NYC: Jewish students locked into college library to protect them from raging pro-Hamas mob

“Jewish Students at NYC College Cornered by Pro-Hamas Protesters, Told to Hide in Attic,” Jewish Voice, October 26, 2023:

Jewish students at Cooper Union, a private New York City college, were locked inside a library Wednesday as pro-Palestine and pro-Hamas protesters beat their fists on the doors, screamed, and tried to gain entry.

Videos sent by terrified students trapped in the library initially were shared on social media Wednesday afternoon by Jake Novak, former media director at the Israeli Consulate in New York.

Novak reported that the New York Police Department was called “as soon as the protesters stormed the main Cooper Union building, but [officers] did nothing.”

New York City Council member Inna Vernikov said Thursday morning that she had spoken with four of the students barricaded in the library. No one was arrested in the incident, Vernikov said….

Novak said Cooper Union librarians “bolted the doors” to prevent pro-Palestine and pro-Hamas protesters from entering the library, then told “identifiable” Jewish students to “hide in the attic if they wanted to.”…

 

Vernikov said Cooper Union faculty members not only canceled class to accommodate a walkout for the protest, but “encouraged students to participate and even offered extra credit” for participating. She also noted that faculty members joined the protest.

The Daily Signal sought comment from Cooper Union, including information on which classes were canceled and which faculty members encouraged students to participate. College officials didn’t respond by publication time.

The Jewish students barricaded in the Cooper Union library were evacuated through tunnels Wednesday evening, while the university and police left the protesters alone, Vernikov and others said.

Vernikov reported Thursday morning that Jewish students at Cooper Union were staying home for fear of safety and some are dropping classes. Three students who were barricaded in the library told her that they “will never walk in there feeling alright again,” Vernikov said….

      • Don’t blame the teachers, our Government allows these foreign islamic students into the country on student visas. Our School Administrators excepted the money from islamic countries that have infiltrated our education system with muslim/islamic professors teaching muslim studies on our campuses .

    If the shoe was on the other foot, and mozlums said they had to be barricaded in for safety from a mob, the pd would not have hesitated to go in and fake prez and crew would be yelling about it.

    But the pd said they were not allowed to go on campus. That sounds very much like a lie.

    Speaks volumes for all those still capable of thinking clearly, sadly a declining number in one Western nation after another.

    • How true, and that has been the on-way attitude of Islam since its beginning: “You must tolerate us and some harassment by the true believers, or, we will get violent!”

      Surely, the early refusal of Jews to accept the fabricated injection of Islam into the Talmud was when the Quran picked up its anti-Jew passages. Other than “Mein Kamph”, is there a book more anti-Jew than the Quran?

      Sadly, too many, particularly the youth, cannot conceive that a religion would lie or omit its long range goal of usurping their society. They get easily fooled by fake victimhood and start thinking of Jews like the abusers of sad dogs on tear-jerk PETA commercials.

      If citizens would only read the Quran or hear world leaders read the horrific passages and condemn them, misguided persecution Jews would stop. The Western world leaders, when faced with the reality of Islam, are more or less cowards – and encourage it with capitulation.

    • They should throw out the students that protested and tell them to go study in Gaza. There they can get their graduation to hell. And keep their tuition money. Or better yet set up concentration camps and turn them into floating ash.

      • How many of those students are on visas from other countries? They should have those visas revolted and sent back home! It was in the news many of the “students” were had faces covered because of the fear of the new “China flu” ,or that it might effect future employment that they are backing murdering ,rapist ,kidnaping Jihad terrorist ? These people who are supporting the Hamas today in 2023 are no better then the people who in New York City supported the German bunds in the 1930s.

        • Taking their visas and sending them packing….is the Law. To not take their visas….a permission to be here…and not sending them out of country, is a breaking, in non–enforcement, of the law.

However this shows with clarity how low academia in US has sunk when professors give course credit to students for joinhg a lynch mob and cancel classes. All the participants should be fired or dismissed from the college
