After the scenes of violence at the Gran Konser Solider de La Citadelle, the police made new arrests, bringing the total number of people apprehended to eleven. Investigators also drew up a list of around twenty other suspects.
The scenes of terror and acts of violence which interrupted the Gran Konser Solider organized by La Isla Social Club and the Attitude hotel group on Saturday evening at La Citadelle will not go unpunished. After two initial arrests on Sunday, nine other suspected troublemakers were apprehended on Monday, October 23, 2023. Investigators from the Major Crime Investigation Team, led by Superintendent of Police Ghoora, also drew up a list of around twenty others suspects who will be arrested soon.
The individuals apprehended on Monday will be brought to court this Tuesday for provisional indictment. Six of them were arrested during targeted operations carried out in the morning by the Police Headquarters Special Striking Team, the Flying Squad and the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit of Rose-Hill, led by Assistant Superintendents of Police Ashik Jagai and Bahadoor, as well as by Chief Inspector Ramsawmy.
They are Sooltan S., 50 years old, Ramatoolah H., 43 years old, Azim and Djibrail M., aged respectively 21 and 23 years old, Raeez S., 38 years old, as well as Ajmal I., 23 years old. They all live in the suburbs of Rose-Hill. The three other suspects were arrested by the squad of Inspector Lullith of the Criminal Investigation Division of Port-Louis. They are Ally H., 27 years old, Zameer B. and Irfaan M.
The first two suspects arrested on Sunday in Port-Louis are Imteeaz Tourabaly, aged 38 and Train Captain of Metro Express Limited, and Anfaal Khodadin, aged 35 and originally from Vallée-Pitot. They were presented before the Port-Louis court on Monday and were provisionally charged with “damaging property by mob and unlawful assembly.”
Anfaal Khodadin is also the subject of a provisional charge of “bearing an offensive weapon.” At the time of his arrest, he had a sharp weapon in his possession.
It was thanks to Safe City network camera recordings that the suspects were traced. Most were not masked. If some, during their respective interrogations, admitted to their presence at the scene of the incidents, they nevertheless denied having vandalized the artists’ instruments. Everyone will be confronted with images from video surveillance cameras proving their presence at this musical event.
It was shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday that officers from the Trou-Fanfaron police station received information that individuals were preparing to cause trouble at this concert. Police officers, led by an assistant superintendent, intervened. However, security agents reportedly refused access to the police.
But the latter allegedly insisted before finally being able to enter the site. They immediately asked the organizer to end the event. At this precise moment, the main entrance to The Citadel was open. A truck from the organizer had already been mobilized so that the equipment could be loaded.
But it was too late. The troublemakers caught the bouncers and police present by surprise. Some, armed with sticks and hooded, abruptly ended this sold-out concert. The money collected after the sale of tickets is also intended to be paid to the associations Vent d’un Rêve, Terre de Paix, Alphabétisation de Fatima and Caritas Grand Gaube.
On stage as in the crowd, panic took precedence over joy and euphoria. Spectators and artists were terrified. Attackers took their place on the podium to destroy instruments. “Everyone finds out who arrives in the world. Out came the ale. Isi Plaine-Verte. Out came the ale. Of gold! Of gold!,” chanted some of the attackers, saying they were concerned about the situation currently prevailing in Palestine.
The police, overwhelmed by this excess violence, tried to intervene. Some members of the public deplore the fact that there were not enough law enforcement officers and security guards to deal with these troublemakers.

Excellent reporting. Names, ages, neighborhoods when the Arabs live and sometimes their employment. Now punish them. At the minimum they must pay for all the damage, especially the instruments. Second these people must be added to a potential terrorist watch list. France has seen what Arab terrorists can do and the results of their murderous attacks are well known. Now France has to stop being “polite” to these people in case there is another even where lives are taken. It seems Arabs enjoy attacking music festivals where many young people attend. The first big one was in Paris the second in Israel and now a third in France also. Time for France to step up and protect its citizens and treat the Arab rioters with the upmost seriousness.

This is a country that is <15% muslim, & not even Christian. So they need to crack down on these muslims before Mauritius too becomes a muslim-terrorized ?hole like India
