Nepal is 81% Hindu and beef is banned. Muslim migrants there are insisting that slaughtering cows and eating beef is their cultural right. Nepal is going to have to choose between surrendering its own traditions or calling upon the migrants to respect them. The West will eventually face the same choice.

Late last week, a video of some Muslim youths feasting on beef and asserting that slaughtering cows is their religious and cultural right went viral in Sunsari district of southeastern Nepal bordering India.
The video caused outrage in the Himalayan nation, where cow slaughter is banned. And it evoked largescale protests from Hindus who have planned a series of protests to demand the arrest of the Muslim youths and stronger enforcement of the beef ban in the country.

While Nepal may be 81% Hindu, it’s merely 5% muslim. Problem w/ that country is that ever since their monarchy fell, their constitution declared Nepal to be a Secular state, instead of an officially Hindu state the way it was earlier. Since then, communists have been in & out of power in Kathmandu, and Chinese influence is high in Nepal, where Beijing wants to neutralize Indian influence. The Chinese influence has also meant Nepal being more open to Pakistan, & there have been islamization activities in some of its border areas w/ India, much to the chagrin of locals
On this beef issue, given what the government is, it’s up to the people of Nepal to protest loudly against the slow islamization of their country. Make it so ugly for those beef-eaters that they’re forced to move to Bangladesh, which is diagonally south-east of South-East Nepal

I totally agree with you. Thou India has 40 million muslims but hindus should move fast unitedly to force govt to ban cow slaughtef and so should be in Nepal.

When I was serving in Afghanistan, I took my vacations in Nepal many times… beautiful country, lovely people and excellent food. It is a predominantly Hindu and Buddhist country. Very peaceful.
Have you noticed, wherever muslims set their foot on, they create problems……. Nepal should remove them from the country. and send them back to where they came from

This is maybe the one time I’ll side with Muslims-only on the issue of meat. The ban on beef is founded on the religious lunacy of Hinduism. Without any evidence, they think their ancestors come back as cows, which is why they’re ‘sacred.’
Actually there was probably a practical reason, like getting milk from cattle so they felt they needed to preserve them. That’s fine in a time of scarcity, but that’s not our reality today.
Sadly no religions have any built-in means to keep up with the times, which is why they’re all outdated nonsense.
Ofc the danger of Islam far outweighs the right of Muslims to eat beef, so it is better for Nepal (and all countries) to send Muslims to any Islamic state they prefer to live in.

There are a bunch of reasons Hindus regard beef as verboten:
➤ The main companion of Shiva is Nandi, a bull, who doubles as his mount and his devotee. As an Atheist, you may not believe that Shiva exists, but that’s not the belief of a majority of Nepalese people
➤ Since the cow is the only animal whose milk is easily digested by humans, it is considered the equivalent of a mother. Particularly given all the milk by-products that exist
➤ In rural India, cows are de-facto pets: they won’t eat them just like you wouldn’t eat your pet dog or cat. Or would you?
There is nothing preventing muslims from slaughtering cattle in Pakistan or Bangladesh, neither of which is too far from Nepal. They can move there, and leave Nepali Hindus alone
P.S. Since it’s a mountainous country, Nepalese, unlike many Indians, are not vegetarian. The closest thing to beef that they do eat is water buffaloes

Many of the Muslims living in Nepal have been there for generations. It may be a Hindu majority nation, but this incident took place in the Terai region of Nepal. It’s said that eating beef is not a crime but slaughtering a cow can result in a life sentence. Muslims in Terai account for at least twelve percent of the population. Though some might have originated in Tibet or Kashmir, most are likely of Indian origin, along with a number of Bangladeshi refugees. It may be offensive to Hindus that cows are being killed, but it’s not clear that much can be done about it, in a region of the country where cows are accessible. A grudging vote for the beef eaters in this case..

As has been proven in recent history in a number of departments, the “slippery slope argument” is more of a trend-line than a logical fallacy. Therefore, irrational as it might sound, Hindus should crack down on this, otherwise Nepal will become as ugly a place for HIndus as India is

The Terai or Tarai is a lowland region in northern India and southern Nepal that lies south of the outer foothills of the Himalayas, the Sivalik Hills, and north of the Indo-Gangetic Plain.
The Muslims in the Terai region ( Plainland in the south) is entirely comprised of Indian migrants who came to Nepal in search of employment opportunities. The population of Terai Muslims constitutes almost two million people in the present day. They are scattered in the 20 districts of the Terai region. They have cultural, religious and other social ties associated with the Muslims of Northern India.
