Just watched this video, & the role of Bill Burns was shocking. Essentially, before 2004, we had a golden opportunity to bring Russia into NATO & eliminate any concerns over a potential aggression against Eastern Europe. Instead, Burns fed into Russian officials that it was a good idea to expand their influence in Eastern Europe, where they were historically resented
When combined w/ the current US policy to pour endless money & weaponry into Ukraine, at the risk of jeopardizing our standing in the Indo-Pacific, this policy amounts to treason. If the decision to tell the Kremlin that Ukraine & Georgia was theirs was in the US interest, then our current support for a war against Russia is treason, as were our acts in the run-up to the war – inviting Ukraine to join NATO while Burns had, in back-channels, told the Kremlin that it was okay for them to invade & no attacks would be made on Russia by Ukrainians, or on other countries by Russians. If the current policy to oppose Russian occupation of any part of Ukraine was in our interests, then what Burns did from 2005 onwards was down & out treason. But yet, here he is, top of the CIA, having secret conversations w/ the top brass in the Kremlin
I also found chilling the parallels b/w the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, vs the Burns-Patrushev pact, on dissolving Poland and Ukraine. Within the country, our government behaves increasingly like a Fascist state, & here, in foreign policy, they seem to emulate that as well. I also just read up Burns on Wiki, & looks like he’s been involved in all the administrations – Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump & Biden. The next president needs to see him for what he’s been, & treat him accordingly

Respecting Poland specifically, Infidel, when it was asked of the Polish Pope, John Paul II, and who was fluent in many languages, if he spoke Russian, a spokesman for the Pope replied that no Pole spoke Russian but every Pole understood it. QED.
And on the matter of a “golden opportunity” to bring Russia into NATO back around 2004 (and which I readily admit would have been ideal), I think such an opportunity was more of a phantom opportunity than a real one because already by then Russia was under Putin’s sway. As one Russian student I taught said to me back in 2000 when I asked him what this Putin would be like when he first came to power and I, like so many others at the time looked upon him as an unknown commodity, replied in his fluent but accented English, “Once KGB, always KGB.” Good call, no?
