BERLIN (AP) – Germany plans to ease citizenship rules under legislation approved Wednesday by the Cabinet, a project that the government contends will bolster the integration of immigrants and help an economy that is struggling with a shortage of skilled workers.
The legislation passed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his ministers still requires approval from the lower house of parliament, where the socially liberal three-party coalition has a comfortable majority. It could take effect in January, depending on how quickly that happens.
The government plans to make people eligible for citizenship after five years in Germany, or three in case of “special integration accomplishments,” rather than eight or six years at present. German-born children would automatically become citizens if one parent has been a legal resident for five years, down from eight years now.
Restrictions on holding dual citizenship will also be dropped. In principle, most people from countries other than European Union members and Switzerland now have to give up their previous nationality when they gain German citizenship, though there are some exemptions….

Western society has grown to be dependent on cheap energy, not cheap local labor. Foreign labor, is another case The selfishness of citizens for hedonism rather than a family life with more than 2 children and the loss of cheap energy are real reasons for Germany’s cutrent labor shortage.
Germany has made two fatal errors in assuming that the work of cheap energy and labor shortages can be solved by imported Islam-indoctrinated labor – a labor force that has come, not to assimilate, but rather, to colonize Germany.

Consider a Tesla automobile with about 275 horsepower. It doesn’t burn hay and its energy source inefficiency is likely feeding an electric power station smokestack. It simply migrated the pollution it causes to another location. It isn’t saving energy or pollution.
However, those power stations and the previous Nord Stream gas were the backbone of German industry which allowed industrial production, with less labor, though the use of automation. The loss of the cheap gas from Russia is now causing the economic backbone of the EU, German Industry, to decline.
Instead of inviting unskilled migrants, Germany could have expanded automation and its nuclear energy. Now that its industry has been energy-throttled(likely by a NATO member) and its taken in millions of “migrant workers”, Artificial Intelligence(AI) will invade the workplace and make many of the “migrants” permanently unemployable. Germany has adopted a “Perfect Storm” recipie for economic decline. It’s likely the EU will fold with Germany.
The world-wide dependency on cheap energy cannot be reversed without causing suffering and death within the world’s poorest populations. Maybe the Greens and governments, demanding quick reductions of energy for global warming mitigation, care more about their agenda than human life?

Probably they mean making it easier for Muslims to get citizenship. Ordinary people who want a residence permit in Germany will continue to be rejected with the excuse that Germany is not a land of immigrants.
