When you think of terrorists in diplomatic, not military terms, you can’t win.
The reports of a deal with Hamas brokered by its state sponsors in Qatar are a disaster and a disgrace. But such a deal was tragically inevitable.
A deal with Islamic terrorists is always a mistake. One of the reasons it’s a mistake is because the real terms of any deal give the terrorists control over your decision-making process. That is their goal.
Israel has suffered 30+ years of escalating terror because it made a deal with Arafat.
Oct 7 happened because Israel made deals for quiet with Hamas.
When you think of terrorists in diplomatic, not military terms, you can’t win.
Modern nation-states prefer diplomacy to conflict. They use military force as leverage for reaching a diplomatic solution. Terrorists, guerrillas and such however use diplomacy as leverage for military victories.
The failure to grasp this simple point led to the disaster in Vietnam and various defeats against Marxist guerrillas in Latin America. Israel was relatively immune to this until, under pressure from the Bush/Clinton administrations, it began negotiating with the PLO. But rather than bringing peace, Islamic terrorists used diplomacy to expand their sphere of influence, build up their arsenal, and attack Israel. When Israel tried to fight them in the international arena, it failed.
Terrorists can only be defeated ‘politically’ when they have no international standing. But when they have international support, they can only be defeated militarily. The more Israel tried to win the ‘war of ideas’, much like our efforts to win the ‘hearts and minds’ of Muslims, the worse things got. Israel’s international status declined and the violence increased.
Exhausted by decades of fighting, Israel decided to ignore them. This was the position of Israeli conservative leaders like Sharon and Netanyahu. Walls were built up. Jews were forcibly removed from Gaza. Negotiations dropped off. But while this was a diplomatic success as the world paid much less attention to the terrorists, it was not a military success.
Israel had not defeated the terrorists, it had tried to physically isolate them. And this wasn’t really possible. So the fiction that they could be isolated was propped up by ceasefires and deterrence. Oct 7 should have ended that.
Any agreement with Hamas puts Israel right back on the diplomatic track at the expense of the military one.
When you negotiate with terrorists, you’re no longer trying to defeat them. And at that point you’re losing both diplomatically and militarily.
The only way to defeat the terrorists is to destroy them.

There’s no question a pause, a temporary cease fire, etc or any “deal” with these evil cretens can be troublesome. Netanyahu is under a lot of internal pressure to have the hostages released. Many are probably dead already or dying for lack of necessities. To simply “write them off” as lost is not an option, although I suspect there are several in his cabinet who think otherwise. Unless already higher, the death toll of 66 Israeli soldiers will continue to rise as the Israelis try to eliminate every Hamas member hiding in any one of a thousand or more rats’ nests.
However, I think a temporary truce might be plausible at this juncture. Now is the time for the Mossad to do what they do best, start taking out the Hamas leadership in Qatar, one at a time, until all the hostages are released or accounted for and the northern border is secure.

That is right, even the title of article explained the truth well .which is that “A deal with Islamic terrorists is always a mistake.” For all any “ceasefire” would do is to give time for the jihadists ,who belong to that murderous jihad entity Hamas, to regroup and then viciously attack Israel again and viciously murder her people.
That official spokesman for Hamas by his very words ,reveal that he and his jihadist brothers in the “House of Islam” have no regrets of remorse that vicious and murderous Hamas massacre on October 7th. 2023.
Moreover, the terrible reality is that many times history repeats itself, as then evil happenings do reoccur.
As with that October 7th. 2023 murderous jihadists attacks against all those young people at that music festival, which was intended by the Israeli’s to be a joyful event but the vicious and death infecting jihadist of Hamas turned it into a tragic event.
Six years before that Islamic abomination occurred at that place in the State of Israel ,there was that murderous jihadist bombing at a music concert in the city of Manchester of the United Kingdom, the British of the city had intended that concert to be a joyful event but that vicious and death inflecting jihadist suicide/homicide bomber turned it into a tragic event.
The deluded dangerous deadly and demonic evils of Islam’s jihadists has no limit.

I agree w/ Daniel and Robert, but as long as rescuing the hostages was a priority, it was bound to happen. I do think that if Israel decided to “sacrifice” hostages one time i.e. write off the hostages as dead and make its operations against Hamas retaliatory as opposed to a rescue operation, that could be a possible deterrent. Of course, chances are that that would be a political non-starter, which is why the Israelis did what they did
One thing they should do, once this is over, is restore their version of the Second Amendment fully. Israel used to have that, but it got eroded over time w/ successive leftist governments. They need to arm every citizen throughout, so that the next paragliders who come in get sent directly to… wherever!
Oh, & another thing: completely end the work visa permits for all muslims going to Israel. I read elsewhere that Israel is asking countries like India and Taiwan for the workers that they’re not gonna get from “Palestine”. That’ll only work if Israel can guarantee their safety: right now, there are some Nepalese and Thai people among the hostages

I have been wondering just how many hostages are actually still alive and being held.
We’ve seen the video of at least one dying/dead. I’ve read of others who have been declared dead while being held.
So how many would be “sacrificed” by a non-deal with the terrorists? Each death is a tragedy, but the mozlums count on deals to get themselves out of their predicament.

Imagine what the young girls and women have gone through. Any bets that, if still alive, they won’t be released to tell their stories?

Just terrorists? Any deal with any Muslims or Islamic state is always a mistake. Muslims are permitted to lie and break treaties with the kafirs when it advances the cause of Islam.
War is deceit.
