Position Announcement Department of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies

The Department of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies at the University of Oregon (UO) seeks to hire two tenure-track professors (rank open) beginning Fall 2024. The Department anticipates making one hire in Latinx studies (discipline and area of concentration open) and another in carceral studies (discipline and area of concentration open). However, we will also consider applications from candidates with strengths in critical refugee studies, environmental justice, or SWANA studies. We encourage applications from scholars engaged in interdisciplinary, relational, and intersectional analyses of race, gender, sexuality, indigeneity, and other vectors of power. The successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory, upper-division, and graduate courses in their fields, as well as other, more general courses that contribute to the various majors and minors under the Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies umbrella. Department or Program Summary

The Department of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies at the University of Oregon is a vibrant and collegial community. We are relational, interdisciplinary, and intersectional in our work, centering the ways that race, as a system of domination, is intimately tied to gender, class, sexuality, migration, indigeneity, and colonialism. With our students, we interrogate historical and contemporary manifestations of White supremacy and explain how systems of domination and acts of resistance create and recreate racial and colonial subjects.

Currently the department ranks third in terms of undergraduate ethnic studies degrees granted in the US, and demand for our classes continues to grow. The department offers a major and minor in ethnic studies; administers a major and minor in Native American and Indigenous studies; administers minors in Latinx studies and Black studies; and offers a Ph.D. in Indigenous, race, and ethnic studies. Among these affiliated programs, we serve over 200 undergraduate majors and minors. The University of Oregon is conducting a cluster of searches in Latinx studies this year in history, anthropology, English, linguistics, political science, and sociology, so the successful candidates will join a cohort of new hires across the university in addition to a welcoming intellectual community in the department.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. by Fall 2024. Candidates must show evidence of commitment to scholarly excellence, as seen in publications, grants, fellowships, and research collaborations appropriate to their rank. Evidence of teaching experience and excellence or potential for excellence in Indigenous, race, and ethnic studies is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated excellence in relational, comparative, intersectional, and transdisciplinary scholarship.

#2. Santa Clara University:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Black Technical Communication

The Department of English at Santa Clara university invites applications for a tenure-track position in Technical and Professional Communication (TPC) with primary expertise in Black TPC and additional expertise in one or more of the areas: user experience design, health communication, activism, community rhetorics, digital rhetorics, cultural rhetorics, and/or digital methods and methodologies. Cluster hire participants will receive mentorship and regular group meetings providing peer support and interdisciplinary intellectual community to support their scholarly and creative work

Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

TT Assistant Professor Position: Feminist/Queer/Trans Studies of Race in the Arts and Humanities

The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at Emory University is seeking applications for a feminist scholar with expertise in Feminist/Queer/Trans Studies of Race in the Arts and Humanities, with particular interest in Transnational, non-Western, decolonial and postcolonial, Indigenous, and/or Global Black Feminist approaches. We are searching for an assistant professor in the humanities whose work can support and train our students in a variety of interpretive/textual methods. Faculty whose research and teaching will contribute to the growth of WGSS by advancing theoretical and applied approaches to the study of gender, race, class, and sexuality are encouraged to apply.
