One of the sales pitches for electric cars and assorted green energy projects was that we’d at least be able to unplug from Middle Eastern oil. But instead, we’ve become dependent on the Saudis anyway (the Saudis own 5% of Tesla) and, more crucially on China which sells us the junk solar panels and the rare earth metals (obtained through incredibly dirty mining processes that have devastated lakes and poisoned entire villages) to power the ‘clean’ revolution of ‘green energy’.
Now, topping all that, since the United States failed to develop the lithium mines in Afghanistan and since Biden refuses to mine any at home, the Taliban and Communist China will profit from every garbage electric car that the lefties force down our throats in the name of their hoax environmental crisis.

In a 2010 memo, the Pentagon’s Task Force for Business and Stability Operations, which examined Afghanistan’s development potential, dubbed the country the “Saudi Arabia of lithium.” A year later, the U.S. Geological Survey published a map showing the location of major deposits and highlighted the magnitude of the underground wealth, saying Afghanistan “could be considered as the world’s recognized future principal source of lithium.”
“In an alternate universe, our projects could’ve been generating meaningful employment and tax revenue within years that would provide an economic base and empower the Afghan people to govern themselves,” said Paul A. Brinkley, the former U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense who oversaw the Task Force for Business and Stability Operations until he left in 2011 and the office disbanded.
Instead, Brinkley said, “we’ll have Chinese companies mining lithium to feed a supply chain that will ultimately sell it back to the West, all in a world where there’s simply not enough lithium.”
“Afghanistan lacks an industrial base, [but] they have great mineral resources, and no Westerners can compete with the Chinese when it comes to building infrastructure and tolerating hardship,” said Zhou Bo, a retired People’s Liberation Army senior colonel who is now an international security expert at Tsinghua University.
In a rare interview, Shahabuddin Delawar, Afghanistan’s minister of mines and a senior Taliban leader, told Washington Post journalists that just 24 hours earlier, representatives of a Chinese company had been in his office presenting the details of a $10 billion bid that included pledges to build a lithium ore processing plant and battery factories in Afghanistan, upgrade long-neglected mountain roads and create tens of thousands of local jobs.
A commission of senior Taliban officials led by Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, “will weigh whatever good proposals we receive,” adding that the government would welcome Western and even U.S. bidders if sanctions were dropped. U.S. sanctions currently prohibit all transactions with the Taliban, with exceptions for humanitarian aid.
“We always said if the United States takes its soldiers and killing machines out of Afghanistan, it too could invest here,” he said. “The demand for oil is decreasing, but the demand for lithium is only going up. We have 2.5 million tons in Nurestan alone. Extract it, and Afghanistan can be one of the richest countries in the world.”
By 2030, when about 60 percent of all cars in China, Europe and the United States will be electric, the world is expected to face a lithium shortfall, said Henry Sanderson, executive editor of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence and the author of “Volt Rush: The Winners and Losers in the Race to Go Green.”
“China’s lithium sector is in a really enviable position: They dominate the processing, they’ve got the battery materials and factories, but that whole supply chain goes defunct if you don’t have raw material to feed the industrial machine,” Sanderson said. “That’s why they’re going to Afghanistan. They need to secure as much as they can.”
I could count how many ways Biden has screwed us in Afghanistan, but I’d run out of time.
I’ll just note that Al Qaeda is actually in charge of Nurestan.
The Taliban have appointed Al Qaeda leaders to key positions including as governors of entire provinces. Nuristan, where 53 American soldiers held off hundreds of Jihadis during the assault on Combat Outpost Keating, resulting in the awarding of two Medals of Honor and nine Silver Stars for the second deadliest battle of the war, is now under Al Qaeda governance.
Those electric cars that Biden wants to force on all of us, by banning actual cars, every one you buy will fund Al Qaeda.

They just don’t get the irony of the situation, apparently, or the obvious danger of dealing with terrorists, not to mention the total stupidity of such an action.

I really get irritated by the big push to mandate Electric Vehicles in the state of California and the rest of the United States and ban gasoline burning cars. Very few articles about this subject cover the environmental impacts of mining huge amounts of lithium and other metals needed for these electric vehicle batteries. One of the big environmental impacts is that mining lithium requires huge amounts of water. Also very few articles cover the fact that a large increase in electric vehicles will result in a large increase in the demand for electricity and the electricity system of California and other states can not supply this huge increase in the demand for electricity. Also the whole matter of the effect of Carbon Dioxide on climate change is blown way out of proportion. Now we find out plans to mine lithium in Afghanistan. All this will do is help fund the Taliban and Islamic terrorism around this world. Wow is this world sure messed up.

Anything that helps the taliban scum has to be a terrible idea. I am not sure about all this climate change issue but it does seem to me that the western nations are weakening themselves economically to a huge degree by taking measures to fight climate change while the regime in China just rolls along, changing nothing that they do, and becoming more and more powerful while the western nations weaken themselves. China will definitely end up as the most powerful country in the world if this continues and that will be a terrible thing for the entire world.

Fossil fuels with the most up to date modern technology are better for the environment than wind, solar and electric. Besides, CO2 is not a poison but food for plants. Additionally, CO2 constitutes only .04% of the atmosphere. Water vapor, by comparison, has as much as 100 times more the concentration in the atmosphere than does C02. The ultimate green house gas is water vapor. The entire CO2 nonsense is rooted in pseudo-science, not science. To date there is NO hard scientific proof that man’s output of CO2 is harming anything. None. And nature produces much more C02 than does man. For example, the oceans and seas of the world pump out annually into the atmosphere 190-230 gigatons of CO2. Mankind produces perhaps 30-40 gigatons of CO2 yearly, a mere pittance.
And remember, a half century ago the big scare then was global cooling. Now it is global warming. Wrong then. Wrong now.
And weather is not getting more violent. Last August was only the third August in the last 60 years without a single hurricane. Ice at the North Pole is thicker than it was in 2007 and as thick as it was in 1958. The hottest temperatures set in state after state were, for the most part, established long ago. For California it was 1913. For Alabama 1925. For Pennsylvania 1936. And my personal “favorite,” Massachusetts, which reached its highest temperature ever recorded in 1975 in the midst of the global cooling hysteria.
Man is an idiot most of the time. Never more so than now when men can be women, women can be men, America is clearly a rotten nation, drag queens performing before 1st graders is a grand idea and welcoming millions of deluded followers of the worst religion of all time into the West is simply a wonderful idea as well. Absurdity reigns.

It does seem like an amazing scam, Wellington, the greatest scam of all time. Plenty of western countries do seem to be destroying their economies and plenty of people are being hit with huge increases in their power bills and other hardship because of the measures the governments are taking. But so many of the populations have believed the indoctrination they have been receiving and voted in governments that will go down this destructive path. Here in Australia a labor government is busy destroying the economy, with support from the Greens. The people voted these clowns in and I guess that they might throw them out once the hardships they impose begin to bite into people’s quality of life. I think in Europe, after the hardship of the last winter there, people are beginning to revolt against the hardship they have faced.

This whole electric car thing is a scam. Our top priorities ought to be:
‣ Building 4th generation nuclear plants throughout the country to build grid capacity
‣ Harden the electric grid: have all our transmission lines run underground, so that we’d be fine in case of an EMP pulse or a nuclear attack (as far as the grid goes)
‣ Build geothermal plants where feasible, as well as hydro plants
‣ Renew fracking operations wherever we had it under Trump, so that we have adequate for both ICE & EV engines
‣ Renew mining operations for rare earths, but do research into improving their recyclibility & their safety
‣ After all that, then encourage Big Auto to build more EV cars

This article highlights the grotesque stupidity of the Biden administration and its hastily aborted mission after so much blood, time and treasure.
The US not only failed to accomplish its mission to eradicate the terrorist base, but even worse, it failed to do anything to secure access to the vast. lithium deposits underneath Afghanistan.
One of the ostensible reasons for invading the country was to eradicate al-Qaeda. Now they’re back and in senior positions in the Taliban.
The Biden debacle is even more catastrophic now that China has taken over the Lithium extraction.
One cannot help but wonder what animates such unbelievably shortsighted stupidity. It cannot be attributed to mere stupidity. There has to be ill intent behind it.

The very day of the Biden Bug-out from Afghanistan, I researched the mineral resources available to any power that would move in to fill the vacuum.
Close to the top of the list was Lithium. It comes as no surprise to me that China will soon be selling Lithium ore on the international market. It didn’t take them long.
They won’t bother transporting heavy mining equipment across the Himalayas. Be ready for an upsurge in child slave labour in those mines. The Taliban won’t care.

The Taliban regime in Afghanistan should be placed under strong economic sanctions . In other words, Those sharia based tyrants who have control of the land should be put under economic Isolation.
For it should be remembered that those bloodthirsty vicious Muslims who make up the Taliban with their evil mindset and behavior are nothing new or original. Such malicious monsters have been around as far back as far as to ancient times.

Furthermore the very next verse, 31, also rather fits the horrendous characters of the Taliban, Which reads “Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.”
