In the Qur’an, a mysterious figure, known as Khidr in Islamic tradition, kills a boy in an apparently random and gratuitous attack. He then explains: “And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord should substitute for them one better than him in purity and nearer to mercy.” (18:80-81)
And according to Islamic law, “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (Reliance of the Traveller o1.1-2).
Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but “the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour ‘provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.’” And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that “Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values.”
“Narrated Al-Mughira: Sa`d bin Ubada said, ‘If I found a man with my wife, I would kill him with the sharp side of my sword.’ When the Prophet heard that he said, ‘Do you wonder at Sa`d’s sense of ghira (self-respect)? Verily, I have more sense of ghira than Sa`d, and Allah has more sense of ghira than I.'” (Bukhari 8.86.6846)
Riyaz may also have thought that Aashifa had violated some Islamic law, putting her outside the fold of Islam and liable to be killed as an apostate: “And it is not fitting for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and his messenger have settled a matter, that they should claim any say in the matter, and whoever is rebellious to Allah and his messenger, he indeed goes astray in obvious error.” (Qur’an 33:36)

“UP Man Beheads Sister, Walks To Police Station With Severed Head,” Press Trust of India, July 22, 2023:
Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh: A young man was arrested in UP’s Barabanki on Friday as he walked to the police station with the severed head of his sister, who he killed over her relationship, police said.
The incident took place in the Mithwara village in the Fatehpur area in UP’s Barabanki following an argument between Riyaz (22) and his sister Aashifa (18).
Riyaz allegedly behead his sister with a sharp weapon and was on his way to the police station with her head in his hand when the police arrested him, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ashutosh Mishra said.
Aashifa had recently eloped with her partner Chand Babu, a resident of the same village, Mr Mishra said.
However, the police recovered Aashifa a few days later and sent Babu to jail based on a complaint filed by the woman’s family members, he added.
A police team reached the location where the woman was beheaded and sent the body for an autopsy after collecting the required evidence, the ASP said.
According to locals, Riyaz was opposed to his sister’s relationship and the two often quarrelled over the issue, the police said….

Are we talking here about Seinfeld’s Babu Bhatt? I loved that episode, since at the end of it, Babu was languishing in Pakistan b’cos he had been deported. His visa renewal form had been delivered to Jerry by mistake, & he was out of town & Elaine was holding his mail for him. Incidentally, in that episode, it was one of those few times when the INS (now part of ICE) actually did its job & arrested Babu, and finally deported him. Only thing I didn’t get – in the series finale, Babu was there in that Massachusetts courthouse when Jerry & others were ultimately sentenced to jail for violating the state’s “Good Samaritan Law”
His name was somehow unislamic, but there’s nothing from his mannerisms to suggest that he wasn’t a muslim

Such murderous evil and bloody madness of “honor killing” reveals just how heinous, irrational and deadly Islamic family “values ” actually are . This is also part of the oppressive death inflecting misogyny of Islam.
This hideous evil has ,in part , been explained by the Arab scholar of Islam who had grown up in a nation in the Middle East and had experienced the murdering violence first hand.
For in her book she wrote “Control of behavior and disregard for human life are key elements in Islamic ideology.” [1] Of course , that “Islamic ideology is completely based on Islamic theology .
In her same book she also exposed that “Women in Islam are …deemed inferior to dirt.”
