Turkey should never have been permitted to join NATO, and there should be no talk of its joining the EU. Its values and goals couldn’t be more at odds with those of free societies. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made no secret of his goal of reviving the Ottoman Empire (that is, restoring a global caliphate) and has stated that Turkey has nothing that contradicts the Taliban’s beliefs.

While Nehammer stressed that Turkey would remain an important partner on an international level, there would be no prospect of Ankara ever joining the EU.
“It is important that we deal honestly with each other, and this also includes formally ending the accession negotiations that have been frozen for years and developing a new concept for neighbourly cooperation,” Nehammer said.
“We are in favour of further rapprochement between Ankara and Brussels, but full membership of Turkey in the EU is not conceivable for us,” he added.
Nehammer emphasised that Turkey would remain an important partner and that he will meet with Erdogan “in the near future.”
The negotiations between Turkey and the EU have been running for 18 years, but have stalled in recent years due to the country’s democratic backsliding and erosion of the rule of law after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tightened his grip on power following the 2018 presidential elections……

Good work, Austria! Now, if you could only join the ranks of your neighbors like Hungary & Poland in ensuring that there is no muslim migration into your country, while you deport every single one accused of any crimes to either their country of origin, or to somewhere like Bosnia or Albania. Albania should be good, since 1/3 of that country’s population has move to UK, & the latter is unable to do anything about it

The world was a different place in 1952, when Turkey joined NATO. We have no way of knowing how the cold war would have proceeded if Turkey had been cast aside. The Soviets had renounced a non-aggression treaty with Turkey that had been in place for decades. The USSR posed a real threat to the freedom of the West. Turkey joining NATO was a benefit to both sides. Most people thought Turkey would align with the West. To say that Turkey should never have been allowed to join NATO is an overstatement. The question is what to do about Turkey now that it has turned against the West.

True. For much of those 40 years, Turkey was anything but an islamic state, although its treatment of Greeks, Armenians and Kurds left much to be desired. But they were actually becoming more European, even had a woman prime minister in Tansu Ciller, and looked like they might one day be EU-worthy
However, even if one didn’t take a second look at Turkey’s membership in the 90s, when it refused to let the US use Incirlik in Operation Desert Storm, we should have started that process when Erdogan came to power, since now, the entire Kemalist paradigm on which the Republic of Turkey was based, was being pulled down. As Mark Steyn once pointed out, the people in Turkey’s coastal areas were the Kemalists, while the people in interior Turkey were the neo-Ottomans. The latter had never accepted Turkey’s secular conversion, and being islamic, they outbred the Kemalists, who like Europeans, were having fewer kids. The result is what we have today – a Turkey heavily loyal to Erdogan
Anyway, the other factor is that NATO doesn’t seem to have an official, established way for members to be removed from it, and it’s unlikely that they could put one together now: if Turkey wanted to remain, they’d veto it, and if they wanted to leave, they’d leave on their own, or would have left already. But somehow, NATO has to find a way to address Turkey’s neo-imperialist moves, be it against Greece, Armenia, Cyprus or even the Leviatian basin’s oil reserves, encroaching on maritime territory of Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel & Egypt, if it wants to be taken seriously

Islam is like a forest fire, unless you make sure every smoldering ember of this ideology is eradicated, there is always the possibility it can reignite and take over once again.
This is unfortunately what happened with Turkey. Ataturk called Islam “an absurd theology” and “a rotting corpse which poisons our lives.”
He was absolutely right, but he was weak and allowed this stupid ideology to persist in Arab/Turk coffee shops though it was abolished everywhere else and ofc that allowed this death cult to remain alive and eventually come roaring back.
Let that be a lesson for the rest of the world. The day we finally realize Islam must be eliminated, we must make sure there is zero tolerance for it anywhere and our measures must be firm and harsh.
As others noted it was a mistake to allow Turkey into NATO…it doesn’t share our values. Maybe at one point in the past it might’ve but now it’s time to boot out Turkey and allow membership to legit European nations like Sweden.
So long as Turkey is run by a Muslim Hitler like Erdogan it is an enemy of the West, every Muslim is really.
