’s Inta Omri [“You Are My Life”] with the Arab doctor at Ashkelon’s Barzilai Medical Center who has been treating him for the past week.
What a high level of trust must exist for this Arab doctor to be assigned, routinely, to treat a wounded Jewish soldier. Arab doctors treat Jewish patients. Jewish patients play Arab music with their Arab doctors. Jewish visitors, and Arab nurses, at the Barzilai Medical Center, applaud both. And a good time is had by all.

Well, while I’m happy for this patient, I’d move the earth to avoid being treated by a mohammedan doctor. I’ve read enough horror stories of what they do, like in India where one such doctor circumcized a newborn Hindu, whose faith does not require it

Touching story. As a side note, look at the skin color of the Palestinian doctor juxtaposed to that of the Israeli soldier he’s making music with. Turns on its head the left-wing prism of ‘white’ Israelis “oppressing” ‘people of color’.

70% of the health practitioners here in Israel are Arabs. Some who are outspokenly supporting of Hamas and terrorist activity against Jews get discharged but most aren’t.
