There are some interesting, and uncharacteristic news reports about the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) coming out of Maryland. Usually, CAIR contributes nothing to our understanding of a news story. In this case, it does provide additional information, but there is a catch, in that it comes at someone else’s expense.
“Parents’ rights advocacy groups say emails show MCPS leaders concerned about class books, ‘opt out’ policy,” by Tom Fitzgerald, FOX 5 DC, August 1, 2023:
ROCKVILLE, Md. – The debate over parental rights continues within Montgomery County Public Schools. In a new development, parents’ rights advocacy groups say they have obtained emails showing that school leaders expressed concerns over not allowing parents to opt their children out of reading certain books with LGBTQ themes….
Recall that the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) board is requiring all students to participate in LBGT curricula, with no opt-out for anyone. Muslim parents are protesting this policy, but with little reaction from the MCPS board.
But now, on its own volition, CAIR has made public certain emails of a few MCPS board principals. These emails show that there are doubts among the staff about the appropriateness of the LGBT curricula in public schools.
CAIR displayed the emails and read excerpts from them during a press conference outside the school board.
Perhaps this is a good thing. Because apparently the school board is ignoring the parents.
But is publicizing emails really a good thing?
“Documents show MCPS principals, teachers concerned about LGBTQIA+ inclusive reading materials,” by Kellye Lynn, WJLA ABC7, August 1, 2023:
7News reached out to MCPS to find out if the system is considering CAIR’s request to provide an opt-out option and advanced parental notice when materials are presented to students in the classroom.
“Out of respect for and the integrity of pending litigation before the U.S. District Court of Maryland MCPS cannot comment at this time,” MCPS said in a statement.’
How many times have we seen CAIR commenting publicly on pending litigation, knowing full well that the other side cannot respond in kind?
“Montgomery County principals concerned over school books with LGBTQ characters,” by Nicole Asbury, Washington Post, August 2, 2023:
Attorneys from the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty — the organization representing those families — have incorporated the document detailing some of the principals’ concerns as a part of the lawsuit. Mitchell from CAIR said the organization shared the document with the attorneys, but the organization is not more directly involved with the case.
So it was not necessary for CAIR to go to the media. It is not directly involved.
CAIR has requested a meeting with the MCPS superintendent and school board about the reading materials but has not received a response.
There is no reason why anyone, even the Montgomery County School board, should answer to CAIR for anything.
It is unlikely that CAIR shared the emails with the school board before going public. Likewise, there is no indication that CAIR asked for permission from the authors of the emails before taking them to the TV station. And if any of the people CAIR has publicly exposed have their careers affected as a result, that will not matter one bit to America’s largest Muslim advocacy group.
It is getting harder not to notice that CAIR is handling the publicity for the Montgomery Public School board protest. CAIR wants to make it very clear that it is the one that found the emails and it is CAIR that is bringing them to the public, not the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. As a result, we see CAIR trying to pressure or hurt someone, and TV stations continue to help it do that.
The publicizing of the school board employees’ emails is part of the growing list of people and things CAIR has attacked on TV in the last six years.

Once again, that’s polite, professional, and careful to not step beyond what’s stated. You can’t, but I will. I think their goal is to afflict everyone in a position of any authority in order to usurp the power.

I agree. ‘not matter one bit”….?? Yes, it does matter. It matters a great deal to the scum of c.a.i.r. just how many people they affect with their weapons of war against non-mozlums of all sorts.
They count “the bodies” and note where they are “buried.” they cheer and pass out sweets when someone goes down.
Hoi Polloi says
So right. Doubtless they celebrate with glee.

Thank you, HP. I can imagine it; though I would rather not.

This is a multi faceted effort. To recruit, to make themselves appear wholesome and moral, and to intimidate the school board into making “concessions”. So then they can claim with conceit and self righteous nonsense that their religion made the difference.
How many of them are like the Iranian Islamist leaders and enjoy same sex encounters on the side?
Worse yet, how many of them frown on LGBT literature but; they themselves would “gladly” educate boys and girls “hands on” in how to please a muslim captor.
Just another hypocritical posturing.
Printe bumper stickers that say “I don’t CAIR”. Put them on every wall.

Good slogan.
